Can we get older copies of iMovie to DOWNGRADE to?

I need a version that actually WORKS. I upgraded the imac to 10.8...and imovie to '11, what a mistake.

Happily this is easily achieved, but it has to be done backwards.
Delete iMovie 11 (just drag it to the trash). Now install iMovie 6 from the iLife 6 install disks.
Now re-install iMovie 11. This automatically moves iMovie 6 into a folder it creates in your Applications folder called iMovie Previous Version.
Then reinstall iMovie 11.
Now you have them both, and you can have both in the Dock as well.
Alternatively you could try this method, suggested by poster Uitech:
Open a terminal and type "touch /Library/Preferences/com.apple.iLife08.plist"
(No quotes)
Install iMovieHD6 from the iLife 6 install disk.
This works with both Leopard and Snow Leopard Macs.

If the installation disc like K T mentioned doesn't work out for you (I don't know if it has the latest version before Snow Leopard or not), you can always download it. The newest version is version 3.2, but that's for Snow Lep only, and since you said you wanted the newest one that's NOT Snow Lep, you want version 3.1.4 -- you can download this, and here's how:
You have to be an ADC (Apple Developer Connection) member, which is easy enough to sign up for if you aren't already. Once you are a member, go to the ADC Member Site at https://connect.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MemberSite.woa/107/wo/Zg5sEaw3TWXV2 CgY7RvsddKd549/0.0 or if that link doesn't work for you then just google ADC Member Site and it should be the first listing. Once you get to the member site, you have to log in on the right side, then click on the Downloads link (there should be four main links in front of you (ADC Products, Activations, Downloads, and My Account) -- Downloads is the one on the bottom left if you're on the right page). Once you go into the Downloads page, it's the third one down (called Xcode 3.1.4 Developer Tools). Just download the disk image from there.

I tried several Apps - but all requested a newer iOS version. where can I get older Apps ?

Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was releases, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

I moved the project files and now I can't get them back into iMovie 11

I was working on a project but I ran out of disk space before I could finish it. Now, for this very purpose, I have an external hard drive with plenty of space on it. So I tried moving the folder with all my project files onto the external hd, and now iMovie can't find my project anymore. With iMovie '06 it was as simple as hitting "save as" and saving the project to the external hd, but I guess that's not complicated enough for the new version. Now I can't get into my project. I even try clicking on the actual project file, and it goes to iMovie as if the project was about to open, but nothing happens. So I fear I wasted a lot of time working on that project only to have to start all over because I ran out of disk space.
Someone please tell me there's a way to get the project files open again. Thanks

that is a simple one and should be a routine after purchasing a new drive (in a Mac-only environment!):
• on your Mac, Apps/Utilities you'll find Disk 'Utility'
• on the left lane, you'll notice your connected hard drive(s)
• select it, click on the 'erase' tab
• NOTE: FORMATTING A DRIVE MEANS ERASING ALL CONTENT ON THAT DRIVE!

Can't get older mac to connect to wireless router

I have an older G4 mac, which had an Airport wireless snow type of router. I've currently upgrade to an iMac with an Airport Extreme router. I can't get the old G4 to 'see' the Airport Extreme Network, so I can use the other computer to check email and get on the internet. Do I have to load in the same Airport software on both machines? Any help will be appreciated.

Yes. Let's take a step back. You can use any computer to configure your new Airport Extreme, but first be sure you have installed the Airport Utility program from the link I posted above. The earlier version of Airport Utility you used for your Snow Airport doesn't have the necessary features to configure your new Airport Extreme.
The only reason to keep the old Airport Utility program would be to configure your old Snow Airport Base Station, which you're not using any more. So put it aside.
Since you're having trouble getting your G4 to connect at all, it makes sense to use your new iMac to configure your new AirPort Extreme. So let's use it for now.
The ability to use the dual band feature of the new Extreme is described starting on page 20 of the following: Apple Airport Networks (early 2009). The document is very lengthy but don't let that bother you - Apple's Airport base stations are extremely versatile and the manual gets very detailed, but most of it won't concern you.

I have a subscription for Captivate 7 but also need Captivate 6. How can I get older versions?

I have an opportunity to do some work for a company that is using Captivate 6 but I'm using Captivate 7. As we all know, the software isn't backwards compatible, so all my CP7 project files do not work as expected when opened by a CP6 user. How can I get Captivate 6, too? I can run one version on my MAC and the other on my PC, so that shouldn't be a problem.

That's also a big complaint people have when they use iMovie. It doesn't use the source file name in any obvious way. The only thing you might be able to do in the Event Folder is try to hold down the CTRL-key click on the clip and choose Reveal in Finder to decipher the original name of the clip. Like this:

I can't get clips from one imovie 4 project to another.

Why can't I have two imovie project open at once? I have an imovie that I want to copy some clips from and when I open another imovie, the original close so I can't drag them in. I also cannot copy a clip and then paste it into another imovie.
According to the imovie help I should be able to have up to 10 imovie projects open at one time. I cannot get two.

That is the expected behaviour for iMovie 4. In iMovie 6 you can do what you want. (I don't remember if you can do it in iMovie 5.)

Bought visual hub, still can't get my movies into imovie

Hi I posted in a different post about problems getting movies I made on my sony cybershot into imovie to edit. I was told if I bought visual hub that I could convert into another format that would be accepted in imovie. I've bought visual hub and tried several of the different formats that I was told should be accepted by imovie, but none of this is working. I can't figure out what is wrong here.

I'll be more blunt than Winston, did you try DV (in PAL or NTSC with anamorphic flag to match content)? This is "the Standard" for editing.

the current Core Center does not work, and i'd like to download the 1.9v BIOS. i think there was/is an alternate download site for all versions of the Neo2 board apps and drivers. but i have forgotten where i can find it.

Where can i get a version of iMovie to run on OS 10.9.5?

I have a MacBook Air with 10.9.5 & want to install iMovie, but the App store only has a version that runs on OS 10.10. I don't want to update to 10.10 because it uses too much ram. Does anyone have an idea on how I can get iMovie for 10.9.5, PLEASE (very nicely with a smiley face)

Yosemite actually uses even less RAM than Mavericks as it is better managed by the software.
The only other purchase option is the iLife '11 DVD from a reseller.

Where can I get older versions of ITunes?

I have a little sharware program called Awaken that turns on Itunes in the morning to wake me up. I have really enjoyed it. However since I have upgraded Itunes to 6.0.2 I get a crash with either a kern-protection failure or kern invalid address message. I've fixed permissions, run Norton, wasted time for a few days trying to figure it out. I have written others but no one has answered me.
After reading negative comments on Itunes 6.0.2 I thought maybe that might be the problem.

There can be many reasons why a Kernel Panic occurs. It can be a coincidence that it happened after upgrading iTunes.
To find earlier versions of iTunes, do a Google search for iTunes601.dmg or something similar.

i have 2nd gen ipod. i updated all my apps. now over half my apps cat be synced to my ipod. can i undo the app update or redownload a prev version?

When iTunes upgrades apps the old ones are sent to the trash, so if you lost your old version recently (or you don't empty your trash bin often) it should be sitting in the trash clearly labeled with the app name and version. Once you find the version you want you can move it to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder (this is the path /Users/[your acct here]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Automatically Add to iTunes but its easier to just search for the folder in any finder window...) and iTunes will revert to to older version.
I then sync'd my ipod touch and turned off the sync apps afterward, so I dont unnecessarily lose my compatible versions.
