To grow a partition using fdisk(8), you will have to delete it and recreate it with a larger size. When recreating it, ensure you specify the same starting disk cylinder as before and a ending disk cylinder that is greater than the existing one. You can delete it from itunes and sync.
You can deselect it from the apps tab and sync.
You can hold an icon on the iphone until they all wiggle then tap the "X".
You cannot delete the standard app.

I am about to install Ops Center on a server . Based on the requirments , I know that
swap = 6GB
/var = 100 GB ( Local database )
other than this , what should be the best mount point sizes of /opt , /tmp etc ?
I have 4 Hard disks ,74 GB each. Around 250GB in total !

Reading this really makes me wonder what they are saying.

running the enterprise controller in an active boot environment on a Solaris 10 host?

i want resize the mount points ie., i want to decrease /tmp mount point size at the same time i want to increase /usr/local mount point size
Please tell me it is possible or not,if possible please tell me how to do it!The easiest way is to buy Partition Magic to do it.
If you're lucky enough to be running SuSE 10.x, go into Yast2 -> System -> Partitioner and that can do re-sizing too. Also, if you look around Freshmeat.NET, you'll find some other tools.
In each, you can't shrink below the high water mark; i.e. if even one lonely block is out at (say) the 20 GB mark, that is as small as you'll be able to shrink the partition, unless you delete the file that owns that data block.

Apologies for double-posting this, but I just realized this forum is more suited for this question.
I'm having a very strange problem in Lion running on a Mac Mini. I'm using Automount Maker to mount 8 different network shares at login and 2 of them are exhibiting weird behavior. All the shares except those 2 show up in the Finder. When I look in /Volumes using the Finder, the 2 mount points are not visible, but if I use Terminal to ls /Volumes, the mount points are visible in the list in Terminal. I can cd to those mount points and navigate the files, so the shares are definitely mounted, just invisible to the Finder. As a result, some scripts that run on the computer that reference /Volumes/sharename are failing.
I've tried changing the visibility of these mount points with "chflags hidden" but that didn't fix it.
I tested mounting the share without using Automount Maker (just the normal Apple+K method) and the share still mounts invisible. This time however, when the Finder pops open to show me the share after mounting it, the icon for the share in the Finder is dimmed. I've never seen this behavior before.You dont need timbuktu to control OSX server screen sharing is now built in.
The most secure way to do what you want it to use ssh tunneling. You dont need vpn. with ssh you could run screen sharing and apple filesharing through the ssh tunnel.
By default remote login is enabled in osx server. Being a server if configured correctly it will have a static ip address.
So configure your office networks router to forward tcp port 22 from the internet to the ip address of your server.
Then you need an account on the server, maybe you are already the admin account.
open your terminal the following commands will setup a tunnel for file sharing and screen sharing.
screen sharing tunnel
ssh user@server -L 5901:localhost:5900
replace server with the actual public IP address of your office internet connection. replace user with the actual account name on the server.
Once logged in open the screen sharing app and use a host name of localhost:5901
for file sharing use
ssh user@server -L 5548:localhost:548
once logged in
press command +K and in the server address use localhost:5548
that is it. -

My startup disk is mounting fine but not appearing on the desktop. It does appear in Finder windows and works OK.
I see that in Disk Utility the mount point is "/" where it should probably read: "/volumes/Macintosh HD"
How can I set the mount point to the correct directory?

Macintosh HD = 7.68GB free
Umax Powerlook 2100XL Scanner - SCSI. Only available when I restart with the scanner on of course. Currently off and not available.
Ethernet to a D-Link ADSL router, then to an Airport. Printer etc. is off the router.
80GB contains my working files, no system.
Standard Mac Keyboard and mouse, working fine for years.
Wacom tablet - working fine for years.
USB - I only use 2 devices, a Scandisk photo memory card reader, and a 500MB USB memory stick. I mounted and unmounted both and restarted. No change.
Nothing has changed, no recent system upgrade (or the MacHD disappeared well after I upgraded). Installed Poser Figure Artist a few months ago but to my recollection the Mac HD icon was still around after that. No new drives and this configuration has been stable (which I why I stick with it) for years. No other upgrades or updates (I LIKE to keep it stable!)
No freezes or crashes or hard restarts for months. Unrecoverable freezes are very rare, can't remember the last time.
Repair Permissions worked fine when I started from the Install CD. Minor problems mostly to do with flash - corrected.

I've downloaded and successfully started an Oracle Enterprise Linux guest (from the template downloaded from Oracle)
I want to add more disk space to the guest now. I'm learning about System Admin but most of my background is DBA so I need some help here.

After I start up the Oracle Ent. Linux 5 guest, the same df -k command on the VM Server shows:

I'm curious about the /var/ovs/mount/164D6102E20C42A9BC7492CCAFE882EF mount point. What is that? Can I use some of the mounted space for my guest OS?
If I log into the OEL guest, df -k shows:

So basically what I want to do is to add say three mount points to the guest /u01 /u02 and /u02 at 20Gig each. I'm assuming this disk space comes from the VM server's /var/ovs/mount/164D6102E20C42A9BC7492CCAFE882EF mount but I'm not sure how to do this. Any pointers of instructions are greatly appreciated.

John SRead up on the documentation, specifically http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15458_01/doc.22/e15444/repository.htm#BGBFCDGJ explains it a little better. Basically thats your storage repository,. this is where VM images, ISO's templates and whatnot is stored and it has no correlation what drives you see within the guest VM.

How do I increase the point size in the dialog boxes and especially on the list of messages on email? I can increase the point size and font of actual messages content but not the LIST of emails in my inbox. They are too small for me to read.

You could use a different mail app. Consider thunderbird.

one of our mount point(/u03/oracle/prod) was using high I/O and this was causing slowness in the server.

When I add a new bookmark, and the (star) Page Bookmarked window appears - is there any way to expand the size of that window so that I can see my entire list of folders when adding a new bookmark to an existing folder? The endless scrolling technique is far too tedious when trying to add a new bookmark, because the window is simply too tiny. Is there maybe a plug-in that will let me grab the corner of that window and re-size it? Thanks!
I suggest you install the "Add Bookmark to Here2" extension, then you can expand the the list but you will not see the bookmark itself in the list if that is what you wanted. At the top you have three major folders you can select one of them and scroll up and down. Below that you have your most recently used folders and you can select one of them instead and scroll up and down. You can see the folder the bookmark is in -- they get added to the bottom
If you really want to see the bookmark within the folder the same extension allows you to bring the bookmark to the folder from say the bookmarks sidebar that is why it is named as such. I use it but mainly i use the dialog.

If you are not using tags at all, you can remove a whole lot of confusion by removing them from the dialog via the extension.
