Can we have Multi BI Scheduler in single obiee server

Hi,
Is it possible to have multiple OBIEE schdeuler in single obiee server in 10g. we are currently using multi RPD and webcatalog in single server, is it possible get scheduler running the same way. If yes please help

I don’t think this can be done since the Scheduler changes are override(OracleBIData\scheduler\config\instanceconfig.xml)
by each other based on the rpd job manager config changes.
If we have separate DSN for RPD or Virtual dir as Analtyics this may be possible.
More over the below tag from OracleBIData\web\config\instanceconfig.xml points same host
<ScheduleServer>localhost</ScheduleServer>

I'm studying the feasibility for below situation (sorry i'm new in RAC)
I'm not sure whether it can setup in HP-UX-11.23 Itanium box or not (Not OpenVMS)
We have two node e.g. node1 and node2 in RAC environment.
In node1, we plan to create one instance for each customer (Let say 10 customer, we will create 10 instances on same server).
For each instances (ORACLE_HOME), can we have their own ASM software (ASM instance) and CRS software (CRS HOME) instead of create one and share with all instances.
We're looking for multi-home concept, so that if one of our customer want to upgrade/patches oracle, it will NOT affect other customer.
Any idea, or any website can share with me?

Let say, we have 10 instances in one box, each database will have their RDBMS homes, if we can not have multiple ASM instances or CRS home.
Whenever we want to apply patches on one of the instances, definitely other instances will be affected.
Just want to know what is the best deploy/best practice to apply patches in such environment?I think the first 'best' practice is to not have multiple instances on a single server. But if you have to do it, I'd say virtualisation might help you so that each instance lives in it's own virtual machine with it's own operating system. That way, you can also patch the OS and reboot it and only affect a single database instance. The only problem with RAC might be that not all virtualization platforms are supported with RAC

I can't seem to find a way to get my UIButtons to have multi-line titles. I've tried setting their UILineBreakMode properties, but all that does is affect what gets displayed on the button's first line and doesn't make a (much-desired) second line. Any ideas?

Can we have a seperate startup script (startManagedWebLogic.sh) to start each
Managed Server? for example startManagedWebLogic.sh for ms1 and startManagedWebLogic.sh
in ms2 in another directory?

startManagedWebLogic.sh internally calls startWebLogic.sh with few added parameters, that's all it does. You are free to modify the startup script, the way you want.

If your using Cognos version like MDX/XMLA then it should be possible. (on older cognos version you migth have to "reroute" trought an SSAS service.

You can't connect directly to the Cognos cube, you have to go trough the Cognos Reporting server:
OBIEE -> Cognos Reporting Server - > Cognos Cube
or
OBIEE -> MS - SSAS server - > Cognos Reporting Server -> Cognos Cube
But if you are already on Cognos why do you want to transfer data to OBIEE? Cognos is NOT an ETL tool. A Cognos Cube File is only a data file for a Cognos Reporting server.

Can I have multiple images on a single USB drive?

I would like to save an image from my T400 (XP), then upgrade the hard drive to an SSD, then upgrade the OS to Windows 7 (or 8), and take another image.
I have several questions that I hope someone can help me with...
Can I use Rescue and Recovery to save multiple images to a single USB drive?
If so, how does the sw keep the files separate?
Will it still work if I use two different Rescue and Recovery versions (4.3 for XP, and 4.5 for W7)?
Is there a way to store the images in separate folders on the USB drive, or is that unnecessary?
Is there a better way to do this (including using different sw)?

If you open Disk Management, you'll see Disk 0 with more than one partition. If you want to rebuild a HD back the same you'll want all or at least two of the partitions. You'll notice the Active Boot partition is not C the Windows drive but a partition called System_Drv (at least in my system). Those two will be mandatory when you image a new drive. Otherwide you'll have some fixing with external tools to get it booting.

Can I have multiple files on a single time capsule?

On a time capsule, can partition different backups for different files, i.e. different computers.

As Neil says, you can easily back up multiple Macs to the same Time Capsule, as long as it's large enough (see #1 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum). Each Mac's backups will be in a separate sparse bundle.
If, as in your other post, any of those other computers are PCs, or even Macs using some other backup app, it gets complicated and messy, because of the way Time Machine backups will use all the space available, and the fact that, as Neil says, you cannot partition the internal HD.
Your best bet in that case would be to attach a USB hard drive to the Time Capsule; you can partition it if necessary. Back-up one or more Macs to the TC's internal HD or USB drive; and the PC(s) to one or more separate partitions on the USB drive.

As noted in #Q3 there, there is a rather cumbersome way to reserve space on the TC's internal HD for things like the PC backups by putting a +disk image+ on it, but connecting a USB drive will be much easier.

Hi Pradip,
Go to the report location. You will find options open, Edit, schedule etc based on previliges. Click on schedule.
then you will find options, General, Output, schedule Notification. Under Scgedule tab you can change the scheduled time of the report.

Can we have Slider at dashboard level? - OBIEE 11g

We are working on OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3.0), we have one requirement where we want to have dashboard level slider i.e. slider controlling all the graphs on dashboards.
Currently we have around 9 charts in dashboard and all of them have their individual slider (section) for customer. We wan to put this slider at dashboard level. Is there any way we can do it in OBIEE 11g? or any workarounds?

Sliders are only enabled in charts.But not for whole dashboard its not possible.

Can I have 2 different EP instances in same server.

I have Enterise portal installed on server. It uses UME engine of SCM4.0 server.
Client weants to install EP for different SCM5.1 system along with the old one. I am new to EP and moreoevr have no idea if tha is feasible. They say they will publish 2 links on internet.... 1 with having link to SCM4.0 and other with SCM5.1.
Can you please provide me the guideline or some material abt same.? Is it possible and what are the risk factors. coz I have no ep development for R&D and we can't risk stopping our current EP working fine with SCM4.0

Hi Ranjan,
Considering your server sizing the performance will take a hit. But Still you can install 2 instance of EP in this server. All you need to take care is
1. Your SID of the instances should be different. Eg.,EPD & EPP
2. Your http port should be different. Eg., 50000 & 50200
For productive use it is recommended to have atleast 2GB for one instance exclusively. In your case you have only 4GB out of which your OS & DB will consume more than a GB. So consider increasing the RAM size.
HDD free space 10 GB should be enough.

I am looking to configure Local Alert Configuration with XI Server,
It already had CCMS Alert Configurations in place, But the solution Manager
is forwarding alerts related to all the Servers (ECC,CRM,BW,XI). It is becoming
difficult to track the alerts of XI.
So my question is is it possible to have 2 alert configurations with XI l ocal & Certral (CCMS)?.
What are the effects if we have both.
I think it is possible to maintain xi specific alerts to specific mail ID's . But basis is finiding difficult in doing this.
Let me know suggestions if you have any in this case.

Yes you can have your own PI specific alerts.
You do this via ALRTCATDEF (as stated earlier)
You can edit the message header so you know if it's PI generated or if you log in as PISUPER to configure this then the sender will be PISUPER
Alternatively, why dont you ask BASIS to turn off monitoring for XI and allow you do a more fine-tuned version of this monitoring.
Or even better, dont create any local alerts but have BASIS finetune the central alerts so that the affected system is included in the subject header, also have them create roles for these systems and ensure messages are only sent to the impacted role. Blindly sending messages for all system to all system owners is really lazy config.

I have two load-balanced WFE servers hosting SharePoint 2013. I would like to have two domains rendering different websites on this. For e.g., I would like to have http://abc.com and http://xyz.com on the same server/farm. Is it possible?

No that won't be an issue.
As far as SharePoint is concerned each web application is capable of functioning a more or less independent system.
This process describes the process
