Can user roles by transferred to new web server?

Our ISP moved our files to a new web server since we were
running out of room on their old server. However, our user roles
did not get transferred. The settings for Administrator, Publisher
and Writer were moved, but our custom roles were not. Is there a
way for these roles to be transferred from the old server?

We aren't using CPS, but it looks like our ISP moved the
files from the _mm directory. But the cthub....csi file on the new
server is much smaller than it was on the old server (11 K vs 53
K). It looks like the default roles (Administrator, Publisher,
Writer) were moved somehow because the user names associated with
those roles are displayed. But none of our other roles are showing
up.
One other bit of information ... the name of our web
server/URL has changed with this move. I don't know if that would
make a difference.

LDAP is not working on new Web Server

Hi, I configured LDAP authentication and it was working fine. After this I installed a new web server. I copied the security certificate etc ( copied everything from other web server) onto new webserver. When I try to login into Infoview or CMC then I get error message "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin" from the new web server. Its working fine from the old web servers.
Not sure what else I have to do now as I have done the same thing on old servers in the past.
We are on BOXI R2 SP3 with web server on IIS 6.0. We have three web servers and 3 processing servers ( with all services) in cluster env.

I am sorry I got confused with Pure Enterise authentication. I should have referred to my notes. I apologize for this. Web application server is involved in communicating to LDAP. Below is the process
1) User logs into the application
2) Web application server security plugin sends credential to LDAP directory
3) LDAP directory authenticate users.
4) Web application server's security plugin sends users credential to LDAP
5) CMS requests user and group info from LDAP
6) The LDAP returns this information to CMS Security plugin
7) CMS will grant access if users is member of mapped group
8) If access is granted then both CMS and WAS plugin create a session
9) The WAS sends an enterprise session token to user's browser

Embedded font errors after migrating pdfs to new web server

Hi All,
After hundreds of working pdfs were moved to new web server, they produce variations of the "cannot extract the embedded font" (name of font) "some characters may not display or print correctly" error. The first page loads perfectly and the rest never load. All these files open fine when I open local copies in Reader (9.1.3) and Professional (7.1.0).They also open fine when moved to another server. When I delete copies on the server and re-upload using the working copies, the errors persist. Doesn't make sense. I also occasionally get the error "there were problems reading this document (14)".
I was told by the IT department that a possible cause was that the new server environment used fonts installed on the server rather than the local machine to display pdfs. This doesn't make sense to me. I've researched these errors and haven't found anything applicable or that has worked. Any suggestions? Has anyone else expeienced this?
The server is IIS and is running ASP.net. The IT dudes are saying they need to install all the refferenced fonts on the web server but due to the expense of this, they can't.This will nessecitate a really bizzarre and Rube Goldbergesque workaround (that I'm not even going to try to explain here) that I'd really like to avoid. Any suggestions? Are there any Acrobat settings that need to be twekaed?

I would like to display a simple web page, and I would like to pass to that web page the answers to all the quiz questions, quiz score, etc. In other words, instead of passing quiz results to a SCORM-compliant LMS like Moodle, I'd like to pass that data to a Drupal Webform using a URL like:

You have to make sure every step in MOS Document ID 726414.1 that is applicable to your E-Business Suite 12.1.x release is performed. Enabling ASADMIN is just one of the steps. In spite of following all the steps in this Document you continue to get the error when clicking "Generate WSDL", please log a Service Request with Oracle Support.I will check all steps again. Limit user role to edit just specific web sites

Hi,
can I limit a user role in a way, that this user can edit only chosen web sites and not all? And can I even let user only edit certain region on specific sites?
Like editing content but not headings?
UPDATE: I found that this can be done by using content holders? By giving the client only access to specific content holders, and inserting those at certain positions on a site limits the possibilties of editing.

Not to that level no. You can assign approcal roles to things so they wont render live till approved like on pages but this can not be set to specifics in the way you are looking at.

How can I stop auto refreshing a new web page in XP immediately after its opened?

In XP, once I access a new web page Firefox auto refreshes that page once the page is ~80-90% opened - how can i stop this refresh?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

How can map bookmarks be transfered to new devices?

Book marks on maps cannot be transfered to new devices through icloud. This makes you have to re enter each book mark into the maps of the new device.
If icloud saved map book marks and transfered them to new devices, then setting up a new device with information from previous devices would be easier

I have an Epson 4180 flatbed scanner which will copy my 35 mm slides 4 at a time. It takes about a minute a slide. The software that came with the scanner imports the pictures to the mac in JPG form. I then import in into I-photo. I had about 4000 slides collected over 50 years and there are a 1000 in my I-photo library. This software will also scan the slide and convert it to PDF which is handy for copying and sending correspondence or whatever in E-mail.

User Role problems in Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8

I am having two problems setting up user roles in Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8. At first, I thought that it was a problem with the higher level features that I was using, so I created a very simple example using the simplest authentication I can use, but the problem still occurs. I am using the file realm and configuring the users in the App Server Admin Console. I create 2 users in different roles. One user should have access, the other should not.
1) The first problem is that both users can access the page
2) The second problem is that the isUserInRole() method returns false for both users with the role that it should be authenticating against.

Your suggestion has lead me to find my problem. There were actually three problems.
1) First, you suggestion to reorder my xml file did not cause any errors to occur. I got suspicious that my web.xml file was wrong. I looked at some sample web-xml files and found that I was missing the header as follows:

2) When I added this information, the deploy feature failed stating the my web.xml file was out of order. I fixed the ordering. It now deployed, but the security still wasn't working.
3) I then added the sun-web.xml file. This file was missing before hand as I thought it was unnessary. However, this file added the essential mapping from a role to a group. After adding this, it now started to work.

Creating a new web server instance using script

We have to create 10 instances of sun one 6.1 web server again and again. Creating them from GUI and deleting them after testing is going to be a time consuming process. Is there a way to copy an existing instance with the help of some command line tool or shell script (If we know what enteries should be there in each configuration file). Any help will be appreciated.

6.1 unfortunately does not provide a way to create instances through command line tool. With 7.0 (soon to be released as Beta in the coming weeks) will have a full fledged command line tool for all server administration tasks
meanwhile, as a temporary work around one could do the following within a shell or perl script.
[ this approach is totally not supported by Sun. You are on your own ]
1. cd INSTALL_ROOT
2. copy https-HOSTNAME to https-test (/bin/cp -Rf https-HOSTNAME https-TEST) - assuming TEST is the new instance name that you want to create.
3. use a script to edit the following files and replace 'https-HOSTNAME' to https-TEST in all occurrences.
list of files to change:
start , stop , reconfig , restart , rotate
config/magnus.conf
config/server.xml
4. finally, you can use 'HttpServerAdmin' to change the listener port, security settings etc
./bin/https/bin/HttpServerAdmin -h

Auto-install a new web server instance

Hi, i'm attempting to install a Sun ONE Web Server on my workstation as part of a tutorial for Sun Identity and Acess Management Servers.
Within the tutorial it is stated that this web server is completely seperate from the web server within the Identity Server, and simply involves running an auto-install script called "install-webserver.sh".
Each time i attempt to run this script I am recieving a "bad interpreter: Permission denied" error message.
The line !/bin/sh is at the top of my file and yet this error is still occuring. The file was ftp'd from my windows NT directory across to my Unix directory "/export/home/opt/SUNWam/bin", and it is in this directory that I am attempting to run this scrpt.
So, does this sound in any way familiar to anyone?? I can provide you with the script if necessary.

Licensing-Can I use 10 client version for Web server?

I have a client that is looking to move their web servers from IIS and Windows to OSX server.
My question is, how does the licensing shceme work? Can we use a 10 user version of OSX Server for a web server, or do we need the Unlimited version?
Not 100% familiar with the server side of Mac things, so treat me gently

The licensing only applies to connected AFP users, so you can use a 10 Client version without any problems.
