Can we delete all bookmarks ? and other syncing problems

Can we delete all iphone bookmarks in 1 go ?
i want to erase all iphone bookmarks because when i sync my iphone to my pc using itunes it causes a huge waste of time for me as i also use xmarks the firefox and internet explorer browser addon, basically the thousands of bookmarks i have get in a right mess ( yes i know i have loads of bookmarks its because i blog about websites so ive now made maybe 100 plus folders in my bookmarks to put sites into categories now) but these folders get dulicated but most with nothing in them, also many new sites ive bookmarked on my iphone then get put alphabetically on my pc browsers so i spend hours dragging them into the correct folders....please help can we erase all iphone bookmarks in 1 go? if so how? if i can do this id then sort all my firefox bookmarks and use xmarks to sync them to ie8 (internet explorer8) browser then id like to plug my bookmarkless iphone into the pc so when it syncs with ie8 it should get all the newly sorted out nicely categorised bookmark folders ive spent days sorting out ! please help thanks. also is there a way to bookmark a site on the iphone and select which folder to save it in just like if i did it using firefox ?

I should think that if you remove the checkmark for syncing bookmarks to the phone and then do a sync, they would be removed from the iPhone. Can't guarantee that, as I'm not in a position to try it.
As far as adding a bookmark on the iPhone: when you are at the site, touch the "+" sign at the bottom of the page. Select Add Bookmark. When the Add Bookmark screen comes up, just above the keyboard, there is a selection that should start out as bookmarks, and there is an arrowhead beside it. Touch that and it will bring up all of your bookmarks and folders. Select the folder and save it.

If it's activation locked, you can't; go back to the shop and ask for a refund.

  • Can I delete all files and users (including admin account) without re-installing SL?

I have a 1st generation Macbook Air, running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  Just bought myself a new MBA, want to sell the old one (privately, not soliciting here).
The original install disks were Leopard.  I bought a family pack SL and upgraded the MBA at that point.  Earlier this year I sold my old Mac Mini (when I upgraded) and included the SL install disks with that sale (stupid of me).
Now I want to sell the old MBA.  Ideally, I'd have a clean install on SL on it, minus all previous files and accounts.  I've done that before when selling old computers, reformatted / erased the HD, then reinstalled the OS.  But I don't have the SL disk anymore, and I don't really want to pay for it just to prep this notebook for sale.
    AFAICT, my options are:
wipe the HD and reinstall Leopard (the only OSX disks I have).  Whoever buys it from me would need to upgrade to SL themselves, and from there to Lion if they want.
somehow try to delete all files and users without touching the current install of SL.  I'm not terribly worried about security of what little information is on the MBA (nothing important to me), so I don't mind trashing files and then emptying trash instead of wiping the HD block by block.
Any ideas for how to do #2?  I can trash all files/folders under /user, uninstall all applications and delete their folders from Library, uninstall all browsers except Safari and wipe the history from that...
Is there other stuff I should be deleting?  plist files, maybe?  I'm leery of messing around too much and disrupting the install of the underlying OS.
Can I also delete the admin account (or rename it "admin" with a generic default password?)?
    Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

Trashing files you have created is relatively easy. Getting rid of an account is a bit harder. Trashing the .plist files, etc., that may contain personal info is a lot harder, and there is always the risk that you will miss something.
Best, and easiest, and customary, is to do option #1 - wipe the drive and re-install the original OS from the original disk set. The receiver of the machine can then decide which OS they want to upgrade it to, and purchse accordingly.
The original disk set for that machine should be included with it when it is sold.

  • How can I delete all songs and data from my 80GB ipod classic without opening itunes?

I have an older 80GB ipod classic that works but will not play any songs. I'm trying to delete all songs and data from the hard drive to see if that will fix the problem, however, it will not appear in my itunes. I've tried various ways to help it appear in my itunes but I do not want to delete my itunes because I have another ipod that has all those songs on it.
I was wondering if there was a way to restore my ipod back to the beginning without having to go through itunes. Thanks!

It might, but I wouldn't bet much on it.  Either way, give it a shot.
Otherwise, if appears in Windows an external hard disk, try a low level reformat of the device's hard drive.  See here for instructions on how to do this.

  • How to delete all bookmarks and replace with backup?

Trying to sync my new iPad with my MacBook Pro and iPhone via MobileMe has created some fun new problems. For starters: I now have a full set of duplicate Safari bookmarks. Two of everything.
Fortunately, I (think) I made a safe backup before performing the fateful merge (suggested by Sync) that caused the duplicates. So now I'd like to delete ALL my bookmarks and re-import the saved backup bookmarks.
But I can't figure out how to delete all my bookmarks at once. It looks like my only choice is to delete them one at a time. Is there some way to simply trash the entire bookmarks file and re-import the ones I saved?

    HI Adam,
You can use Safari Prairiefire to find duplicate Safari Bookmarks.
    http://www.balooba.se/baloobasoftware/index.html
After you install the software which you can use in demo version to do this click the Get Bookmarks tab. Then from the menu click: Tools / Check Duplicates.
I've had the same thing happen using my MobileMe account also.

  • How can I delete ALL music and SOME video from my iPad?

I have a MB Pro running Yosemite (10.10.1), and and a 2nd Generation iPad Air (iOS4.3.3.)
I'd like to keep some, but not all of my video library on my iPad, and delete all the music from it.  (I have my music on my iPhone 6+, and don't need it on the iPad, as I carry them both with me all the time.)
Thanks in advance for your help.

Use the sync feature and settings in iTunes. you'll be able to do it from within iTunes.

  • Safari stops responding when I try to bookmark (and other slow problems!)

Two weeks ago my logicboard died, so I sent my ibook out to Apple for it to be fixed. Ever since I got it back this past Tuesday, my Safari has been extremely slow, but nothing else is wrong with my computer. Here are the problems:
    - The biggest issue is that Safari stops responding when I try to make a bookmark. The popup appears to select the bookmark's destination and to enter the name, but when you hit ok, the rainbow wheel comes up and it stops responding, so I have to reset Safari, and now I can't make new bookmarks at all.
    - It lags when it tries to open new windows, especially new tabs.
    - If a new page loads that scrolls at all, and then I try to scroll down, the wheel appears for several seconds until it can load the rest of the page. It's as though it gets stuck before it can scroll.
    - Sometimes when typing, it will also start to lag behind my typing speed, or if I try to click on a new field, it will not immediately allow me to type on occasion.
All these things have never happened before I sent it out. I have reset my cache, and I have tried entering the open DNS addresses in my networks, which has improved loading speed, but hasn't fixed any of these problems. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong and how I can fix anything?

    Try verifying the hard disk.
Boot from your restore disk while holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo, then let go of the C key. You'll see an Installation window, select English. From the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD 10.x.x in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab, then click Verify. If DU reports errors, click Repair. If Disk Utility cannot repair the disk you have several options. One is DiskWarrior or
TechToolPro If Disk Utility can repair any errors, go back to the Menu Bar, click Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
If you don't have a restore disk, try booting into Safe Mode

  • How can I delete all photos and redo transfer

In a nut shell: Bought a new iMac. Transferred all data over from my old iMac. Must have goofed it up because I ended up with triplicates of every photo in iPhoto. Ran two different photo dulpicate destroying plug-ins. Still left with, literally, thousands of duplicate photos in all manner of formats. I would like to delete entire photo library and redo transfer from old machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Drag it to the Trash and empty it.
    Next time
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

I connected my ipad to my computer to sync my photos and it deleted all my apps, they synced back on to my ipad but all my Noteshelf apps items were deleted, how can I get these back?

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Read the User Tip that razmee209 linked for you in the post above. If nothing in there works, there May be something on your iPad that is corrupt. Backup the iPad, restore to factory settings, and them restore the backup. If that doesn't fix it, restore as new and download all of your purchased content again.

  • I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks. Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't help. The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.

I can not delete my history and adding new bookmarks.
Upgrading to later Firefox versions and/or re-installing didn't rectify it either.
The address bar still shows the web addresses of old and whenever I make new bookmarks, it's always gone as if it was never made.
Also, I have noticed that every once in awhile you can not close tabs you've opened, either by pushing on the X button and/or clicking on the mouse to close it. Although closing the window and opening it again (without closing the Firefox application) seemed to rectify the problem in the short term, it's becoming quite annoying.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== the Firefox is being used

    I think I have a solution.
First, download the add-on SQManager. This should be included with FireFox, it is really good.
Look for the file '''moz_hosts''' in the folder '''places.sqlite'''.
Don't delete the file, just delete the information in the file. My file has over 3600 websites, which go back years!! I did not know they were there, but I was frustrated about not being able to get rid of them. They popped up every time I used the address bar. Clearing my history would not get rid of them.
This is where they are stored!! I found that by deleting the pesky web site from '''moz_hosts''', it does not appear in my address bar anymore!!!
I think that if I just delete all the websites in moz_hosts....
    Wa-la...History Gone!!!
As long as you don't delete the file, just empty it, FireFox won't know the difference. It will just keep adding websites to it until you empty it again.
Why running "clear recent history" doesn't do this, I don't know. You are doing manually what "clear recent history" is not doing.
Please tell me if you see any flaw in this.
