Can video be moved independently of audio to line up lip sync in premiere elements?

I need to move to new software I currently use fcp7. Can premiere elements handle lip syncing?I produce music videos

danieloc
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
In the absence of that information, I will give you a generalized answer
1. Unlink the audio from its linked video
a. right click the clip and select Unlink Audio and Video
or, if indicated,
b. right click the clip and select Delete Video or Delete Audio
Once the video and audio are unlinked,
a. Select the audio
b. Hold down the Alt key and tap on the right or left arrow key (one tap = 1 frame movement) OR hold down the Shift+Alt keys (together) and tap on the right or left arrow key (one tap = 5 frames movement).
It does work, but sometimes presents sluggish at times.
In Edit Menu/Project Settings/General, you may want to work with Display Format = milliseconds.
Please let us know if that worked for you.
Thanks.

  • CC Audio plays out of lip sync from video - Version 6 plays fine.

If I place a single DV NTSC video clip in a timeline in Premiere Pro CC (7.0.1 (105)) - the clip is out of lip sync. I have tried software/hardware rendering with no change.
If I open the same DV clip in a timeline in Premiere Pro 6 - the clip plays fine.
I of course cannot open the CC clip in version 6. All I am doing here is placing a single DV clip in the timeline to cut new start/end and export to MP4 - no effects, filters, nada. I noticed the MP4's were out of sync, then noticed the originals would not play right in the timeline.

I cleaned the cache and re-opened the project - no difference.
On all four of the clips I was working with the video was 5 frames early, so I ended up unlinking everything and shifting the audio 5 frames and exporting.
I also noticed I am not seeing the closed caption display. I am going to uninstall/reinstall CC.

  • Audio fine in PSE9 but not in Premiere Elements 9

When I create a slide show in PSE9  I intermix photos and short movies. The movies have audio tracks. I  then add different audio to the slide show, ending the audio before each movie and  then placing a new audio after the movie. It plays exactly as I have set it up when I play the slide show in PSE9. When I send the slide show to  Premiere Elements 9 to create a DVD, the audio I have ended in PSE9  continues through the movie giving me dual audio during the display of  the movie and making it difficult/impossible to hear the audio for the  movie clip.
I want my PSE9 slide show to be exactly duplicated by Premiere Elements 9. Why doesn't it do this?

Yes, I created my slide show in PSE9 using the Organizer.
I am able to import a video clip (taken on a digital camera) exactly the same as I can import a still picture. The clip needs to be in an allowed format. First I end the audio I am using for the rest of the slide show 1 or 2 slides before the video clip. Then I place a new audio a slide or 2 after the video clip. It plays back exactly as I want it to in the Organizer slide show. However, when transferred to Premiere Elements 9 to create a VDVD, the audio doesn't end before the video clip - both audios play when the video clip plays creating a cacophony!

  • I can't find the green screen key in the Effects menu in Adobe Premiere Elements 12

Is there anybody who can help me were I can find the green screen key in premiere element 12. According tutorial video's on You Tube there must be a green screen key in the effects menu under keying, but with me it doesn't seem to be there.

Thanks for the reply. Glad you asked. Please check out my blog post on the use of the Difference Matte, especially for the Premiere Elements Mac users who run into this Windows Only situation.

We are not Adobe. Rather user to user. So, I am not sure why these keying features are not included in Premiere Elements Mac.
Please review and consider the above, and, if any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Can I back up individual image files to a slideshow DVD created in Premiere Elements 4.0?

I created a Premiere Elements 4.0 Project including 3 separate photo slideshows. The slideshows were created in Photoshop Elements 6.0 and imported into my Premiere Elements project. I was hoping that when burning the project to DVD, my image files would also be individually backed up.
When I give the DVD to family members I would like them to have access to the image files so they can print or use them individually. I would like to do this in 1 single DVD rather than giving them a DVD with the slideshows and a DVD with the image files. I was able to do this with a previous DVD authoring program I was using, but I cannot figure it out with Premiere Elements 4.0.
Any ideas if this is do-able with Premiere Elements 4? (I am running Windows Vista Home premium SP1 - 64bit - 3GB RAM)

Thanks for your help. I tried this. I burned the project to a folder (4.7GB) then to that folder I added a folder with my photos. So in the folder there was "Photos", "OpenDVD" and "Video_TS". I had 3 separate folders within the "Photos" folder, to keep the 3 slideshow photos grouped.
I burned the entire folder to a DVD using my burn tool. I don't even know the name of the software I used, but I think it was just the Toshiba burn tool. I dragged and dropped the folder into my new disc folder, then at the top of my screen clicked "burn to disc", I named the disc and chose from the formating options "Mastered: disc can be read on other computers and some CD/DVD... no new data can be added..."
Once burned I checked it on my DVD player and now it recognizes only the individual jpg files so it does a generic slideshow of these images rather than my slideshow project. (no menu, music...) Putting the disc in my computer I could access either the files or the slideshow project, but not on my home DVD player.
I burned the folders to 2 separate discs, once dragging the whole folder to the disc and once opening the folder and dragging only the individual folders to the disc.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. thanks.

  • Can't see MTS files using mac os 10.9.5 and adobe premiere elements 12

I am using a MacBook Pro and OS is 10.9.5. Adobe premiere elements 12 does not recognize MTS files from my SD card. The OS does not see MTS files from the card as well...but...I have an MTS file on my desktop from before I upgraded from 10.6.8 that can be seen by both Adobe and the new OS.
    HELP

    annejennifer
What are you using as your Add Media/ for the import of your .mts on the SD?
Not sure if the following is a viable question, but....
What happens if you transfer the .mts on the SD card to your computer desktop and then try to
import the .mts into Premiere Elements 12 with its Add Media/Files and Folder/Project Assets?
But on reflection, if your OS and Premiere Elements are both not seeing the file, this does not
present as a Premiere Elements issue, rather an issue between the .mts format and your Mac computer.
If that is a valid observation, have you gotten any input on this from Apple?
Have you looked into converting these .mts files into H.264.mov or .mp4 before use?
    ATR
Add On....could you give us more information about the .mts file that you said that you have on your new
computer desktop and is being recognized by the OS and Premiere Elements 12?

  • When viewing online videos (news, sports etc) the audio is totally out of sync.

I use three emails (gmail, comcast and juno) and when I click on anything that has a video, the audio is out of sync with the video. I originally thought it was only Comcast.net news but their techs have not been able to improve matters. So I ran tests on the others and found they had similar problems. Cursory checks of my PC, Acer HD monitor and my two small speakers didn't reveal anything. That doesn't leave much other than Fire Fox.

If this were a project that I was involved in, I would recapture the media at the correct frame rate and rebuild the sequences correctly.
Moving from production, to post production, to delivery is a series of steps, and the success of any particular step is based on having all the preceding steps done correctly.
Shortcuts and workarounds tend to create awkward and difficult problems, that often only surface late in the process.

  • Audio files won't auto-sync in Premiere CC - synchronize option is grayed out

I just started using Premiere CC and am trying to synchronize three cameras and one additional audio source using the new auto-sync feature - which syncs by waveform.  Even if I'm just selecting two audio clips on the timeline, right-clicking on the clips brings up the menu with the "synchronize" option grayed out - not available.  Why should this be?
I'm mixing clips from two Canon T4i files with audio, multiple Red clips with audio, and an mp3 file from an Edirol recorder.
Premiere just doesn't seem to want to even attempt an auto-sync with these files. Even if I unlink audio from video and then try to sync audio - no "synchronize" option.
I'd really appreciate any ideas or suggestions anyone might have on this.
    Rob

It just doesn't work with separate audio clips.  This is known.  But I've never seen the option grayed out completely.  Not sure what would cause that.
You're sure all the camera clips have audio?  You can put them in the sequence and see the waveform?

  • Only partial audio from 25+GB .avi file in Premiere Elements 11 Expert View

I have a new Toshiba laptop with i7 processor, 8GB memory, and Win 8.1
I have 25+GB .avi files containing 2-3 of my kids baseball games.  I want to create DVDs of say 2 games per with start & stop main menu markers.
I bring the .avi file into Expert View.  Problem is not all the audio is there.  Starts out with no audio showing then some appears.  Several games are
each 8mm tape which I copy to HD as 1 .avi .  I guess I can copy one game at a time from 8mm creating individual .avi game files. Not sure how large
they are and if all audio appears.  I'm currently doing that.
    Appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks...

Did you clean out the Meda Cache, before you discovered the loss of Audio?
To play Audio on the Timeline, and to display the Waveform, you need the CFA and PEK files. This article goes into more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3892177#3892177
One of the most common causes of not having Audio, or truncated Audio, is that the Conforming process did not complete 100%.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on? If Mac, was your purchase the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Editor from the Mac App Store?
Be that as it may, what are the properties of the video audio file that you are importing in Premiere Elements 11?
A quick way might be for you to tell us the brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video audio file (including the file extension of the file).
When the file reaches the Expert workspace Timeline which is the case
    a. no sound, but audio file is represented on Audio 1
    b. no sound, audio file not represented on Audio 1
    c. no sound, audio file represented on Audio 1 and, when you toggle the Audio Display Style to waveform, you
see or do not see a waveform.
(to the left of the word Audio 1 is a speaker icon...clicking on that icon toggles the audio track display...one of the
    two choices is the waveform).
Assuming Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now, go to Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/12 and delete the complete contents of the Media Cache Files Folder that you find there. Then open the program and determine if the audio problem persists. Look to the bottom right of the workspace to observe any "conforming" activity in progress when you import the file.
We will be watching for your follow up.
    Thank you.

  • Can Premiere Elements 12 edit 4K Video from Panasonic Gh4

  • How can I edit FRAPS video in Premiere Elements?

Although FRAPS isn't the best source format for video in Premiere Elements, some folks at Elements Village have come up with a workflow that seems to work pretty well.
    http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67036
    Key elements are:
    1) The FRAPS software must be installed on the same machine you're editing your video on
    2) ffdshow should also be installed
    3) It is best to down-sample your video in FRAPS to 1280x720 at 30 fps before you bring it into Premiere Elements
    4) Output the video from FRAPS using the Huffyuv codec
    5) Edit it in a Premiere Elements project set up for Flip Mino HD 30 (although, in a pinch, it may also work in a project set up for AVCHD Lite 1280x720p)

    6xam
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 10 running on? For now I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
After you apply the Crop Effect (Edit Header/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop), you click on "Edit Effects" toward the bottom of the Effects area to bring up the Properties Palette for that particular clip to which you have applied the Crop Effect. You should see
    Adjust the Crop sliders accordingly.

  • Horizontal Lines while Capturing video in Premiere Elements 12

    Problem:
I have a Sony DCR-TRV80 where video is captured on Mini DV tape. It connects to my PC via FireWire. PC has i7 CPU, Win 7 64bit. 8gig ram, raid 0 hard disks, nvidia video card. Lots of hard disk space.
When I capture video, as it is captured, I get horizontal lines whenever there is motion (either a subject is moving OR the camera is moving). This is seen in the capture window of Premiere Elements 12
    The Project Settings:
I have tried several but the one that does not give me a warning is DV Standard 48khz & DV Widescreen 48khz. Both setting details show them as being interlaced (frame rate of 29.97 & size of 720h 480v).
Additionally, I have tried several other Project Settings and still get the same result.
    What I See:
When I am capturing the video, I see the horizontal lines. When I output the image, I still get the horizontal lines (all seen on my PC).
    My goal:
To capture my videos and have them at high quality so I can edit them to show on my TV to the family. I also would like to be able to see them on the PC without the annoying (and dizzying) horizontal lines.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

I looked at the manuals, etc. from Sony and could not find out much about the output of the camcorder. So best I can tell from your posts, the  Sony DCR-TRV80/ Mini DV tape is interlaced natively.
I then did an output to a DVD and played it on my TV/DVD and no interlacing (actually minimal) was apartment.
I was unable to output to YouTube since it would only do it if it also uploaded the video to YouTube which I did not want to do.
So I outputted to AVCHD which seemed to be progressive output. The horizontal lines were definitely much less but still noticeable especially if I make the player larger.
I am just struggling with what I thought as high quality camcorder and prosumer program that I can not see it nicely on the computer or at something a bit larger than a tiny thing.
What can I try to check into this? I am glad to do whatever it takes on my end to learn or correct what I am doing.

  • No sound after I export a video in premiere elements 12

Alright I am doing a walkthrough on a video game so I am deleting audio out of my clips and adding in narration. While I can hear and see my narration just fine in one of my videos, when I export it I hear no narration or sound at all.
I have tried adding more narration tracks that didn't work.
I have tried rendering it in different format files didn't work.
And I have even uninstalled and reinstalled premiere elements 12 and it still glitches on that one video
    Anybody have any ideas.

    tommy_lop
There is a known issue with Premiere Elements 12/12.1 in which addition of narration using the project's Narration Tool results in a loss of sound for audio on
numbered audio tracks and Soundtrack. Llamadude came up with a solution which is described in the following link
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2014/06/pe12-audio-losses-after-narration.html
Please review the solution and let us know if it works for you.
Another possibility...are you working with video audio that was recorded with a variable frame rate. If so, that might be a factor. In those instances, the problems range from audio out of sync to not being able to import the video audio file at all. The typical fix is to take the file into the free HandBrake to convert from variable to constant frame rate - result H.264.mp4 file with constant frame rate for import into the Premiere Elements project.
    https://handbrake.fr/
Please review and consider and then let us know if any of those considerations worked for you.
Also, what are the complete properties of the source media coming from these games recording?
    Thank you.

  • How to create professional quality HD Video with Premiere Elements

This is a guide for Premiere Elements 11 that can be adapted to other versions.
Professional video must be at very high bitrates (50-100 Mbps) to minimize quality loss
from compression across multiple generations, with chroma subsampling of at least 4:2:2.
(Many broadcasters will reject video below 50 Mbps.)
The best Computer preset options available in Premiere Elements 11 for professional output:
AVI: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed UYVY 422 8bit
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 10 bit 4:2:2
QuickTime: Advanced: Video Codec: Uncompressed YUV 8 bit 4:2:2
Best possible quality, but gigantic file size, may well be impractical.
    MPEG: HDTV 1080p High Quality
Use Advanced to set the Video: Profile to 4:2:2; check Render at Maximum Depth; and set Target Bitrate (Mbps) to 50-100. VLC Media Player can be used to play the output file. In general, this is the most practical standard option.
    AVCHD: MP4 - H264 1920x1080p
Unfortunately, only chroma subsampling of 4:2:0 is supported.
A good alternative to these standard options is to install and use the free Avid DNxHD codec, which is widely accepted professionally. Download and install it from here, and then reboot your computer. To use it in Premiere Elements, select Publish+Share: Computer: QuickTime: Advanced.
    In the Video tab:
Set Video Codec to Avid DNxHD Codec.
Click Codec Settings, and set desired Resolution (e.g., 1080p/29.97 DNxHD 36 8-bit).
Set Width and Height to 1920 and 1080 respectively.
    Set Frame Rate as desired.
Field Type should normally be set to Progressive.
Set Aspect to Square Pixels (1.0).
    Check Render at Maximum Depth.
    In the Audio tab:
Set Audio Codec to Apple Lossless.
Click OK, and Save your new preset with a meaningful name.
QuickTime can be used to play the output file.
    Hope that helps!

While consumers are indeed the intended audience of PE, it's nonetheless usable for professional output when you don't need the full capabilities and complexity of PP. I use both, and while I do sometimes need PP, I often find PE suited to the job at hand,
PE does support MPEG-2 4:2:2P@HL. (I just tested it in PE11 to be sure.)
AVCHD, while originally introduced as a format for consumer use, is now widely accepted as a professional format -- Panasonic and Sony both make professional AVCHD camcorders.
Regardless, I prepared this guide especially for those who don't use PP -- even with the easier pricing of CC, PP can be too steep a learning curve for an occasional professional job when PE can get it done.
