Can'User' accounts be deleted ?

I used 'Migration' to move folders from my Dell PC to my new iMac and found that a new user account was set up. I no longer need the extra account.
Can I now delete this unwated account.
Your help would be much appreciated.

there is a very strange problem. I create user accounts in domain but they get deleted after 10-15 minutes. event id 4726 is left in event viewer showing a user is deleted.

Hi,
Once you have completed the above settings.The appropriate events will generate if the user account changes occur including user account deletion. The next step is analyzing the event ids.
Event ids to be analyzed:
4726 - A user account was deleted.
5141 - A directory service object was deleted.
By comparing the these two event ids you can get a complete picture on user account deletion.

Finding out when an AD user account is deleted

All:
Once a user account is deleted from AD, is there any way to query AD and find out what date the account was deleted?

Yes, that's the preferred solution. In addition, if tombstone time
hasn't expired, you can check DeletedObjects (use adexplorer for that)
and have a look at "WhenChanged".

Can I keep an app on one user account, and delete it on the other?

I have two separate user accounts on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion); one for school and one for personal use. I cannot have Oovoo on my school account, because I cannot access my school's wireless network with Oovoo (because it is a form of social networking). Can i erase Ooovoo from my school account, but keep it on my personal account?

You probably can, but I'm not sure I see the point. Just don't use it on the school network. But if the temptation is too strong, and if "Oovoo" (which I've never heard of) is a self-contained application, move it into the home folder of your personal account. You can create an Applications subfolder and put in there.

How to create new user account and delete old one?

we have wanted to change our alias on the discussions group but understand from the frequently asked questions section that,
"Once you create an alias, you cannot make changes to it. If you want to change your alias, you will need to create a new User Account".
However it does not go on to tell us specifically how to now set up a "new User Account". Could someone specify how to do this? And if we do this, how would we then delete the current User Account? Thank you.

Not with the same Primary address, but you can use your MM address as a secondary one. That is how I have my 2 Apple IDs setup. 1 uses my Dot Mac address and the other uses an ISP address as the Primary with the latter having my Dot Mac address as an alternate address.
Warning, even if you create a new account, you won't be able to use your current ALIAS with the new account.

Guest Account Bug Resets User Accounts and Deletes Files on Snow Leopard

Well basically, I hadn't used my Guest Account since upgrading to snow leopard, and I accidentaly clicked it instead of my user account this morning, to find that when I logged into my normal account ALL my files, settings, mail etc had been reset.
So I'm posting this to let people know, (and hopefully Apple if they don't know about this) what's happening.

Well basically, I upgraded to snow leopard recently, everything was working fine, I've upgraded to 10.6.1 and have all the latest software updates etc, so anyway this morning I turned my computer on and accidentaly clicked on the Guest Account on the login screen instead of my normal one, so it started trying to load the guest account (which I hadn't loaded since before the upgrade).
So I wait about two minutes, and nothing atall happens apart from it loading on the logon page, so I pressed Enter to return me to the login window.
So once I was returned I logged on as my normal user, to find my Desktop reset, my Dock reset, my Documents, Music and Photos reset and all my software reset.
So I restarted my computer and logged on again, it was exactly the same, everything gone. At which point I looked in the Users folder to find that my User profile had been removed and replaced with a fresh one with the same name. So I then spent half an hour restoring everything from my Time Machine backup.
I hope Apple are aware of this issue and would greatly appreciate to hear back on the status of what's happening about it, as it doesn't seem to be an isolated issue it's been happening to other people over the last month.

So if anybody else expieriences this issue your not alone, there's a couple of other posts from people who've had problems above in the middle of my feedback letter. Unfortunately in my case it deleted my Home folder and replaced it with a new one, so if this happens to you then your only option is to restore from a backup. You can attempt to use file recovery software if you don't have one, but I haven't tried this and don't know how well it would work.

Maybe it will be usefull but last days I tried to login as *Guest* (because I didn't want to logout as my user). In *system preferences* I allowed guest login, then I fast switched to *Guest Account*, do some changes in profile like mouse movement and so on, then I correctly logged out and logged once more to my account. Now I affraid off rebooting macbook (I always hybernate system with changed default settings which store memory into HDD) until the fix will be released. Probably the data was not removed, because I was logged in as me and */Users/$USER* was still in use. Now I am wondering if I can reboot safelly macbook without losing my data..
For backup do I need to use some command for backuping home to windows machine through *SMB*? because unix like systems have links and so on.. (in *AIX OS* I have to use "*rsync*" command, which copy whole data exactly as it is stored on filesystem - if there is link it will copy only that link, not file which is linked...)

What exactly happens to my apps and settings when i create a new user account, and delete all the other user accounts?

Such apps and settings that apply to icloud, appstore, and itunes. I know the apps will still be in the new account and any other purchased apps will be in the appstore for re-download. But what will happen I delete user accounts and choose not to save any folders or files of the soon to be deleted user accound? I don't have a disk to do a clean install and I'm trying to give my super old macbook pro to a friend and I want to make sure the laptop is his and everything of mine is gone. Will erasing free space do that trick?

If it is not installed in HD>Applications folder and installed in a user account then it's gone with the user account. It's that simple.

There is a good chance that her bookmarks and history are still on your computer. Try pressing '''windows key''' and '''r''' simultaneously and typing or pasting '''%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\'''. If there is no profile in there, then the information is probably lost, but if there is a profile there, her history, bookmarks, and settings are still inside. You can either manually places.sqlite by using a program like [http://sourceforge.net/projects/sqlitebrowser/ SqliteBrowser] (I can't get this method to work on my computer), or backup the profile and reinstall firefox to access them.

Not knowing what is in your "simple table," it's hard to make suggestions. But if you have a text field in that table that needs to enlarge for different users, just make it a multiline field. Select the field, in the Object-Field tab, check on Allow Multiple Lines. On the Layout tab, check Expand to Fit. Make sure the parent form allows for Flowed Content. And this of course only works in dynamic forms.
If you're talking about something more like adding rows to a table, that's possible too, but an entirely different procedure!

When i upgraded to Lion, it deleted my main user account and only left my guest account, how can i fix this?

My main user account was deleted, and only my guest account remained. I don't know my password for the guest account anymore, so i couldn't log in, i had to use my time machine to restore to the day before when i was on 10.6.7. How do i fix this?

I've stumbled upon the solution to get back into our machines.
At the login screen, when presented with 'guest account' only, do the following:
tap enter while holding down 'control' + 'option' + 'command'
...you should be reunited with your usual login personalities.

Can you transfer files between two user accounts on the same MacBook Pro?
Specifically, I used the Migration Assistant to move music and photos from my old PC to my new MacBook.
Somehow, I missed the fact that it was creating a new user account when it was doing this. So none of music and photos are in the user account I originally set-up. Instead, all these files are now in a different account.
I'd like to consolidate all my files on the one user account and delete the other one.
Is this possible and, if so, how do I do it?

you can crop files from one account to another using the Public Dropbox which every user account has. Log into the user that has the files you want to move, then drag the folder you want to the new users' dropbox:
I suggest a small scale test on a few files first before moving gigabytes of files.

Deleting IDM user accounts during reconciliation

Hello All,
We have an authoritative data source which is a MySQL database. I have loaded all the users from the DB into IDM. What I want to know is can we delete the user in IDM when the user account is deleted from the MySQL database?
How can I achieve this during reconciliation?

Deleting a user account question

Hi everyone, can anyone tell me the best way to delete a user account on my computer? Basically I no longer need two accounts and the music, movies and other information from the other side have been transferred to another computer. What I need to know if should I delete all the files from the user account before deleting the account or will deleting the account automatically delete all those files?
My main concern is freeing up space on the computer again and want to be sure the way I do it will do the job. Thanks for any help.

You don't need to do anything beforehand. After following Macjack's instructions you will be presented with this option screen, and can choose accordingly:

User Account Deleted event ID concern

It is my understanding that when a user account is deleted in AD an event should be generated with ID 4726 (assuming you have auditing enabled), however in my company this does not appear to be the case, and i'm wondering why. I just tested this after being
unable to track down a user deletion earlier. When i delete a user account, the only event generated is 5141 (Directory Service Change). Am i missing something here? I have "Audit Account Management" set to success and failure. Everywhere i read
online tells me a 4726 event should be generated but it is not.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
