Can we connect TV Tuner card to MacBook Pro

I would like to buy a Karaoke system, which needs TV tuner card to be connected to a laptop.  Can my MacBook Pro be connected to a TV Tuner Card?

I use one manufactured by Elgato.  You will need to install the appropriate software.

  • Can't Connect Via Ethernet on new MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I'm running into a frustrating problem and hoping someone can help.
I have a new MacBook Pro that won't connect via Ethernet. My old computer (Powerbook G4) with the same settings works flawlessly.
Details: under Network Settings I have Automatic/Using DHCP. When I click on Assist Me>Diagnostics, I get green lights all the way down (Built-In Ethernet, Network Settings, ISP, Internet, Server). The Diagnostics tool therefore proudly announces that my Internet connection is working correctly.
When I open Safari, however, it won't open any page. Using Ping I also get no responses.
When I plug the exact same ethernet cable into my Powerbook G4, everything works flawlessly. The only difference is that the IP address ends in .25 instead of .30 (I assume that's from the router assigning different IP addresses to the two computers.)
On another forum i read about someone having a problem with a long/lossy ethernet cable, but I just took my computer to the router and tried with a 2-foot ethernet cable. Same situation.
    Help!
    Thanks

i rebooted the firewall and it worked.

  • How can I connect 5.1 speakers to Macbook Pro 13 bought Summer 2011

    Hi all
I am very new to the mac world. Basically I need to know how I can connect my Macbook Pro 13" to a 5/1 set of speakers.
Do I need something to plug to mini display port?
    Thanks

I conclude that I cannot use any 5.1 Computer Speaker sets that go with my Macbook Pro 13 and get a real Dolby sound, right?
"Computer speakers" Basically no. They mosty are either stereo analog (for music playback) or 5.1 gaming PC speakers that are married to a 5.1 sound card for PC towers.
You would have to have a stereo reciever and 5.1 speakers that can accept:
    1: Toslink optical inputs
    2: Decode Dolby Surround Sound
3: The media your playing back must have a Dolby sound option.
Most 5.1 computer speaker setups are for gaming PC towers and takes a sound card that does the processing for each channel, has three analog wires
Wire 1: Left and Right front channels
Wire 2: Left and Right rear channels
Wire 3: Subwoofer and center, common ground (returns all the used electrons to complete the loop)
Your Mac has none of these, it's just a stereo analog, 2.0, a left and right channel, common ground (three sections on the plug)
So no you can't use a PC based 5.1 system on a Mac, unless you bridge the first two wires either with adapters or splicing the cables. Then it's not true surround sound, just two stereo channels that fills the room with sound.
With true surround sound, you can hear people creep up behind you, bullets whizz by your face, planes flying past overhead. It's a more immersive experinece.
So unless the "computer 5.1 speakers" has it's own Toslink optical inputs and decodes Dolby (and other) surround sound formats, has a built in amplifier to power speakers, then no. As most 5.1 comptuer speakers are designed for PC 3D gaming, thus inexpensive.
The Mac market for 3D gaming is rather small, tiny in fact. I haven't seen any "computer speaker" setup with the required stuff to playback true suround sound.
Mac's are used for music and video production, that's why they have the better optical ports.
Your just going to have to buy a home theater system to playback Dolby 5.1

  • Can I connect an iMac AND a MacBook Pro at the same time on icloud ?

I arrived without a problem connecting my MacBook Pro icloud but I can not open a session with my iMac when I get the Apple ID and my password and he said "The login is currently impossible.Try reconnecting" and below the two boxes there writes : "Apple ID or password not recognized". I do not understand why, while on the same iMac I connect without problem on www.icloud.com

After 1 or 2 reboot system I managed was enter my MacBook Pro my AppleID and it is connected I managed so to have the flow of "Stream Photo" from my iPhone 4 S to my iPad 2 on the MacBook. But incomprehensible how the function "find my Mac" not recognize the MacBook Pro in "iCloud.com" or App in the iPhone 4 / iPad 2. Thus I do little "see the iMac, iPhone 4 and my iPad 2" and not the Macbook Pro !?!

  • Can I connect three projectors to my MacBook Pro? (not mirrored)

I am doing the scenery for an opera, which is supposed to be projected onto the flats using three different projectors.  What I would like to do is hook up all three projectors to my MacBook Pro, and have different parts of the scenery show up on each projector--meaning that the displays will not be mirrored.  Can this be done?

I created a similar set up using multiscreener and a few mac minis driving individual projectors and yet synced via wifi. This meant that the projectors+mac only need to be connected to power and not to each other.
    http://www.zachpoff.com/software/multiscreener/
MultiScreener is a set of free applications that synchronize the playback of Quicktime movies on multiple computers, using a local network to tie them all together. (It can also sync multiple movies on the same computer using multiple monitors.)

  • Can we upgrade the graphic card on macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch mid 2012. I am wondering can i upgrade the graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M discrete processor with up to 1GB of video memory?

Nope - you're stuck with the Intel 4000. If you wanted a higher-performance GPU, you should have bought a 15".
    Sorry,

  • Can we add external graphic card on macbook pro

can we add graphic card to my macbook pro late 2011
    i7 processor

Not yet, no. MSI is showing an early demonstration of a Thunderbolt peripheral that will host an external graphics card, so there may be a solution eventually though it currently is Windows-only. See:

  • Can't connect to netgear wifi with macbook pro

I have a Netgear N900 router and although I can find the signal I cannot connect to the wifi.  Each time I clicked on it, it would fail to connect and say to move closer to the router.  However the router has already been upgraded to make the signal strong enough to reach my room.  I have tried restarting the router and it has not worked.  I have gone into the router through my browser and reserved an IP address and changed my network settings on my computer to "using DHCP with manual address" and entered the reserved IP address.  I restarted my computer but now my macbook pro says that it is connected but I can't connect to the internet when i open a browser.  I'm not sure if I'm not reserving the IP address correctly or if there is another solution to this problem.  If anyone has encountered this problem and found a solution that would be amazing.  I have been trying for a month now to fix this. Thanks!

  • Can i change a graphics card in macbook pro retina 15?

Dropped a coke on macbook pro retina 15 and need to change a graphics card can i do it???

The gfx hardware is integral with and soldered to the logic board, so "no" to your question.
If you have a black screen after a spill of a carbonated (= mildly acidic) drink, you've probably zapped more than graphics hardware.
Many such spills are not recoverable. The repair price can approach the cost of a new computer. If you have honmeowners'/renters' insurance, put them on notice of the accident ASAP. Many people have found that their home policy covers accidental damage to electronics including computers, subject to a deductible. Often it's the only financial help you'll get in recovering from a liquid disater.

  • Can't connect Apple Wireless Trackpad to MacBook Pro

I have a 15" MacBook Pro that is about 6 months old running Lion. I have a Magic Mouse and a Wireless Trackpad. I always use the track pad. I have the same setup at home as at work. Yesterday I worked from home, today I'm back at work, but now my Trackpad at work won't connect. My magic mouse connects just fine. I replaced the batteries and that didn't help. I got another wireless trackpad off of someone else's desk and it won't connect either. So it seems to be just an issue with the Trackpad as my Magic Mouse works fine. But I prefer the trackpad because the magic mouse flares up my RSI.

Nevermind. I fiddled & fiddled an it finally connecting. It seemed to work when I was in the wireless trackpad connection screen, while searching for the device I would hold the button on my trackpad until the light turned off, then pressed it once again. It then pulled up the name of my trackpad. I selected the name of the trackpad and while it was trying to connect I did the same thing - hold the button down until the light turned off, then clicked it once immediately after.
Now I see why they call it a magic trackpad. It requires magic to get it to connect.

  • I can't connect my iphone5 to my Macbook Air via Bluetooth?

Can someone please tell me why I can't connect my iphone5 to my Macbook Air via Bluetooth?
Is this just the most ridiculous oversight or is there some underlying reason why this doesn't connect and function properly? How amazing would it be if I could just click on a contact number and dial from my phone like I could in 2008 via my Lenovo and my Blackberry. This blows my mind that two devices that scream compatibility are far from it. From my bluetooth options it see my device, then sends a code, I confirm and then it briefly connects only to disconnect almost immediately. #fail #appleoversight #failfailfail
Fix it or I'm going back to PC ****
