Can we edit Text ?

I - for the life of me - can't find a way to edit text on it's layer once the check box has been clicked and the text layer is made...
We can transform, size, skew etc., using the tools under the move tool icon but I can't seem to find a way to actually EDIT text or change fonts once the layer has been created.. I am missing something ??
It's a pain to think that every time I want to change a word ( read make a spelling mistake ) or want to try a different font I have top delete that layer and start again ??
Thanks in advance,
Edit - Should also add that I am using the iPad version of PST....

svik12,
Understood this already it's not just a Android thing - - - the text is editable up until you click "OK" and create the layer...
After that point it is rasterized and no longer editable - meaning can't enter the layer and select the text, change font or change spelling...
The double edge of that sword of that process is that even if you export the file to your Photoshop via a PSDX file transfer - that same text layer is ALSO no longer editable in PS either....
Essentially once you have clicked OK and created the "text" layer - if you find you need to change spelling, add words, change fonting - - you have to delete the layer and start all over again...

  • How can I edit text tabs in Photoshop...?

how can I edit text tabs in Photoshop like in Illustrator that I can choose to view the tab rulers and edit the alignment on the tabs?
is it possible? otherwise I can't understand why I can use the tabs at all...
    thanks!

No, tab-formatted text is not editable in the manner you desire. As for your question - tab is just a character like any other. You are simply taking a given kind of implementation for granted, nothing more, but that must not necessarily be the case for all programs. An evil programmer just could assign the tab key to forward delete or any other fancy function just as he could make your space key draw funky symbols from a different Unicode range, if you get my meaning... so simply take it the way it is. If editable formatting is high on your wishlist:

  • IBooks Author - can't edit text on customized template

I've created a template and saved it to My Templates. However, when I select a layout (a chapter or section) and place it into my book, I can't edit the text. Where am I going wrong?

I tried the above but still can't edit text.
I'm inserting a page and then changing it to 2 Column.  It is linked to the first page.  If the first page has enough text, it overflows into the new page and I can edit it.
However, I want the new page to be stand alone.  So I remove the link to the first page.  The text disappears.  When I double click into either column, I can't add any text to this page.  I have to add a text box into the column, which of course isn't going to overflow into column 2.
The strange thing is that I have another page a little further up that is also 2 Column.  It is not linked to the first page but I can type text into it.  This text will overflow from column 1 into column 2.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

  • I can't edit text on a pdf file in adobe acrobat

I need to edit the text on the pdf file but I can't and this message keeps showing up: " This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.
There are no security on this file. The only thing that is not allowed is to create templates. When I check the document properties description, on the PDF producer it says adobe distiller 7.0.5 (windows)
I downloaded the adobe livecycle designer but I couldn't edit the text there either... When I open the file it says the text is not downloaded so it replaced it with another text, I clicked ok but then the text didn't change, This message showed up:
I really need to edit the text on this pdf file because it's important. Can anyone help? Greatly appreciate it. By the way, this is a pdf fillable form that you can fill out on acrobat and that is the only thing it seems like it will let me do this file. I don't want to fill it out, I want to edit whats on it. It's one of those forms that you get from NJ courts.

Ok, what we can tell you is that if this is a LiveCycle form (and we can be pretty sure it is), that you are absolutely right. Acrobat can fill it, and nothing else. These are a very special kind of PDF, where all the text is in a special XML format that Acrobat can only show, not edit.
So, you are on the right track: if it can be edited, you need LiveCycle Designer. Unfortunately, we don't know much about it in this forum, so please try posting here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecy cle_designer_es
If the form is publicly available, it may help if you include the URL (web address) when you post.

  • How can I edit text in a tagged PDF?

I have created an accessible test form in Acrobat Pro X.  Now that it has all been tagged and reading order touched up, the client wants to change the text.  Is there any way to edit text at this point or do I have to create an entirely new tagged accessible form (very time consuming)?
    I have tried:
TouchUp Reading order - when I select the block of text, nothing lights up on the TouchUp window
Form > Edit Document Text - I can place a cursor but it won't do anything.
    Thank you for any help!

For Tagged PDF the replace page approach ought to be avoided.
The behavior seen when replace page is used for an existing page having annotations is not present.
Insert of a tagged PDF into another PDF can be a problem as well. The "incoming" structure tree is always placed at the end of the existing structure tree.
Manually remediating this can become nasty very quickly.
Using the Touchup / Edit text tool on a 'good' tagged PDF ought to be avoided as well.
    Be well...

  • How can I edit text labels in a numeric display?

I have this numeric display, type U16, that displays specific messages, for example 'PASS' when the input is 1. I need to add another message.
I added a placeholder, for input = 3 (verified by the digital display) for the new message by rightclicking/'Add After' but I'm not able to add the new message. I can't edit the text (can't select it) for the existing messages either so I know I'm on the wrong track.
The G programming reference for LV 5.1 (page 9-17) says to use the labeling tool so I tried the 'Edit Text' tool on the tools palette. Is there another labeling tool? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Jeff,
It sounds to me as if your U16 ring control is, or is linked to, a typdef (Type Definition), which LabVIEW programmers can employ to impose sharp constraints on the way a control looks or behaves. This would explain why you can't edit the text items, or add one. The bit about adding an item for '3' is confusing, but maybe it has to do with the ring being set to allow undefined values.
I can't recall how to manage these things under LabVIEW 5.1, but in 7.x, I would right-click on the control and see if "Open Type Def" was one of my options; if so, this diagnosis is correct, and you can make your changes only be editing the actual type def. The changes would then automatically be applied to any other control or indicator that is linked to the same type def, which is a very powerful programming technique.
Your best move might be to read up on Type Definitions in your LabVIEW User Manual, or in Application Note 159, and then proceed.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Since upgrading to Firefox 18.0.1 on my Mac Pro, I often can't edit text, instead getting dreaded 'chirping'.

This is the wierdest thing - when I click in a text box the first time, it usually works. As long as I only use arrows to move text, it seems OK. When I try to click in a text field to edit text, or try to highlight text, both inside and outside text field, I get the dreaded chirping sound and can't edit, copy etc. After clicking a few times on the page outside the text field, I can again access and edit the text field. Does anyone else have this problem? It only happens in Firefox and only in the latest upgrade. I don't have this problem with Safari or Google Chrome.

    Hi,
I'm encountering exactly the same issue as described by redcat01.
    Hope someone could help :-)
Thanks in advance, and best regards.

  • How can I edit text in a copy of a document on my home PC?

A document created in Acrobat XI Std is on the server in the office.  I had the document emailed to me which I downloaded to my home PC.
I cannot edit existing text or images in the downloaded document.
I can do the following to the downloaded document:
Add new text boxes and images
Delete existing text boxes and images
Move existing text boxes and images within the document
Copy existing text boxes and images from the downloaded document and paste them into another document
Edit new text boxes and images that I've added to the document.
Both the office server and my home PC are running Windows and Acrobat XI Standard.
I've checked security and protection.  These do not apear to be a problem but I'm not absolutely certain.
Why am I unable to edit existing text and images in the downloaded document?
How can i remedy this problem?
PS.  The reverse is true also.  The office cannot edit text and images that I've added to the document.

    Hi Bill@VT,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner.  I caught the flu.
I just went to work for this company.  The company has been creating and maintaining these documents with Acrobat for may years.
I live 75 miles from the office.  The company has agreed that I can work from home.
The first attempt at this was emailing PDF documents back and forth.
I may need access to the company network via a VPN.
I have a lot experience doing these types of documents with MS Word and MS PowerPoint.  Then creating a PDF document from the docx and pptx..
The company wants to continue creating and maintaining the documents in Acrobat because everyone in the office knows how to do it.
So at this time I'll try to use  Acrobat.
Thank you for all your help.

  • Can't edit text in CS3 design view

    Hi,
I have a big absolutely positioned DIV tag in most of my
pages, practically the whole page content is inside it.
In DW CS3 design view very often (maybe 50% of all times) if
I click inside it to edit the text, DW selects the entire DIV tag.
The cursor becomes like a cross with arrows, the DIV border becomes
outlined with a thick blue line, and I can't edit the text no
matter how much times I click. If I move the mouse with left button
pressed, this moves the DIV and changes the .css file where the
position is defined. DIV can't be de-selected with Escape, left or
    right clicking.
The only way to get out of this is to click somewhere in the
code view, then go back to design view where hopefully text can be
edited. Sometimes I have to repeat this twice or even 3 times ,
it's extremely annoying and time consuming.
    Is there any workaround?
Like to disable selection of containers in design view, or at
least a quick way to deselect the current selection?
This problem does not appear in DW8 when editing the same
    files.
    thanks

    Nasty. Why?
Do you have an overflow style on this div?

  • Can't edit text in PDF

    Hi,
Using Acrobat Pro 8.1.7 intel mac plenty of ram. I've got a PDF from a client that comes with areas that I can supposedly change. However I get this message:
All or part of the selection has no available system font. You can not add or delete text using the current selected font.
The font is Helv Neue Roman TT. I have every Helv Neue but that one. If I buy it can I edit it?
Would Acrobat 9 do it easier?
    Thanks

You've ran in to one of the problems with editing PDF's. They really aren't intended for that type of editing.
You would need the "exact" font on your system and even then, it may not work.
If the creator of the file used say and Open Type Font (works on Windows and Mac) and you had the same one, that would be your best bet.

  • Can't edit text in Acrobat X Pro

I can't seem to edit text properly in a recently created PDF document, using Acrobat X Pro. I went to the help file, and followed the instructions, but it isn't working right. All I need to do is replace the numeral "8" with a "7" in a paragraph. When I finally get to the point to edit the text, I can delete the "8" but when I type "7', it creates a large space instead.
The instructions said that maybe I have to do something regarding the adobe font, so I did that, was able to finally enter a "7" but it messed up the formatting of the paragraph. Surely it can't be this hard to revise one character?

    Steve,
There are definitely folks out there that have had the same problem in Lion.  Just to cover the obvious basics however ... Select the clip with the text in it (we are talking about Titles, right?). Then position your timeline vertical playback marker somewhere in that clip.  Go up to the preview window and make sure the little rectangle icon in the lower left corner is Blue (enabled) ... a little horizontal line will appear near the center of the text area with a little circle on the end.  Then go to a word in your text and double click it.  Does it select the word? Making sure again that the text clip is actually selected on the timeline, if it does not select the text then I probably cannot help you.  There are other discussions on this topic, but I really do not know for sure if there are resolutions.  FYI, I use FCP X with Lion and 16GB on a 2011 21" iMac and use text titles about 20 times a week and do not have a problem at all.  Still I know the problems others are seeing are real.  Best wishes,
    stephen

  • Can not edit text in a PDF with Adobe acrobat professional version 8

I have a PDF doccument that I can not edit any of the text on. all it lets me do is slide the pages around like images but dose not allow me to delete or add any text. It is not password protected at all.
Any ideas on why this is and how to fix it so I can edit this 40 page pdf?
    Thanks,
    Tim

Document > OCR Text Recognition > Recognize Text Using OCR
In the Recognize Text dialog, click the "Edit" button.
In the Recognize Text - Settings dialog the middle entry has a drop-down menu.
From this menu you can select one of three PDF Output Styles.
    --| Searchable Image
    --| Searchable Image (Exact)
    --| Formatted Text & Graphics
These output styles are discussed in Acrobat Help.
    Be well...

  • How can i edit text on a pdf document on acrobat i professional

can anyone please help me, I've got acrobat 8 professional and i'm trying to edit text, can i do it and how can I do it?

You wrote: I have tried creating the background image as a pdf . . .
The whole thing is already a PDF.
What application are you using to try and make changes?
Are you now using InDesign to recreate the gift voucher?
Or are you opening the Photoshop PDF and trying to resize the live text layers?
There shouldn't be any issue with making 120 pt text. I just created a 250 pt text layer in PS as a test.
Have you enlarged the text box? If the text box isn't that big. making the text larger make cause it to overset and no longer be visible.
Grab the corner of the text box and drag it to enlarge it.
If things aren't working correctly, it would be faster to recreate the gift voucher in InDesign.
You mentioned having the background image, just add the text are you are ready to print.
After rereading your last post it is unclear who will be adding the text for the money amount.
Are you adding this yourself before printing, or are you hoping to give a PDF to the client where he can add/change the money amount?
Things like this need to be mentioned upfront.

  • How can I edit text in pdf?

newbie here to editing text in a pdf. I make a document in InDesign and exported it into a pdf. I tried to change the text in the pdf, using the touch up tool but it won't let me change it. What am I doing wrong?

That depends on what type of edits you want to do.
You can use the touchup text tool to make some changes to text (this assumes that the person on the other end has the exact same fonts installed). The touchup object tool can be used to remove images...Have them look under the "tools" menu to see what is available. Different ones are there depending on their version of Acrobat.
Why are you having them make edits (just asking to see if there is a better way of doing this because really, you don't want to go down this road)?
Do they really need to make edits or are they just marking up changes they want done in the document so you can do them? If that's the case, have them use the comment tools.
There are way too many things to go wrong when you start editing PDF's. They really should be considered simply a digital piece of paper and nothing more.

  • Can I edit text in a vector image?

My apologies if this is a stupid question!
I downloaded a vector image from Shutterstock that said "Your Text Here" implying you can edit the text. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the text. When I open the image in illustrator I can select the text but not edit it. Removing each piece of the letter distorts the background. Help!

Would depend on what the text is made of, but as Scott said it's most likely outlined and you are meant to use a completely new text object.

  • Can't edit text in a client's file... Wisdom appreciated!

A client has sent me a file (PDF) that contains various elements: typography that's editable, illustrations that are editable, and some typography that does not seem to be editable in Illustrator.
The apparently non-editable type shows up each character as an individual element, but not as outlines; the characters are in a bounding box but if I click View>outline, I don't see the character's outlines I just see an empty rectangle.
The file came from an artworker and I don't know if he's got a different version of illustrator to me or what...
Keen to sort this withough having to re-type out all of the detail...
    Any suggestions?!
    Thanks

Likely a different version. Since you don't see the outlines OR the editable text in "Outline" mode, that tells me the text is embedded as a graphic or Symbol. Look in the Symbol panel and see if there are characters there.
Can you "Jump into" an individual character by double-clicking?
What do you see listed in the Layer panel for each element?
