Can we do repair full after re-intiliazing datasources?

Hi Experts,
I work in Production support environment. We are currently involved in bringing back the missed delta records. Currently, we have put our Process chain on hold. We are undertaking Repair Full request activity. Daily, we have been doing manual loading of current data. My doubt here is, since we are doing Repair Full Request, we have not re-initialized.
Can we go ahead and schedule our process chain by re-initializing our datasources? If we do like this, can we do repair full for the past data?
Your suggestion will save our time & work load...............
Thanks In Advance,

Hi...
Are you in BI 7.0......
If yes......it means ...you are executing a Full Repair infopackage till the PSA......you have not touched the delta Infopackage ....right ?
After that you are fetching the data from PSA till the target using either delta or full DTP....right ?
if that the case you don't need to do re-init........delta will work fine......
But the thing is you should not run Delta and Full Reapir in parallel.......technicall you can do that.....
But it will result duplicate records in the cube level......and also if there is any DSO where the aggregation type is Summation......
Once Full repair is done.......then again you can start the delta......
One more point I want to mention here.......if you are not using the Process Chain delta DTPs.......and using any Full DTP......then youy have to run all the delta DTPs which are included in the Process Chain with the option "No fetch; No data".............otherwise the Delta DTPs will again fetched the same records which will result duplicate data......

Debjani.......

• Diff between init with data transfer and repair full request

hi,
i have observed that even in the new flow we are doing init without data transfer and then repair full request
if i do init with data transfer also i can achieve the same?
i want to know why we need to do this ,do we have any advantage of doing init without transfer and repair full request?
please suggest me

Hi Venkat,
A repair full request is loaded in cases where you get erroneous records or where there are missing records which you want to load. In such cases, a repair full request for the selective records can be loaded and is the most efficient way to correct the data, since you won't be required to load the entire data once again. Also you acheive the desired result without disturbing the delta. (You are not required to do an init w/o data transfer after a repair full, people just do it a a precaution)
However, repair full requests should only be loaded to infoproviders with update mode 'overwrite'. Otherwise, if the InfoProvider, its very probable that you might double the value of the key-figures due to rows being added twice - in case of an InfoProvider with update mode 'Additive'. So, if your InfoProvider is additive, you will need to delete the entire data and do an 'init with data transfer' to avoid corrupting the data. (Note: you can do a repair full request for an additive infoprovider in case of lost records or if you can delete erroneous records with selective deletion. But you have to be careful with the selections lest you inadvertently load other records than required and corrupt the data)

• Upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks failed - disk is damaged and can't be repaired.

Hello,
I'm afraid the answer is exactly what I don't want. But here is my situation.
I've been trying to download and install Mavericks - I was running Snow Leopard. My system was working fine - I wanted to upgrade so that I could run a game on it - but it required Mavericks.
Finally, it looked like Mavericks was installing. Once I restarted my computer, I got the following message:
"Install Failed. OS X could not be installed on your computer (there's a big scary yellow triangle with an exclaimation point in it below this). The OS X upgrade couldn't be started because the disk Macintosh HD is damaged and can't be repaired. After your computer restarts, back up your data, erase your disk, and try installing again. Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
Every time I restart, I get the same message, I can't back up my data and erase my disk like it wants me to; it won't let me. I can't get back to my normal computer. I've tried restarting in Safe Mode, but it doesn't work - it just keeps restarting over and over again. If my computer is really this determined to not let me have Mavericks, fine, but I at least want my old computer back. As it is now, I can't do anything on it besides restart it.
If I could just get to Finder, I could save some files and just reformat it - if the hard disk can be repaired. Even if it can't, I just need my documents. Here is the Installer Log:

You are never going to have the option to repair a disk if you are booted from the same disk.
I think the place to start is boot off your Snow Leopard DVD install disk by holding down the C key on boot up.
Under Utilities drop down menu you will have access to Disk Utility.
From here you will have the option to repair Disk (ie not grayed out.)
option: Either insert and wait for the Mac OS X Install DVD window and double-click the Install icon; or power down, then start up while holding down the "C" key. Either way, that takes a few minutes.

• Failed install of OSX Mavericks and my iMac is now saying the Macintosh HD is damaged and can't be repaired! Help!

I need help getting my iMac working again.
Last night I tried to install OSX Mavericks, my previous/current OS is 10.6.8
After restarting the Mavericks install screen appears and then stops and give me this error message:
"Install Failed
OS X could not be installed on your computer.
The OS x upgrade couldn't be started because the disk Mackintosh HD is damaged and can't be repaired. After your computer restarts, back up your data , erase your disk and try installing again.
Click Restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
I tried restarting numerous time but to no avail.
Please help!

Have you got back to restore from if all else fails?
Try booting from the grey restore disk that came with the Mac: disk in drive and restart holding down the 'c' key. Hopefully it'll boot, albeit slowly. At the first screen select your language and from the menu bar of the next screen choose Utilities>Disk Utility. Select Macintosh HD>Repair Disk. Hopefully DU wil repair the errors. Click on repair disk again until you get a clean pass. Try to restart as normal from the Apple menu.

I have an iMac mid 2010. After Disk utilities said the drive was corrupt, I ran the hardware test (extended) 3 times. No problems. I than ran Disk utility again and got 2 messages in red…keys out of order, and ……Volume corrupt, can't be repaired.
I tried to do a system install, but message said…disk can't be changed. Will a complete erase and install fix this ?
Everything is backed-up.

There's hardware and software.
Your drive could physically be in good condition but something has caused the file structure to be messed up (it just happens sometimes). The directory that keep track of files is corrupt. Disk Utility can help determine if that is the issue. In some cases it can repair the problem but it cannot do it to a drive that is being used to boot the system while you are doing that. You have to boot from another drive. Some things DU cannot repair and you need to try a stronger utility such as Diskwarrior.
A failing hard drive (one with mechanical issues) can be a cause of file structure issues but this is by no means always the case. Apart from looking at the SMART diagnosis feature of Disk Utility (and smart isn't totally reliable) there often isn't a way to tell if a drive is failing until it suddenly happens, which is why you need to maintain backups.
In your situation it does sound serious and not just minor directory corruption. You can try erasing (formatting) the drive, You may need to do this if it is really corrupt, in which case there could be underlying physical issues. I use old technology but if you have the patience you can try erasing the drive with the security option of writing zeros once (don't do more unless you are going on a 3 week vacation). This makes the drive not simply assume everything is okay by forcing it try every part of the drive by writing data. If something is gong wrong you may find it marks a lot of bad sectors, or flat out refuses to format. Then you know you need a new drive.

What Apple store told you they wanted $249.00 to tell what is wrong?
If this is a 13" Macbook Pro then that is the cost of the Extended Applecare warranty. As you are outside the 90 days of Free Phone Support then what Apple told you is that to get Phone Support you would either need to pay $45 per phone call or pay $249.00 for the Applecare extended warranty which comes with 3 years Free Phone Support from date of purchase.
Or you can take it to a Apple Genius Bar and have them look at it for Free.
Every Mac comes with 1 year warranty and includes only 90 days of phone support. You can buy the extended Applecare warranty anytime within the first year of ownership, IE until the 1 year warranty runs out.
I suggest you have your computer looked at by either an Apple Authorized Repair Center or Genius Bar and then before the 1 year warranty runs out buying the extended warranty

• Disk utility recomends backing up files after hard drive can not be repaired?

My Mac mini will not complete the boot process. I am able to get to the disk utility by using the Snow Lepard disk that I recently purchased and pressing the option key. Disk utility is telling be that my disk can not be repaired and I should back up as much data as I can and reload the software.
Is there another disk repair program that could possibly fix what disk utility can not? Is it worth a try?
If not...
How do I back up data on the mounted disk since I can not access it? Do you recommend a perticular external hard drive and software to manage my backups?
Thank you.

• My iPad Air crashed and won't restart after the blue screen of death. Can it be repaired in store, for how much and how long?

My iPad Air keeps on crashing and then a blue background would come up. To make the iPad restart I have been doing the hold-down-the-home-button-and-start-button-at-the-same-time technique. It's been a short term fix. Recently this has been occurring more often, this time I didn't press anything and it just went black.
IM taking it to the Apple Store tomorrow I'm just wondering can it be repaired or will I have to buy a replacement or will I. Get a free replacement as the iPad is still under warranty. If it was repaired in store how long would it take and how much would it cost??

Have you tried restoring to factory settings > Restoring iPod to factory settings
This is a usesr to user forum. You are not communicating direclty with Apple here.
Whether or not they will replace the iPad is entirely up the representatives at the Apple Store. Hopefully the warranty will cover any repair costs.

• How to delete repair full request

Hi,
There was a delta load scheduled in background. By mistake before the delta load a repair full load with particular company code selection was run. So after the delta load, data is duplicated in the system. Now the request is compressed. I want to delete this repair full load request from the ODS. Please let me know step by step solution for this.
Thanks.

Hi,
from where u r loading data into cube from ODS or R/3. if u run a repair full load then it will not check the data mart symbol although it is successfull so the next delta will brings data again, so u have to run init with out data transfer to make deltas 0 in source. this happened in ur case .
but the cube is compressed so u cant delete data request based
is there any PSA there if there is PSA then u can use REVERSE POSTING from PSA this will brings key figure values with - values so the records will be nullified
in manage of the cube -> select that repair full request -> click on monitor button -> u can find an icon in the top(psa request symbol with red mark) click on that and execute.
if there is no PSA then u have to do selective deletion.
assign points if it helps,
thanks,
pavan.

• My refurbished rMBP 15" has a stuck (white) pixel and is still under the 1 year limited warranty, can/will Apple repair it if I go to an Apple Store?

Hi, my refurbished rMBP 15" has a stuck (white) pixel and is still under the 1 year limited warranty, can/will Apple repair it if I go to an Apple Store?
I just discovered today that my MacBook has a "stuck" pixel. I read that the display has to have at least 5 dead/stuck pixels else Apple is not going to repair it, is it true? My warranty expires in 1 month so I can't really wait for 4 more pixels to die or get stuck.
Temporary fix:
I know that this is something I can't really repair myself, but I tried some things such as changing the display resolution to it's "Full" 2880x1800 resolution and It actually reduced the size of the stuck pixel.
Thank You,
Etienne
MacBook Pro 15-inch (Mid 2012) with Retina display (2.3Ghz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, GT650M)

Hello etienne255,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with questions concerning pixel anomalies:
About LCD display pixel anomalies for Apple products released before 2010 - Apple Support
If you suspect your display contains a high number of pixel anomalies, take your Apple product to an Apple Authorized Service Provider for closer examination.

• DTP Questions: Delete overlapping requests; Repair Full Request

Hello,
I'm new with the DTP concept in BI 7.0.
It is clear to me how DTP is working for normal loads like: full, delta, delta without data transfer etc.
But I don't see where I can specifies "Delete overlapping requests". Is this still possible in a DTP, or is it only possible by creating a Process Chain and insert the process-type "delete overlapping requests" ?
Also I have a question about "Repair Full request" using DTP. Is this option still possible ? Or do I have to create a DTP with extraction-mode = Full => Extraction from Active table. => Is delta than still working ?
Thanks for your input,
Wim

But I don't see where I can specifies "Delete overlapping requests". Is this still possible in a DTP, or is it only possible by creating a Process Chain and insert the process-type "delete overlapping requests" ?
This option is available only in Process Chains when u use DTP's.

Also I have a question about "Repair Full request" using DTP. Is this option still possible ? Or do I have to create a DTP with extraction-mode = Full => Extraction from Active table. => Is delta than still working ?
Full Load was made Repair Full to Initialize if loading an ODS but however you dont need to worry abt the same in Netweaver 7.0 as DTP is taking care of the loading from PSA to DSO.
Initialization can be done after a full load as the load is only till PSA ( At Datasource Level ).
DTP doesnot require any initialization.
U can jst do a Delta DTP after a Full DTP to a DSO or u can even start with a Delta DTP directly.
For the first time -> Delta DTP = Full DTP !!

• Is there any kind of Apple Company policy that Apple's iPhone can only be repair or service at the place from where the iPhone have bought?

Hello,
I'm Chintan from India. I have visited UK for study and brought iPhone 5 for me. I used it for about 16 days and now its started showing the problem of coverage. I mean, it shows "NO SERVICE" at the place of carrier name and tower symbol.
My query:
Do Apple have this kind of worthless service provider policy?
I have visited the local authorized service center and they are not accepting my iPhone 5 and telling me that they can not accept it for repair or service because I have brought it from UK. I have checked my iPhone 5 status on the Apple Site and it is showing full cover of Repair and Service, then why the local Apple Authorized Service Center is not accepting my iPhone 5?
Is there any kind of Apple Company policy that Apple's iPhone can only be repair or service at the place from where the iPhone have bought?
Kindly help me out as I'm stuck with the so called APPLE IPHONE 5.
Looking for the POSITIVE, SUPPORTIVE and HELPFUL reply.
Thank You

You should have read the warranty/support terms before you made your purchase. Had you, you would have found that iPhone warranty/support is only valid in the country of original purchase(except for the EU where warranty/support is EU wide). In your case, your warranty/support is only valid in the EU, as you have now found out...after your purchase. And, you are correct, they will not service the phone in India.
Always been this way with the iPhone.

• Using Repair Full to load Data

Hi Guys
I have to load several years of data. Being loaded into ODS and Cubes in delta mode. I want to break the load into small chunks to load in a controlled fashion. That's what I have planned to do
1- Initialize without data transfer
2-Run Repair full for each year from 2001 to 2006
3-Then start running the deltas.
I am just curious if u know if this method is going to work. Does the delta that i m going to run after running the last repair full will bring all the data again or just the changed records.
I also want to go back historically with repair fulls to make the current data available. Is this going to work or not. If not what should I do to load the data periodically.

Hi,
If you want to do this year load to cube then you can full load sepcifying the year in the infopacakge.
You need not run the program which i specified earlier for cube, but in case you want to do this load year full to ODS and in case delta load is going on in the ODS then you will have to first do the full loads for the years u want to and then excute the program and then carry on with delta loads.
I hope I'm clear.
In case you are not able to see the radio buttons then you can drop a mail to [email protected] and tell them that you are not able to give points for this post.
