Can u put a core 2 duo cpu in a core duo MBP?

as above

I suppose you could if you're up to de-soldering 478 very small pins to remove the old Core Duo, cleaning the contacts, and resoldering the pins of the Core 2 Duo to your logic board.

Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 20-Inch (Early 2009) Specs. This is an iMac 9,1. I downloaded the pdf manual and found that it will take 2 4GB memory cards (whew! I had already ordered them). Thanks for your help. I finally found everything I needed for now!

What kinds of cpu can you put in a 2007 modal imac to bring it to its max
    Thanks

While it CAN be done I don't know if you'll see enough bang for your buck to make it worthwhile. IMO you'll get a better return by installing an SSD and maxing out the ram. That said I don't have any idea which cpu you could swap for.

only buy purchasing a mac that has a core 2 duo, you can not make that upgrade on your current mac.

  • How can i get Intel Core 2 Duo?

I have an iMac Mac OS X Version 10.6.8, how can i get Intel Core 2 Duo?

You are in the Snow Leopard forum. Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor. Maybe you think that's what you need in order to run TM. But you don't, you need Leopard. Snow Leopard will not run on your Mac.
I see you are running Tiger. You need to get the Leopard Install DVD. You can't download Leopard. Post back if you want to know how to get the DVD. It may still be available from Apple.
Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard requires:
A Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or Power PC G4 (867  MHz or faster) processor
    512 MB memory or more
    A DVD drive for installation
9 GB of available disk space or more
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider,  fees may apply.
Some features require Apple's MobileMe service; fees apply.
EDIT: And, you don't have to have Time Machine. You can make a very good backup with Tiger, which will be an exact clone of your internal drive, using several programs, one of which is free. Post back if you want more information.

  • Can I put 133mhz FSB P3 CPU on Satellite Pro 4600?

    Hi everyone
    I've got a good old Satellite pro4600 750Mhz
and was wondering if I can install a P3 1Ghz 133Mhz FSB CPU
I wonder if this laptop is strictly 100mhz FSB?
hopefully I can extend this faithful laptop's life.

The 4600 Series computer is equipped with a Mobile Intel Celeron Processor or a
    Mobile Intel Pentium III Processor.
    Mobile Intel Celeron Processor
This processor operates at 650MHz or 700MHz.
The max processor FSB speed: 100MHz.
Mobile Intel Pentium III processor featuring Intel SpeedStep technology
    This processor operates at 650MHz(1.6volts)/500MHz(1.35volts),
    700MHz(1.6volts)/ 550MHz(1.35volts), 750MHz(1.6volts)/
    600MHz(1.35volts) or 800MHz(1.6volts)/ 650MHz(1.35volts) and supports FSB speed: 100MHz
So P3 1Ghz 133Mhz FSB CPU is not possible ;(

  • Can't put the computer into sleep if VPN is connected

I think I have found a win7 bug. The problem is that I can't put my computer into sleep if VPN is connected. The VPN client I used is Microsoft VPN client. The VPN works fine.  But if I click sleep button with VPN connected, the computer screen turns
black, the fan speeds up, and the signal light tells me the computer is  still on, not in sleep mode. When I try to wake up my computer by tapping the enter key, space, or moving the mouse, it just doesn't work at all: the fan speeds faster and faster
and the computer heats up. The only thing I can do now to save my computer from darkness is to hit and hold the power button, powering off the computer. The sleep function works just fine if the VPN is disconnected. I can easily wake my computer up by tapping
the enter key. I don't know whether this problem is only present on my computer or universally present on all win7 computers.
The following is my system info:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
    Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601
    OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
    System Manufacturer LENOVO
    System Model IdeaPad Y460
    System Type X86-based PC
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU       M 460  @ 2.53GHz, 2534 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

    Hi,
Please collect the report for the further troubleshooting. Note:Please do the following steps when VPN is connected.
    1. Click Start, type in “cmd”, right click it and choose “Run as administrator”.
    2. Type in the following command.
    Powercfg –energy
    3. Find the report file in the location showed in Command window.
    4.
    Upload it.

  • HT201364 if i have 10.6.8 can i put mavericks on this computer

if i have 10.6.8 can i put mavericks on this computer

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • MacPro early 2007 - can It be upgraded with a new CPU?

MacPro early 2007 - can It be upgraded with a new CPU?

okay, jakwapnter, that's a great question. You made my day on that one.
No-the Genius Bar would probably Not do that-they only really handle current stuff, and neither your mac Pro or mine (2008) are considered current enough
However, if you could find a local independent Mac repair person willing to tackle it....it might be possible. If you're courageous and confident enough, and you feel that you pretty much know what you're doing, then maybe even you could do it. you might want to find some "how-to" videos first, though, and ask questions and learn stuff.. It ought to work, but not having done it myself I can't make any promises either way.
As for it being worthwhile, that's a crapshoot. If you do it successfully, you would get a bit more life out of your mac pro, but you still wouldn't be able to run
current stuff. if you have Lion on there now, maybe Snow Leopard, then that's it.  Check around your local town and see if there are any used Mac Pro towers for sale. By buying a new Mac Pro tower you would be perhaps able to better run the more current stuff, but, as a guess, might cost you around $3,000. I guess you might have an original "Quad Core" (2 dual core chips) , so anything from 2008 on up should be faster, and you can be sure that it'll work. It's kinda like putting a 6 cylinder engine in an old Honda civic, yeah, it might go faster, but it's still an old Honda civic, so to say.
the ball's in your your court, I guess
    good luck

  • How much RAM can I put in my Macbook Pro (late 2006), and how much will it cost me?

I am currently running at a:
2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM in Memory
ATI Radeon X1600 256 MB in Graphics
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) in Software
& it's a 15inch Macbook Pro incapable of upgrading to Mountain Lion.
I know i have a lot of limitations due to the age of this mac, but I would like
to know as to how far I can go with the one that I have. Please help.

Your MBP will be able to use a maximum of 3 Gb RAM.  The exact specifications are: 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.  Best sources are Crucial and OWC.  Their websites will have the prices.
Snow Leopard is an excellent OS.  I have it on my 2010 MBP and have no intention of installing Lion/Mt Lion.  It is stable and efficient, more so than the newer ones.  Do not view that as a handicap.
You might also consider installing a larger HDD.  Your MBP can handle the largest ones available to day (1 Tb).  For a pre-unibody MBP, it is a bit harder than the current crop but achievable of you have rudimentary mechanical skills and a bit of patience.  See the OWC website for excellent how to do it videos.
    Ciao.

  • Can I put two GT120's in a Mac Pro?

I just put a ATI 4870 in my Mac Pro and I took out the standard GT120. My father has a Mac Pro as well and I thought about putting the card to use by installing it in his Mac Pro.
Both our Mac Pros are the most recent version. Only difference is that his is 4 core and mine is 8.
So can I do this? Can I put two GT120's in his Mac Pro, and would it even make a difference for him. He mainly uses Aperture 2, and Office apps.

Two cards only allow more displays to be connected.
Rendering for all displays is still done with only the primary card.
The information is then passed along the PCIe bus to the additional cards.
What additional cards actually do is to increase bandwidth loading of the PCIe bus, which can result in a net decrease in performance.
Some applications are not multi card aware, and can result in negative performance.
One example is the case of two identical cards and FCP:
    http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/non-linear-editing-mac/145449-dual-graphics-cards-ma c-pro-final-cut-pro.html
Note that the "solution", that is to use two different cards, is a result of the fact that rendering occurs on only one card.

  • I have the following Apple Computer: Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 2 MB per processor. Can I put install new Intel Xeon processors in place of the current ones to bring my Mac up to the MacPro standards and so I can install the new Mac software?

I have the following Apple Computer: Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, 2 MB per processor. Can I put install new Intel Xeon processors in place of the current ones to bring my Mac up to the MacPro standards and, if so, can I then install the new Mac software (Lion)?

As has been clearly stated, no, no, and no.
If such an upgrade were possible, it probably would be more money than it would be worth.
If you're running a G4 (dual-processor even) you can pick up a used Mac mini (intel that is, and something from 2010 or newer would be the best bet) that will be screaming fast compared to a G4.
Once upon a time, processor upgrades were not only possible, but a good deal, and a relatively inexpensive way to get more life out of your Mac. I upgraded a G3 tower to a G4 for  few hundred dollars, and I was glad I went that route at the time. Finally,  CPU upgrades, at least as far as I know, aren't available anymore.

  • Can't put ACL on management int - WLC

Why is it so that I can't put an ACL on the management int or the mangement WLAN. I mean, I can put the ACL on the int/WLAN but it has no effect, it only denies everything.
Also, can someone please explain what the difference between putting an ACL on an interface vs one on a WLAN.
    Thank you.

Where you place the ACL determines when the packets are acted upon. Depending on how close to the client you put it determines how much cpu/bandwidth etc you use prior to the action.
There is a deny all at the end of every ACL. Are you sure the ACL has something to act on and isn't just getting to the deny?
What version of WLC code are you running?
An access control list (ACL) is a set of rules used to limit access to a particular interface (for example, if you want to restrict a wireless client from pinging the management interface of the controller). After ACLs are configured on the controller, they can be applied to the management interface, the AP-manager interface, any of the dynamic interfaces, or a WLAN to control data traffic to and from wireless clients or to the controller central processing unit (CPU) to control all traffic destined for the CPU.
