Can we give an external input to 5610 upconverter

Hi,
This is just to clarify a
technical doubt concerning with NI RFSG..
We have purchased two PXI 1033 chassis(one with
5610 upconverter and the other with 5600 down converter) for our project...Now
we are trying to test the transmiter system only..We have
successfully installed the transmitter system consisting of the chassis with
5610.The OS has successfully detected the system.Next comes programming of 5610
to get an RF output of desired RF frequency and power level. For this we
connected an external IF frequency source from a signal generator(IFR
2050T)because we don't have AWG in the chassis. We have completed
setup, configuration and self-testing of 5610 in MAX and the RF output from 5610
was monitored using spectrum analyser (HP MS710A).Unfortunately we are not able
to program 5610. The VI was similar to fig 19 of "Getting Started Guide NI RF
SIGNAL GENERATORS".When the VI is run, the following error comes"session could
not be opened because the AWG resource name was not specified.Specify the AWG
resource name in the MAX or in the option string".
Please clarify whether we can program 5610 with an
external IF signal independent of AWG(because our system doesn't contain
AWG)
Looking forward for your immediate reply.

you.

Hi ,
This is Faris Alhorr from national Instruments. Before answering your question, let me clarify this. I believe that you sent an email yesterday and for some reason whenever I try to reply to  it keeps on bouncing back. ( it could be that you supplied the wrong email address).
To answer your question, you can use the 5610 in upconverter mode only. There's an example in LV that shows you how to do that.
You can find the example in LV under Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> Modular Instruments >> NI-RFSG >> Utilities.
Also make sure that you are setting the AWG in MAX to external. You can do so by right clicking on the 5610 in MAX.
I'm glad that you posted here, and please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best Regards,
Faris Alhorr

  • Can not select external input for sound

can not select external input for sound

    Hey there RoosterMonkey,
It sounds like you have Soundtrack Pro installed but you cannot select your external audio device as an input. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
    Soundtrack Pro 3: Troubleshooting Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3659
Update to the latest software versions
From the Apple () menu, choose Software Update and make sure that you have the most recent updates for your versions of Soundtrack Pro 3, QuickTime, Compressor, Pro Application Support, and other important system files. Installing the latest updates ensures that your software has the latest improvements and enhancements.
Note: Be sure the application is in the Applications folder and is named Soundtrack Pro before running Software Update.
Check compatibility and driver versions for third-party devices
If you're using a third-party sound card, MIDI interface, storage system, control surface, or plug-in, check the support area on the manufacturer's website to be sure that you're using the latest version of the relevant driver or other software for your product. For information on troubleshooting possible issues with Audio Unit plug-ins, go to Soundtrack Pro 3: Troubleshooting Audio Unit plug-in issues.
Try a different Multitrack Project or Audio File Project
Sometimes project files can become damaged, causing unexpected behavior in Soundtrack Pro. To create a fresh project, choose File, then New and select Multitrack Project or Audio File. Test to see if the issue is resolved in the new project.
    Delete the User Preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Soundtrack Pro to its original settings. This will not impact your project files. To reset your Soundtrack Pro user preference settings to their original state:
Quit Soundtrack Pro if it is open.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar.
Type ~/Library/Preferences  in the "Go to the folder" field.
Remove the "com.apple.soundtrackpro.plist" file from the Preferences folder.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Application Support/Soundtrack Pro  in the "Go to the folder" field.
Remove the "EffectsCache.plist" file from the Soundtrack Pro folder.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Application Support/Soundtrack Pro/Layouts  in the "Go to folder" field.
Remove the "Soundtrack Pro.saved.moduleLayout" file from the Layouts folder.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Caches in the "Go to folder" field.
Remove the "com.apple.audiounits.cache" from the Caches folder.
Remove receipts and reinstall Soundtrack Pro 3 and Compressor
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Soundtrack Pro and Compressor. To do this effectively, you need to remove the applications and their receipts, then install Soundtrack Pro and use Software Update to install additional updates. Compressor gets installed automatically when you install Soundtrack Pro. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Soundtrack Pro, so follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Soundtrack Pro. Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs handy before beginning.
In Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard or OS X Lion
Open the Terminal application and enter the following commands one at a time and an administrator password when prompted. Note: The commands are case sensitive.
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.Compressor
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.Qmaster
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.VideoOutSupport
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.PSTSharedA
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.AppleHDVCodec
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.AppleIntermediateCodec
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.DSPPublishing
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.SoundtrackPro
    sudo pkgutil --forget com.apple.pkg.Uncompressed422
Then, reinstall Soundtrack Pro and Compressor using the following steps:
Open the Applications folder. Drag the Soundtrack Pro and Compressor applications to the Trash.
Insert your Logic Studio or Final Cut Studio installation disc and install Soundtrack Pro.
When finished installing, choose the Apple () menu, then Software Update to update your software to the latest version.
Open Soundtrack Pro to verify that the issue has been resolved.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • How can i make my external hard drive be the scratch disk with 1 FW input?!

Hello! I use firewire with my external HD AND my camera...however i only have one firewire input...i set my scratch disk for final cut to work with my external HD but when i am importing footage to my computer with my camcorder, i can not have my external HD plugged in, thus the scratch disk has to be set to something else to continue working. So how can i work around this problem?! Should i just change the settings back after i import the footage and it all goes to place?

I don't understand the need to daisy chain. I have one Firewire port on my MacBook Pro, and I use a Firewire hub. I've been connecting two 1TB Western Digital My Book Studio Edition hard drives (one for FCE and iMovie projects; one for the media files I create via export), and a Canon NTSC ZR200 miniDV tape camcorder, or a Sony Digital8 tape camcorder, or sometimes a Canopus ADVC 110, without issues. Why not use a Firewire hub? . . . except to save the small expense.

  • Can anyone give step-by-step instructions for moving my iPhoto library to my external hard drive to free up space on my internal hard drive?

I want to move my iPhoto from my internal hard drive to an external hard drive to free up space. Can it be moved entirely and function the same as before with all features and the software itself on the hard drive?  Also, can anyone give step by step instructions on how to do this?  I'm having a difficult time figuring this out on my own by trying to search through Apple support.

  • How to pass external input to user-defined subclasses

Can anybody please suggest me the correct way of passing this external
    input?
    Thanks
    lor

Thanks for this detail. Before getting into JTable
etc...design suggestions, it would be helpful to know
how the interaction between Java and MATLAB is
supposed to proceed. OK: I'm developing a MATLAB GUI with an embedded JTable inside it: people write things in a user defined JTable (well, customized subclass of JTable).
I would like to define this subclass not as MyJTable(int rows, int cols) but as MyJTable(int rows, int cols, int externalinput), but doing this gives me the aformentioned error.
Simplest setting: MATLAB writes data to a file, and
knowing the format of that file you are able to parse
it in Java. I'm not using any kind of input or output file: simply, MATLAB calls a JTable subclass (i.e. I only have a .class file to work on).
Problem arises when I would like to add some more input: I cannot say simply setValueAt(int externalinput) if the JTable can't get this input directly from MATLAB...
I hope I did make myself a little bit more clear: solution must be trivial, but I'm spending a lot of time in it...
Thank you very much for your interest.

  • I'm using the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac so I can record a meeting as well as take notes. The audio of the internal microphone is so low - can I attach an external mic and have it work with note taking view?

Can I attach an external mic to my Macbook Air to enhance sound input for the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac? I've tried preferences to up the volume of my sound, but I still cannot hear the recording. Any suggestions? I need to record a meeting as well as take notes so I'd like to use this tool, but the audio is not good enough.

A USB microphone can work with the Air, and I've used them before with my 11" Air.  Griffin also made a product (the iMic) that will add a standard computer microphone port, connecting to your USB port.  It's heyday was the time of the old iBook laptops (which also lacked a microphone in jack) but I think it's still around.
The single sound port on the 2011 models, as I recall, supports iPhone style headphone/microphone but I don't believe it will support a standard microphone input.
The built in microphone sits on the left side of the computer and I suspect wouldn't work well for picking up a lecture unless you were sitting just right in position vs. the speaker (preferably having the speaker positioned to the left and sitting really close).  By design most laptop microphones presume they are going to be mainly used to record a sound coming from the person sitting at the keyboard, while for a lecture you normally would prefer it concentrate on sound coming from behind the screen.

  • Can i add an external power button to my mac?

I've got a Mac Pro early 2008 2.8ghz 8 core, I'm going to be putting my mac in another room, how can I add an external power on button?
Are there USB options? Or are there inputs inside the mac that I can connect too?
    Many Thanks
    Matt

Yes I was going to Hide it under the stairs, and then have the basics on my desk in the attempt to cut down amount of cables.
I realise I can use sleep mode, but I want to avoid it being in standby to save on the electricity bill.
At the moment I don't have it all set up, but I think I may have just remember, but I have the 30" cinema display, I know its got a Power Button, can this be reprogrammed to Power the machine on and Off? I remember the option for sleep.
If anyone has it to check i'll be grateful.
    Many thanks

  • External Input is no longer detected in my System Sound Preferences?

When I go to System Preferences>Sound> on my Powerbook, I no longer have the option to switch to an external input or external microphone.  It only lists the Internal Microphone. Why has the external option disappeared?

If you used system cache cleaning software it can mess up Apple software.  Stop using such software.  Remove Mackeeper if present using these directions:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691
If you started typing something in the search field of the System Preferences, it might be hiding.   Quit and reopen System Preferences to be sure it isn't hiding because it is searching for another panel.
Lastly, if none of the above apply, go to your hard drive -> System -> Library -> PreferencesPanes folder and see if it is hiding there.  If it isn't, get your 10.5 installer disc that installed 10.5 on your Mac, and restore it with http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist, and then run the 10.5.8 combo update to ensure the version matches the operating system.

  • Can I partition an external hard drive to run windows games on my Macbook Pro

I want to play windows games on steam but I am not sure if I want to partition my Macbooks hard drive. I heard you could partition external hard drives but didn't know if you could run games on that external hard drive. I have a lot of files on my computer and don't want to take time to move my files to the external hard drive, so can I buy the external hard drive and then partition it to run window games or do I have to partition my actual default hard drive?

Hi! If your macbook doesn't have a cd drive you need to have Windows 7 but an ISO image, you can't just copy the contents of the copy into a USB and expect it to work. There are many tutorials on internet on how to obtain an ISO image from an installation disc, for example: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/software-tools/a/create-iso-image-file.htm As for "just download Windows 7" (i suppose you mean free download) this is not the right place to ask, believe me. Try searching Windows 7 ISO on google, but be careful with what you download and form where, also you are going to download the Windows drivers from the Bootcamp program, try reading this manual to give yourself a better idea: http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1636/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_ 10.8.pdf

  • Can I use  an external hard drive instead of replacing a defective one?

I'm almost certain I need another hard drive; the current one has been installed less than a year. I'm experiencing regular kernel panics; i've done a clean reinstall.
Can I use an external HD as my main drive? Other than the kernel issues, everything else works fine
    Message was edited by: joell109

Has using information on 'resolving kernel panics' helped to
    define or troubleshoot the list of potential causes of these;
or has the process been partly a guess?
resolving kernel panics - troubleshooting the issue:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/kernelpanics.html
Poor or under-qualification RAM, failed or unable to work
in a later system than a computer was first shipped with,
can lead to kernel panic issues. So can a combination of
software that is incompatible. And if there is a problem in
how the computer reads and writes data to and from the
hard disk drive, it may be putting corrupted data on the HD.
{And the logic board or hardware data flow controller (ATA)
    may be defective in such a way as to cause kernel panics..}
An over-full hard disk drive could be damaging the content
of the drive in such a manner (due to over-writing content
and the system being cannibalized) as to cause failures.
What brand of hard disk drive have you installed into there?
An external hard disk drive within a FireWire enclosure, one
that is self-powered so it is on before the computer (and you
have to consider carefully how you detach or attach it to the
Mac, since these have to be unmounted a certain way, etc)
and perhaps large enough in capacity to have it partitioned
so as to give you a backup location for items or utilities that
can run from the computer to help you maintain it, etc.
The externally enclosed FireWire hard disk drive, with AC
power adapter, and cables, should be able to boot the Mac.
Not all can do that... ones with a chipset similar to those
known as 'oxford chipsets' can do this. That is the first test
to do when you get a FW external HD drive, is to see if it
can do this primary task with a boot volume installed.
You can make nice clones, too, if you have a healthy FW
externally enclosed HDD, a bootable one, & self-powered.
Mine are full-computer clones; not just the OS, and not
just the file changes such as a simple backup may provide.
Carbon Copy Cloner by Bombich is a good tool to have.
    And there are others.
If your computer is essentially eating hard disk drives and
there are kernel panics within a relatively short period of
operational time, there may be something else involved.
A vintage Disk Warrior may be helpful, if you can find one
that will work with the current OS on the computer and
also on the hardware you have, to look into the HDD.
And the original Mac OS software set included with that
computer shipped with an Apple Hardware Test... also,
system logs should indicate the chain of failure; but those
are often cryptic and few people grasp their messages.
    Good luck & happy computing!
