Can we build dimensions in empty outline using "DynamicDimensionBuild" meth

Hi there........ Iam trying to build dimension in outline which is empty by using "dynamic dimension Build" Method... it is saying the error is "Database outline is empty".
But Whenever outline contains one or more dimensions then I can build another dimensions using dynamic dimension build method...... I have a doubt that is empty outline wont allow dynamic dimension build method......?

Empty outline allows dynamic dimension build method,When your outline is empty, essbase juz throws this message.

Can you remove members from the outline using ESSCMD?

The product line dimension in my cube looks something like this:Product Line Product 1 Product 2 Service Parts Part 1 Part 2 etc.I have an automated script which builds the product line dimension, loads a new data set, and does a CALC ALL to roll up Part 1, Part 2, etc., into Service Parts. Once that rollup has occurred, I want to remove Part 1, Part 2, etc., from the outline, but I have not found a way to do that from ESSCMD. Is there a way I can automate the removal of members from a dimension?Any hints or suggestions are greatly appreciated.-jimb

You could create a new dimension build file for your products dimension but only down to the service parts level. then use a load rule with the remove unspecified box checked on the Dimension build setting tab. Unable to build dimension thru rule file using export from DRM

Hi All,
I exported a dimension from DRM in parent-child format and trying to load it thru rule-file into essbase. Everytime i load the data..it is throwing error. Iam confused whether the error is due to DRM file or Essbase itself?
Actually i wanted to show the client the syncup between DRM and Essbase, this is kind of POC. I created an ESSbase application and using outline extractor, extracted the individual dimensions and then converted it into DRM import and loaded there successful. After creation of Properties there and added few members under the hierarchy in DRM.Again exported the dimensions and wanted to load into the same Essbase Application which should reflect the member additions did in DRM. But this DRM to essbase thing is not happening.
Pls anybody help me in this.

Is there anything in the error log file that is generated when you load it in Essbase??
You got to find the reason in the error file and then we can help you out on this.

How can I build a double scale chart using iPad Numbers? Is it possible??

Hi everyone, I would really like to know how I can create a double scale chart using Numbers app for iPad.
Should I have the following data, how can I put together in the same charts?
Year: 1-2-3-4 etc (Axis X);
AuM: data1, data2, data3, data4 etc (Axis Y1)
Return on AuM: R1, R2, R3, R4 etc (Axis Y2)
I work this kind of chart out with the Mac, but I cannot find the same function in iPad app.

How can I build a new home page using iPhoto 4.0?

I have a current site on my .MAC account, and am trying to build a second home/photo page for a completly different & audience topic. When I attempt to add, my .MAC does nothing. Even when I attept to add a site by passwod protecting, it does not create a new site to load my photos from iPhoto. HELP!

Building base dimensions for an outline dynamically

I am trying to figure out a way to build my dimensions dynamically. I'm not referring to the members in the dimension,but the dimension itself. For example, when you create a new app and db and you view the outline in app mgr, all you see is the database name. How can I create the base dimension via a text file. Any help would be appreciated.

You can build all of your dimensions from scratch, starting from an empty outline, using a text file with one of the dimension names as its only data.Create a new load rule, then go to Options, Dimension Build Settings. On the Dimension Definition tab, click the option button for Rules File.Then, establish each dimension using the Name textbox and Add button. You can set each dimension's properties (dimension type, etc.) using the Properties button. You can't do Label Only, though, if you're not going to build any members under the dimensions.The load rule needs at least one non-ignored column of data, so pull in a text file that has just one string--one of your dimension names. Set the dimension build settings for that dimension to be Level, then define the column as Level 0 for that dimension.Good luck,Jared

In the log file I observe the message, Failed in initialization of log file. If anyone has faced this problem, please suggest how you could solve this? You can use rule files to build dimensions. You have to define the sql data source to build the dimension from the Oracle tables. Please follow given link which has all the details about building dimensions.

This can be using Msum function in answers. Use the following formula, here dollars is my metric. Change the formula based on your metric.
