Can usb charging be disabled/turned o

Everytime i connect my micro up to transfer files from my pc it starts charging via the usb.is there any way of stopping this as a few ppl have said this charging( only while micro is connected to transfer data(0 mins max)may mess with the battery cycles.especially the fact that you need to totally drain the battery for the first few charges.
thanks.

www.batteryuni'versity.com is a great resource for everything you wanted to know and a lot you did not ... about batteries - all kinds.
Generally if you deplete a LiION battery completely once, the first time, then charge it right up, you will effecti'vely condition the battery for a good part of its life. Everything you do with the battery from that point on will shorten its life so given any LiION battery has a finite lifetime, the best you can do is to minimize your impact on it.
Having said that, deplete it once and maybe another later time if you need to reset the device battery gauge. You cannot overcharge LiION so running with USB connected is not a big deal. If you store the unit store it with a charge less than full and more than 40% you will be OK and try to not run the battery down to having the player shut off.
The Micro is charging as soon as you connect, however the MuVo?4 needs some trickery to make it charge so there are differences in how the devices are seen by the host computer.

  • HT1414 I upgraded to iOS 5 and my iPad cannot be recognized by my pc, my apple laptop or any other system.  It doesn't even sync while connected to my wireless network.  also, the iPad can only charge if I turn it off and plug it to either the wall outlet

After I upgraded to iOS 5 my pc and laptops (including the apple one) do not recognize the laptop when I connect to the USB.  The wireless function does not function either.  I cannot sync the iPad 2 anymore because of this.  Also, the only way it charges is if I lug it to the wall or pc USB and turn it off.  I was able to charge the device while it was on.  Why is this happening?  How can I fix it? If there is no fix, how can I revert back to an older iOS.  I tried using the support apple instructions but the iPad is not recognized by the pc and I cannot sync the iPad iTunes to revert back to an older iOS.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • Can iPhone charging chime be turned off?

I am using a Kensington 3-Port USB Pocket Hub and iPhone Sync station with a 2013 iMac. It is a powered hub and charges the iPhone while minimising use of precious USB3 ports on the back of the iMac (I have a printer, keyboard and Blu-ray burner also attached).
The only unsatisfactory thing is that the iPhone seems to randomly chime as though it has just been connected to a charging cable. My guess is that this is something to do with the iMac polling the USB hub, even while it is sleeping.
Apart from muting all sounds, is there a way to turn off or quieten the charging chime?

There's something in the TOS of this site that prevents supplying an answer to this annoyance? Jeez, I bought this device to put my toe in the Apple pond, and it has some good points, but also putting up with some real crap. The "Big Brother" ad was directed at the wrong target.
You're issue is completely different than that of the original poster. You may want to start your own thread. However, what I can tell you is that, if you're iPad is making that noise when it is not plugged in, it may well be a hardware issue.  However, have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? Have you checked the charging port for debris?

  • Can hp communicator be disabled, turning off printer did not work

HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 connected to wireless router. Until installed cursor worked normally. Now after installation cursor seems to indicate some type of activity (blue rotating circle by cursor arrow). Tried disabing or stopping HP Communicator but it keeps restarting. Is there a way to "suspend" or temporarily disable until I need to print?

If it is running all the time, that is not correct behavior. Two things I would do:
First, go into uninstall programs (specific depends on operating system) and uninstall HP communicator.
Second, go into msconfig, startup tab, and uncheck HP communicator.
    Then restart your computer.

  • My iphone 5 went flat but i can;t charge or turn it on ? please help

my iphone5 went flat but i can't charge it or turn it on . has anyone got this same problem , please help ?

    Hey rockyjamesolsson,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing power issues with your iPhone 5. To completely isolate the issue, you may want to follow these steps:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
    1. Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
    2. Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion.
    Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
    3. Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
    4. After at least 15 minutes, if:
                   - The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
                   - The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
                   - Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
    5. If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
                   - If the display turns on, go to step 4.
                   - If the display remains black, go to next step.
    6. Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
    7. If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Anyway to turn off screen of Vision M while USB chargi

When I plug my Zen Vision M into the USB port to charge the screen turns on and stays on. Is there any way to turn it off since I am only charging and sometimes leave it overnight?

I'm having the same problem. I just purchased the CZV 60GB. There are no programs running in the background. However, when I power down my player, then put it in the lock position, then connect it to the USB charger, the screen immediately re-lights, a window pops up on my PC asking me what I want to do ? sync with this player, etc... and then no matter what I do, I can't get the screen off. I thought that maybe when the player was fully charged, the screen would finally go off, however, the next AM, the screen was still lit. I don't want to damage or "burn in" the screen. Someone please help. TobyMessage Edited by TobyINTampa on 2-23-20060:49 AM

  • Is there any way to disable USB charging on N8?

It might be a strange question. But many time, my battery still nearly full and I just want to transfer a couple of files. When I plug the cable in, it start charging right away. This may makes battery deteriorate faster. Therefore, is there any way to disable USB charging? Thanks!

charging by usb isn't a problem , modern batteries do not suffer 'memory effect' just do what you want to do and don't worry about it . My N97 is connected to laptop most nights for anything from 10 minutes to an hour , no battery problem in 18 months and left on charge overnight every night . Enjoy your new phone and don't worry about a problem that doesn't exist

    Hi ohmghimire,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you're seeing unexpected behavior when using USB devices, try resetting the SMC on your MacBook Pro:
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
You can find the article with these steps here:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
If you still see this behavior after resetting the SMC, or your computer won't turn on, try the steps in this article next:

Try pulling the battery for 10 minutes and putting it back in.  Try pressing and holding the power button for a while 15-30 seconds to see if it will respond.  Did anything happen to it, drop, submersion, etc. Was it functioning before you charged, When did it last work. Are you sure it charged up and the charger is working.

That is definitely odd, grantcool. Let's help restore this important data transfer feature. To confirm, when you connect the USB cable to your phone and computer > Pull down the Notification Bar > Select USB Connected > Can you choose Media Sync (MTP) ?

I have a problem with my iPhone 5 stopped working the sleep / power and simultaneously refused to obey the HOME button. I can not use either one or the other. I can not enable or disable the device, display lights up when you plug the charger. same display works fine as it is surprising. or maybe someone knows what is the reason for this? is there any way to solve this problem?

More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

  • Can a USB charging port be replaced?

I have a Samsung charge. If I plug in the USB charger, the phone goes blank and freezes. This occurs even if the charger is not connected to power, so I suspect there is a loose connection or unseated port. If I remove the battery and replace, letting it reboot, with charger plugged in, it will show the battery status bar as not charging. I carry 2 extra batteries with me, checked the other 2. Sames issue, so I doubt it is the battery.

If the phone is still under warranty, you should check into the possibility of a warranty replacement. If it's no longer under warranty, it might be worth contacting a cell phone repair shop to see if replacing the charging port is possible. If they can replace it for a reasonable cost, it could solve your problem. Of course, be sure it's a reputable shop.
