Can we have multi-Home CRS/ASM on same server?

Hi All,
I'm studying the feasibility for below situation (sorry i'm new in RAC)
I'm not sure whether it can setup in HP-UX-11.23 Itanium box or not (Not OpenVMS)
We have two node e.g. node1 and node2 in RAC environment.
In node1, we plan to create one instance for each customer (Let say 10 customer, we will create 10 instances on same server).
For each instances (ORACLE_HOME), can we have their own ASM software (ASM instance) and CRS software (CRS HOME) instead of create one and share with all instances.
We're looking for multi-home concept, so that if one of our customer want to upgrade/patches oracle, it will NOT affect other customer.
Any idea, or any website can share with me?

Let say, we have 10 instances in one box, each database will have their RDBMS homes, if we can not have multiple ASM instances or CRS home.
Whenever we want to apply patches on one of the instances, definitely other instances will be affected.
Just want to know what is the best deploy/best practice to apply patches in such environment?I think the first 'best' practice is to not have multiple instances on a single server. But if you have to do it, I'd say virtualisation might help you so that each instance lives in it's own virtual machine with it's own operating system. That way, you can also patch the OS and reboot it and only affect a single database instance. The only problem with RAC might be that not all virtualization platforms are supported with RAC

I don’t think this can be done since the Scheduler changes are override(OracleBIData\scheduler\config\instanceconfig.xml)
by each other based on the rpd job manager config changes.
If we have separate DSN for RPD or Virtual dir as Analtyics this may be possible.
More over the below tag from OracleBIData\web\config\instanceconfig.xml points same host
<ScheduleServer>localhost</ScheduleServer>

Can I have 2 different EP instances in same server.

Hi Friends..
I have Enterise portal installed on server. It uses UME engine of SCM4.0 server.
Client weants to install EP for different SCM5.1 system along with the old one. I am new to EP and moreoevr have no idea if tha is feasible. They say they will publish 2 links on internet.... 1 with having link to SCM4.0 and other with SCM5.1.
Can you please provide me the guideline or some material abt same.? Is it possible and what are the risk factors. coz I have no ep development for R&D and we can't risk stopping our current EP working fine with SCM4.0

Hi Ranjan,
Considering your server sizing the performance will take a hit. But Still you can install 2 instance of EP in this server. All you need to take care is
1. Your SID of the instances should be different. Eg.,EPD & EPP
2. Your http port should be different. Eg., 50000 & 50200
For productive use it is recommended to have atleast 2GB for one instance exclusively. In your case you have only 4GB out of which your OS & DB will consume more than a GB. So consider increasing the RAM size.
HDD free space 10 GB should be enough.

No, your ID is essentially your account. You can have email aliases and you can have multiple accounts, but I don't think that's what you are asking.

Easiest way is to create separate computer logins with all your own info including your own iTunes library.
I recommend each individual not have more than one AppleID because you will have purchases on multiple accounts
You can use more than one AppleID in an iTunes library.
AppleID/iTunes =used for purchases.
iTunes library = iTunes and all media on your computer.

In case you didn't fully understand what dallon meant, it means another user account on your computer. You set that up in Windows and then instal iTunes onto that account.
That way, you each have your own desktop and your own itunes. You can link to the songs in the other person's library as well, but you cannot run both iTunes at the same time. (That simply means you need to close it on the first account before opening it on the second account.)

Yes, go to your Windows Control Panel and create another user,log into it, run iTunes and it's ready to rock and roll.
Transfer your content over via USB Key, Dropbox or external drive.
Heck the best thing would be to File > Backup library to disk with a bunch of DVD-R's, therefore you get a backup in the process!

I need to provide diffrent transactions variants for these 3 roles, through Variant groups. How will i do this?
When i tried to do this, i found that, we need to activate a standard variant for the transaction, which inturn will be default for all these roles. S how will i specify different Transaction variant for diff roles...

The way you explain is strange, I don't understand. You can't assign manually a variant group to a transaction variant, this is done automatically based on the names, maybe you make confusion with assignment between variant group and user?
A little example:
Say we have : ZG1 for group 1, and ZG2 for group 2. Transaction is ZT.
Say user is assigned to group ZG1 by default, and also ZG2 (he may switch to ZG2 using the transaction I mentioned above)
When user runs ZT transaction, SAP uses automatically ZG1ZT transaction variant (the standard variant is ignored when a transaction variant is found based on variant group). If the user switches to ZG2 variant group, SAP uses automatically ZG2ZT transaction variant.
If you activate a standard variant, this will taken into account for users which don't have a variant group assigned, or those which transaction variant doesn't exist for variant group + transaction code.
If it doesn't work as I said, maybe there is a bug, check SAP notes...

You can have them both on the same computer as I and many others have done for years.
Just go ahead and install FCS 3 normally.
There will be absolutely no problems.
