Can we copy a region to another application?

I have a region which contains a lot of items and I want it to be also in another application....
Is there any way to copy it?

The pre condition to any kind of copying is that the source and target application shares the same workspace, or the same workspace ID.
AFAIK, you can’t directly copy a region from one application to another, nor to export it as a component. However, you can copy a region between two pages on the same application, and you can export a sing page, or copy it between applications. Hence, the only solution I can think of, to your situation, is to export the source page containing your region; Import the page into your target application, copy the region from the new page into your existing page, and delete the newly imported page. It seems like a lot of work, but for a complex region, it can be worth it.

Can't drag a photo to another application in Photos now

Among the MANY problems and loses of functionality when going from iPhoto to Photos is the inability to drag a photo to another application. It appears that I must export the photo to the desktop and then drag to the other application. This involves several additional steps and is much less efficient than in iPhoto. If I am only moving on photo, it is not as big of a deal, but when I have to export many photos it wastes a lot of time.
Am I missing something?

New app "Photos" can't edit a photo in another application

new app "Photos" doesn't allow user to edit a photo in another application. iPhoto allows me to edit a photo in Photoshop.

I Can't copy the vi after build application

I copy the vi and make it run using vi server, it works great in the development environment. But when i build application,
it seems to can't copy. I know the path of application is different with development environment. the VI is in a internal.llb of exe.
I try many ways of copy the vi, and place a indicator on the path of the copy vi, but every time I find it is "not a path"
Why?

There are all kinds of differences between LV and the run-time engine, but I don't think they should affect copying of VIs (even built ones). I suggest you post your code so we can look at it.
By the way, if you what you want is multiple copies of your VI, all you need to do is rename its extension to vit and call it using VI server. A new copy will be created in memory each time you do this with each copy having its own memory space and FP. Search the example finder for VI templates and you will probably find some examples.
Addition - if you're trying to copy the VI into the exe, that is probably the reason for this as the exe would be write protected when it's running and you can't write into it. You shouldn't change an executable yourself anyway, as I think they're signed and changing them might cause the RTE not to run them.

How can I copy a clip to another video track?

I've been fiddling around to find a solution to this, but to no avail...
I have a video track containing a couple of clips. Now I want to copy a clip and paste it onto another video track in the same sequence. This seems to be an impossible task...
How can I do that?

Right click on the clip in the timeline you want to copy. Select "copy". Then select in the timeline the video track you want to copy TO. Place your CTI (current time indicator) in the timeline where you want your clip to get pasted. Then Go to your PrPro menu in the header, select EDIT>PASTE. Voila!
What may confuse you and make it seem impossible is that you can right click on a clip in the timeline and "copy". But when you go to right click and "paste" no context menu opens up. You can of course use the EDIT>COPY and EDIT>PASTE command as well.
And what works even more easily is you can just use your Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V commands. You can also copy and paste into the same video track and then just click and drag the new copy to whatever video track you want.
All of the above will copy and paste your audio tracks as well. If you want to just copy the video then use the Alt key when selecting and it will only select the video or audio depending on what you try to select.

Can itunes playback be paused when another application (such as Quicktime) plays audio?

I listen to music using iTunes all the time on my Mac. However I am constantly having to listen to snippits of audio from recordings that I have made, and I would ideally like to briefly pause iTunes during playback.
Is there a way to automatically cause iTunes to pause its playback when another application generates audio output? When you make a call on Skype this seems happens, and so I just want to replicate this functionality on other applications that can play back audio files.
PS: I know I can simply go to iTunes and pause it, but hey, this is all about finding really easy ways to do things you do a lot and it's annoying (and distracting) to have to do all those extra keystrokes.

Hate to say it but its still a problem with iTunes although better with 7.0.1.... at least on the Win side of things.

IPod can't be restored due to another application

Here's the scoop....I have a iPod Photo 40GB and I have the latest iTunes 7.0 installed on my computer. Whenever I plug my iPod into my computer iTunes will detect the iPod and show the summery in the main window but when I try to restore the iPod it gives me the following error.
"The iPod "B's iPod" cannot be restored because it contains files that are in use by another application."
Any ideas on what I should do?
FYI, my iPod shows up as a P drive due to my network connections. Could this possibly have something to do with my Disk Management?

I used the MSCONFIG to troubleshoot this problem and I think I may have fixed it.

Hi experts,
I have an old universe which contain a very complex access restriction setting. It is time consuming if I create it again in a new universe.
I tried to delete all objects from the old universe and then create the new objects on this cleaned universe, however this method creates some serious bugs.
Therefore how can I copy the access restriction from the old universe to the new universe?

If the old universe are upgraded from previous version (eg: from R2 to 3.1)
You should not remove the contents in the old universe and then build some new objects in this universe. It will create some unexpected bugs.
You should rebuild a new universe from the beginning.
If the old universe are not upgraded, you can remove the contents in the old universe and then build some new objects in this universe so that we can keep the access restriction.

Can it be done (drill into another application seamlessly from dashboard)

Is it possible to drill from a BI EE Dashboard report directly into another non-Oracle web based application? For instance, we move budget data at a summarized level into our data warehouse, which is available as a report in BI EE. If the user wants to see more granular detail, I'd like ot allow them to click a link and automatically log them into the web app by passign their ID and password in the url for the separate web application.
Note that their ID and Password for BI EE and the web application are identical.

Yes you can achieve by passing required parameters to underlying report through url parameters.

Can't copy .mov files to another drive, get msg

Hi
I've been trying to copy some .mov files (ext. isn't showing, btw) to another drive. When I do I get this msg, 'The operation can't be completed because the item "blah blah" is in use.
I also have gotten this msg when copying the folder: 'The operation can't be completed because the item ".DS_Store" is in use.
Then I tried creating a new folder to put them in, and I get this msg, "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (error code -50).
QT isn't open. The only apps open are Firefox and Word.
I tried adding both drives to Spotlight's Privacy in System Prefs. No help.
Any ideas?

Am I right thinking Tinker Tool allows you to choose from that list of details on this page <http://www.bresink.com/osx/0TinkerTool/details.html>, and doesn't simply enable them all?

Can't copy and paste in any application- need help!

I haven't been able to paste text in any application. I can copy and cut, but it won't let me paste. I've tried "apple V" and edit->paste (but the "paste" option is light grey= not an option). Nothing works and i'm getting frustrated!

When I opened up the clipboard after copying, it shows an old text segment that I copied. It won't let me delete it...does this mean my clipboard is frozen?

I am trying to copy a sheet from one file into another. Is that possible in Numbers?

Open both documents.
Click on the sheet icon of the sheet you want to Copy fom the Source document. Copy
Switch to the second document.
Click on the icon of one of the Sheets on that document. Paste.
The copied sheet (and its contents) will be pasted into the list immediately below the selected sheet.

IPhoto: can't copy my library to another drive

I'm trying to back up (and ultimately move) my 94GB iPhoto library to an external harddrive and just before it finishes copying I get a message that says, "The Finder can't complete the operation because some date in "iPhoto Library" can't be read or written. (Error code - 36). Is there a way for me to find what data might be corrupt so I can move my Library? My Library is currently on an external drive Passport drive.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear; the source drive is Windows FAT32 and has the iPhoto library, the destination drive is a Lacie formatted with Mac OS Extended and is empty.
I haven't been successful after four attempts to copy by dragging library to destination drive.

We know in applet for the security reason you can not access the getSystemClipboard from the Swing component like JTextField. But We know that with AWT TextField, you can copy and paste from another application. My question is how AWT textfield implemented with this feature. I don't think it is via the systemclipboard. Can some explain this for me?

the simplest way is to select the part of charactors and drag them into your textfield ^O^
