1. Can we download a report into presentation server in background mode and it should be saved in excel. If so plz let me know how to do.
2. When i look into spool SP01 the report is not in proper format because the report output width is more than 255 characters and now how should i solve the problem to make it in correct format. Can we do this or not?. If so how

REPORT z_mm_rep_000047
                       LINE-SIZE 500
                       LINE-COUNT 65
                       MESSAGE-ID zca.
it is automatically increasing the width in the print settings when i increased to 500 from 255 but stil its not working.

Hi Jayasree,
You can download your file to application server in background scheduling.
In your program use OPEN DATASET command for achieving this.
How ever, as far as i know, it is not possible to download the file to presentation server in background job.

But now i need to do that. I need to download the data in excel file and the same program is scheduling in background.

Hi,
There is an alternative provided by SAP. The program RFCEXEC has to be installed locally on the PC.
In SAP R/3 we have to define a destination link to your local PC to the RFCEXEC program. And in the ABAP program we have to invoke the connection by calling the FM RFC_REMOTE_FILE.
I havent tried this before but a detailed documentation is available in this link.

OK, I tried them all. Hit Caps doesn't do anything. E-mail to myself--ok, I got it in Mail, but can't get it out of there. I can read it there, but what if I accidently delete that mail? I have Pages. Can't get the PDF into iCloud. Dragged it to "books" in I tunes, and it is there, but doesn't get to the ipad.
Apple didn't used to be this complicated!!!!!
Whoops! I quit iTunes, and reopened. It synced with my iPad, and lo and behold there in books is my PDF. Would sure be easier if when I plugged iPad in it appeared on my desk like a disk, and I could just drag and drop stuff.

I have the same issue. I restored an iPhone 4 for my 16 year old niece. Only stipulation was she use Find My Friends. While I was getting the apps for the phone I was unable to download one of the most important features. It would be great if they allowed 2 versions or incorporated support for iOS 7.1.2. We want to move file from application server to Shared folder, not on local machine. We checked FM which you guys have provided but those are not able to read file from application server.
We need this program to run in background so that we can use this in daily process chain.

Yes you can, but be sure you will not install it in the same home with 8.7 or later versions of database.

Downloading a file on presentation server

Dear All,
I have a requirement where in I need to run a custom report in the background (since it gives a short dump for max permitted time when run in foreground). However, I need to download a file with report output on the presentation server (user's desktop). Can you please help me know how can I download a file on user's desktop by running the report in background?

Hi Suraj,
I had also researched a lot for this requirement for my project. This requirement, to download the file to a local system by running a job cannot be done.
But there is a work around for this requirement, you can write a program to download the data to a "AL11" active directory in your the server( using an open dataset ). This program can be executed in background too, since we are writing the file to the server directory. If its a normal .txt file, you can ask the user to check it in AL11 or you can ask the basis team to copy that file from the active directory and send it to the user.
I think this will help you a little bit.

If you just need to download CR 2008 SP1, why don't you download it via the Support Portal
Support Portal -> Software Downloads -> BusinessObjects Downloads -> Support Packages and Patches -> C -> Crystal Reports 2008.....
If you don't have access or can't see the path mentioned above, you may need to request for access first.

Hi,
As said above it is generally not possible. Since your client most obviously doesn't like graphical background I would recomend storing data as till now, but show it with your own report in more userfriendly way. For example:
- as ALV Grid
- in excel with use of OLE either as embedded in SAP or new window (check transaction OLE for example)
- with use of webdynpro

Can't download files on Android from Server 2012 Essentials Remote Web Access

I have two servers, one with Windows Server 2012 Essentials, and the other SBS 2011. Employees like using Remote Web Access to log in from anywhere and have access to shared folders. It works perfect on a Desktop computer, but when they try to
use their Android tablets or phones, and want to download a file (e.g. a PDF) from one of the shared folders on the server, the download fails. When Microsoft was pushing 2012 they said RWA worked great on mobile devices, do I have to set up something
separately to make this happen?
I've completely disabled the firewall, and have ports 80,443,987, and 1723(just to be safe) all forwarded to the server.
I can log into the RWA site on the android, browse files and folders, but when I select a PDF to download, the download shows as if it's starting, shows in my android notification as if its going to start downloading (Shows MobileDownload www.mydomain.com)
but eventually after a few minutes, will time out and show "Download Unsuccessful".
Network connectivity is fine as I can do this on a Windows Desktop PC using any browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and successfully download anything I want.
UPDATE: I found this in the event handler when I tried to download something from a mobile device...

encounter this same issue? If you download different type files, will still this issue persists? You can upload a small file (such as a text file) to the share folder, then check if Android device can’t download it.
Based on your description, when logon a desktop computer, you will download files via RWA successfully. Please use the user account which logon computer to logon
the Android device, will still fail to download?
Please check if there has enough free space in Android devices that be used to save download.
When this issue occurred, please check the state of Android device in Dashboard. Besides, I suggest you should run the Best Practices Analyzer (BPA) and fix all
it can find. Then monitor the result.

i'm trying to download a simple list to the presentation server, but in a background process (part of an update rule for an infopackage). I´ve tried WS_Download and CALL METHOD o->gui_download etc but the job cancels with them since they seem only to run in frontend. Does anyone know of a more suitable function module?

You can do that using the GUI_DOWNLOAD. but at the same time , whatever thaelogon language is that should be installed in your system, then only the proper file will be downloaded ..
