Can we get release notes on the new K1 system update?

When I bought my Ideapad it came with stock Honeycomb which I was more than happy with. Then Lenovo pushed a system update that erased all my apps and installed and ugly, intrusive overlay ontop of my beautiful Honeycomb OS. Now they want to force another update on me. I'm not installing until I hear what it does and probably not installing unless it provides an option to return to stock Honecomb. Can we get official release notes from Lenovo or some users to share their experiences with the latest update please?

JameZ asked the Dev Team already, and they said no.
But I'm with you, all other releases or updates have release notes or a change log.
I don't see why someone couldn't add what was changed, fixed, added or removed.

I'm trying to use an iphone 3 with t-mobile plan, itune say the phone is unlocked however i can't get a signal with the new sims card

How is iTunes telling you it is unlocked? Did you go through an unlock procedure with your cell company and then Restore it in iTunes?

  • ITunes Media And Removable Storage Issue - Can't Get iTunes to recognize the new location.  Any tips?

I've had my iTunes media on an external HDD for years.  Let's call this drive B.
My iTunes library and xml file reside on my Mac HDD.
I decided that I wanted to buy a bigger HDD and move all of the media to it.  Last night I copied all of the media files to the new HDD (let's call it P) from B.  I also copied the iTunes folder from my Mac HDD to P and directed iTunes to look for the media in the Advanced settings.
Of course when I launched iTunes after all the hours it took to do all of this copying, it could not find any of the media on P without asking whether I wanted to locate it - and the library was full of explanation points.  When I examined the info on a few songs, it was showing that all of the media was still pointing to B as the location with the complete directory structure pointing to that old location - and not to the new drive.
I tried creating a new library and still could not get the library to recognize that all of the media was now on P instead of B.
I remember when I did something similar years ago, I just changed the location in iTunes in the Advanced settings and iTunes realized that all of the music was on B instead of its prior location.
I finally gave up and restored things back to the original settings with all the media on B.
I did a lot of searches and followed everything explicitly -- which basically meant copying the iTunes folder (with the library and xml files within it), and the media to the new drive and then telling iTunes where the new location was.  To me it shouldn't be any simpler than that to get iTunes to recognize a new location for all the music.
Can anyone offer a more rudimentary breakdown of things for me to try so that I can get iTunes to acknowledge that all the media is on P and not B?
P is larger than B  for those of you who are wondering why I'm trying to get this to work. And P also will be a drive that dedicated to iTunes and media and nothing else.  Unlike B, which has all kinds of assorted files on it along with my music, etc.
And yes, each time I made changes  - I restarted iTunes

Thank you both for the information.
It sounds like I did something out of sequence based upon reading the split library information, thinking I was doing the right thing.
This is exactly what I did
I copied the folder with all the media from B to P
I copied the entire iTunes folder from the Mac HDD to P
I option click started iTunes and connected to the library file and when iTunes opened it was OK - and looked like it normally does when I was still using B as the storage
    I connected to P
When it didn't work, I tried to create a new library and did the same exact things.
    So let me ask this:
Should I hook up P again and delete everything off of it except for the folders that have the media in them and then copy the current iTunes folder over onto P again - and then copy all of the media from it's current location into the iTunes Media folder inside of the iTunes folder I copy over from the Mac and then try to connect and consolidate everything?
I assume that if I move everything from the current media folder into the iTunes/iTunes Media/ that I copy over everything will be under the iTunes umbrella as if things were never split?
I don't seem to recall it being this difficult when I originally set up things on B, as it was a split situation then too, if I'm not mistaken.
I really appreciate the instruction.  And honestly it does make sense to have everything in one location to prevent problems like this from happening  - it would just be great if iTunes had a feature that moved and/or copied the necessary files to the new location to prevent splitting links

  • Hard drive "does not meet the requirements" for system updates

    Hi,
I'm running 10.2 and I'm trying to update my computer to the more recent version, except that I've gone through the update downloads on this site and anything higher than 10.3 tell me I need to run 10.3 to run it. When I tried to upgrade to 10.3, I was told that I "cannot install this software on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update". What does that mean and how do I rectify the problem? Thank you very much in advance.
    - Jen

Hi Kappy! I have a similar problem: I had a problem in the past and had to re-install the system. I now have a previous sytem folder on my mac which I do not dare touch. I used to have a later version than 10.3.3 (I cannot remember which). I am now trying to update with the 10.3.9 combo update (just bought a new ipod) and I get the famous "does not meet the requirements" message. I have repaired permissions and done Onyx maintenance - still nothing. I wonder whether somehow the installer detects that there is already some newer component installed and does not want to re-install. I am awfully frustrated... Thanks in advance for your help.

  • I recently changed my password and firefox 5.0 is not remembering it. how can i get it to remeber the new password and not the old one?

I had set firefox to remember my old password. at the point of changing to the new password, I was prompted whether to store the new password, which I did, however when I log in, it still remembers the number of characters in the old password.

Did you check the password in the Password Manager ?

  • Old computer is broke, how can I get my songs onto the new computer?

My other computer with Itunes and all my songs was dropped and broke. We were unable to recover any of the songs. I have all the songs on my ipod though. So I downloaded Itunes onto this new computer, and now I am trying to add my recently downloaded songs to the ipod, and it keeps telling me that I need to erase the library and replace it with the new library. I don't want to lose all the songs I have now! What can I do? Is there any way to put all the songs from my ipod into Itunes just by using the ipod??

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I have had to change my email address/Apple ID. my iPad recognisIes the change of id but on my MacBook Air, iCloud just keeps asking me for a password for the old email address/account. How can I get iCloud to recognise the new details? Help please!

I have had to change my email address/Apple ID. My iPad recognises the new detail in iTunes and iCloud but when I go into iCloud through my MacBook Air, it requests a password for the old email account which I can no longer use. There is no Option to be able to change this email/ID detail as I cannot get further than the password request. Can anyone help please - this is driving me insane?!

Go to System Preferences and click Sign Out, select Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the changed ID?   (Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out and choose Delete, but will still be in iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

  • How can I get songs not on the cloud onto my devices?

I signed up for iTunes Match a little while ago.  While the majority of my library can be found and made available on my devices, there are files (recordings I've made, mostly) that iTunes Match obviously doesn't recognize.  But I really need some of these files on my iPhone.  Is there a way that I can still use iTunes Match and be able to manually download these other songs that Match can't find?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
The tracks are ineligible for iTunes Match in view of their bit rate. You would need to convert them to a higher bit rate, minimum of 96kbps.
You can convert within iTunes. Change the import settings in preferences. Select tracks and ctrl click and pop up will let you convert file. This will create a new copy, so you may wish to delete original. If the tracks match, you may wish to upgrade file to 256 kpbs AAC by deleting track and downloading matched version.
Ps add iCloud status to your song view - this will tell what has been matched or uploaded.

  • My iTunes does not see the new ios 5 update on my ipod touch 3rd generation

hello i tried to seach for an update for ios 5 or 4.3 but my iTunes cant find it. It just sayes ur current version is 4.2.1

You just think you have a 3rd gen..
What some people don't know is that when Apple released Model MC086LL it was sold as a 8GB 3rd generation unit by some retailers. It really had the same guts as the 2nd generation model MB528LL with upgraded software. ALL 8GB "3rd generation" iPod Touch serial numbers pull up in the apple support system as a 2nd generation unit. 2nd generation units are not able to upgrade to ios5, therefore your last update will be 4.21.

  • Can I get Microsoft Word on the new MacBook

I solved my problems of always working on her computer by buying my sweet wife a G5 and trashing her Dell. She is going to take a course at a college many miles from our home. I could not wean her from Word, but she is now a Mac Mail and Safari user. I purchased a version of Word when I purchased her G5. I would like to get her a MacBook but, I don't see the option at the Apple Store to buy one with Microsoft Word. Can anyone help me with a purchase of a MacBook with Word on it. Thanks, Steve

"Can anyone help me with a purchase of a MacBook with Word on it. "
No. Apple will not preinstall it. You must purchase Office/Word separately: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products/word2004/word2004.aspx?pid=howtobuy
