Can we install AIR files on Android?

Can we install AIR file on an Android device with AIR runtime installed? I have tried publishing APK and it works. If yes, what is the difference between publishing it as an AIR app and publishing it as an APK?

If you have administrator privileges on your Archos Tab you can try to side-load the AIR installer onto your Archos from your Android phone.  Copy the AIR APK from your phone to a location on your computer and then connect your Archos to your computer.  Or if you have a directory on the internet you can upload and download, though I don't know the legal ramifications concerning all of this side-loading.  You may only be licensed to use AIR on the device on which it was downloaded.
But if you can port your AIR application as a .air file, you might have an extension to your Adobe AIR publication software that allows you to publish an APK file, in which case all you have to do is connect the Archos to your computer and copy the apk to the Archos and install the application, if you have administrator privileges to install applications outside of the Archos market.
Does this make sense?  By no means should you "root" your device though because that could void your warranty and also incur other personal damages to you that you do not need to have.

  • Installing .air file on Windows 7 64-bit

This batch command works in XP and in Windows 7 32-bit, but not in Windows 7 64-bit:
    @echo off
    REM
REM  Set location to install to.  (This dir must exist or install wont work!)
    REM
    set INSTLOC="c:\producthelp"
    REM
    REM  Install help.
    REM
    AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent -eulaAccepted -location %INSTLOC% "Product Help.air"
(product name replaced with Product.) We are using the latest (today's) AdobeAIRInstaller.exe.   We have tried using identical syntax to install other .air files from the Adobe site; they did not install either. Is there something simple we're missing here?  Is there a known issue with installing .air files on 64-bit Windows 7?  I couldn't find one at this site.

I think the reason you have had no reply is that no one has an answer. The only thing I can think of is to ask if the AIR file installs if you run it normally rather than from a batch file. If it does, then you know where the problem is but I cannot help you with that.

So I read the topic suggested by Xenus989898 (this one http://forums.adobe.com/thread/782927?tstart=0) where you told to check the /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework folder
I just deleted it and then everything work ! AIR installed succesfully.

  • Installing .air file on osx Mavericks keeps asking for installation package

After upgrading to OSX Mavericks and Upgrading to Adobe CC I'm having trouble installing .air files.
I'm working on OSX Mavericks 10.9.1
I have built an Air application with the Air4.0 SDK in Flashbuilder 4.7 and packaged a release build as a signed Air Package.
When I try to install it by double clicking the .air file , the Air Application Manager Starts but asks for an Installation package instead of using the package I just doubleclicked.
Any ideas how to solve this?
    kind regards
    Patrick

    Hi
I never had Air 3.8 installed on my machine (after a clean install of osx mavericks). Only 3.9  4.0beta and now 4.0 release.
Even now that I reinstalled 4.0.0.1390 I'm not able te uninstall. It still give an "already installed message)
The Package insttaltion problem occurs with any .air file, so for instance even the air SettingsManager.air from the adobe site.
It's probably some hickup with my machine, but I don't know where to look anymore.
I'm not sure what you mean by the app.air file.
I have sent a a simple .air file to your mail address.
Oddly enough when I double click any .air file (and the "select installation package" window appears) and then doubelclick the .air file again from the finder,
the air installation window does appear behind!! the "select installation package" window ( but I can't click it ).
So it seems that, when first opened, the Adobe AIR Application Installer doesn't receive the file path of the .air file that was clicked.
    Best Regards
    Patrick

    Hello,
Flash Player is no longer supported on Android, however, you can install it manually on your own, or use a different browser in your Android device.

  • Installation Failed The installer can't install some files in "/".

    The full message is
Installation Failed! The installer can't install some files in "/". Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I first received this message when trying to upgrade Pro Tools from 8.0 to 8.0.1 a prerelease for snow leopard. I tried numerous things such as repairing permissions, as well as some pro tools specific things and to no avail. Still got the same error message.
So then I tried completely uninstalling and deleting all things pro tools from my computer. After a clean uninstall and removing all traces of pro tools I proceeded to try and re-install pro tools from my pro tools 8 disk. About a minute into the process I get the EXACT same error message.
I know this issue has been going on since even before snow leopard. I really need to get pro tools installed and running again or at least be able to get the program installed. I've isolated pro tools out of the mix because its been several different installers and even an installer from a dvd. I know this is a Snow Leopard or plain OS based problem. I have repaired permissions, created a brand new user, wiped clean and started over. I don't know anything else to do. PLEASE HELP???!!!

Hi Dean@mac & welcome to the forums...
Any specifics why it wants to install to / instead of Applications, as an example?
    Seen these threads yet?
    http://discussions.apple.com/search.jspa?search=Go&q=pro+tools
One thing to help investigate the issue is to create a new user just for testing that is stock with no add-on's etc., then login there and try to install. If it works there you can bet there is something unique to your original account that is borking that install - otherwise the issue is most likely global to your system and you might be out of luck until/unless a reportedly qualified version becomes available, etc.
    Good luck in any case.

    Hello Chris,
thanks for getting back to me. I managed to install the AIR using command line
and -silent -EULAaccepted options. Still having issues with installing Picaboo X
software, but i suppose it's a problem on their side as other apps are installing
    without issues

    Hi,
I'm sorry you're running into problems with the installer.  Was there any additional log information provided?  It appears that it's been truncated.  When the installer runs, do you see any dialogs, progress bars, or errors?  Finally, did you get any errors when you ran the AppleScript?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Mine is LG P500 with version Froyo 2.2.2. Any help ?
I was waiting to surf web with firefox from my phone for a long time. can anyone please let me know any known solution to it.

The mobile version of Firefox for Android requires a processor that supports the ARMv7 architecture, the LG Optimus P500 does not meet that requirement, it supports the ARMv6 architecture.

  • Can't install SIS files

I can't install sis files on my Nokia 6120. What I can do?

    Hi trulli82
Please be aware that Symbian S60 2nd edition use .sis whereas Symbian S60 3rd edition uses .sisx files.
Also go to Application Manager > Options > Settings and set "Online Certificate check" = OFF and Software Installation = ALL.
Secondly try resetting date on phone to January 1 2007 first and if that doesn't work try December 31 2006 as Symbian certificate may have expired; reset date after installation.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

I'm wondering if a previous admin on your system has done any of the following that might prevent it?
Administrators can apply the following configuration settings for Adobe AIR running on Windows:
    Preventing installation of AIR applications
Preventing installation of untrusted AIR applications
Disabling automatic updates of Adobe AIR updates
These settings are intended for use only within a closed environment, such as an enterprise where an IT administrator controls the end-users systems. These settings cannot be used as part of a native installer for distribution in an open environment.
On both Windows and Mac OS, there are administrative settings for SWF content loaded into Adobe AIR from external sources (outside the application).
    Preventing installation of AIR applications
On Windows, add a DWORD value named AppInstallDisabled to the HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Adobe\AIR registry key, and set the value to 1.
On Linux, modify the AppInstallDisabled setting in the globalRuntime.conf configuration file in /etc/opt/Adobe\ AIR/. For example, set AppInstallDisabled=1 to prevent installation of AIR applications.
If no setting is present or if the value is set to 0, installation of AIR applications is allowed. However, users still need system privileges to install to the application’s destination directory. Also, if system policy prohibits installation via Windows Installer (MSI), that policy is also respected by AIR.
Even if installation of AIR applications is allowed, the following restrictions are observed:
On Mac OS and Linux, to install or update an application, the user needs to have adequate system privileges to install to the application directory (and administrative privileges if the application needs to update Adobe AIR).
On Windows, a user needs to have administrative privileges.
Preventing installation of untrusted AIR applications
On Windows, add a DWORD value named UntrustedAppInstallDisabled to the HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Policies\Adobe\AIR registry key, and set the value to 1.
On Linux, modify the UntrustedAppInstallDisabled setting in the globalRuntime.conf configuration file in /etc/opt/Adobe\ AIR/. For example, set UntrustedAppInstallDisabled=1 to prevent installation of untrusted AIR applications.
If no setting is present or if the value is set to 0, installation of untrusted AIR applications is allowed. However, users still need system privileges to install to the application’s destination directory.
An AIR application is trusted when it has been signed with a certificate that is trusted, or which chains to a certificate that is trusted on the installation computer. For more information, see “Code signing” in the Adobe AIR Security white paper (http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_air_security_wp_en).

  • Can't Install AIR-based application

I'm using Flex Builder 3 (OSX 10.5) and AIR Runtime 1. Can
play my app in Flex just fine without errors/warnings. Publish to
AIR file and it won't install on any of 3 windows boxes I've tried.
I can install the same AIR app on Mac OSX (on which I'm running
    Flex) just fine.
Exact error experienced comes after you tell it where to
install & to create shortcut, etc. Gett this: "Sorry an error
has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try
installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the
    application author. Error# 0" [CLOSE]
I suspected a corrupt project or something since a new MXML
app with just a hello world text box in it wouldn't install either,
though it too played fine in Flex.
Created new project & could install hello world app
published from there. Copied all key src into new project &
exported Release Build but once again this wouldn't install on
Windows. Deleted all src except for hello world text file and now
    it won't install.
Tried publishing Release Build from another mac with Flex
Builder 3 and got same issue.
Tried uninstall/reinstall AIR runtime on windows box (as well
as latest install on a different windows box) and that didn't help.
The weirdest thing is that all of this worked fine yesterday
and Release Builds published then still install on the windows
    machines.

Tracked down the issue. Apparently I had a folder which
accidentally had a period (.) at the end of the folder name. This
didn't cause any hijinx on Mac OSX's HFS+ file system, but lost its
period (i'm assuming) on the windows machines I was trying to
install in. I can only assume it did a crosscheck to ensure all
files copied, saw the mismatch, and threw the error.
Certainly the error should be more descriptive or the export
Release Build function should have seen it as a cause for alarm
    during publish.

  • Can't install air application from website

I am trying to install an Adobe Air application from a local
web page using badge but get the "Something went wrong trying to
    install this application"
When I click on the .air file directly all works ok
One thing I've noticed is that if I try to launch the .air
file from the browser, it doesn't to know what program to use to
open the file as buttons on the (Do you want to save this file or
find a program online to open it) dialog are Find, Save and Cancel
    (Not Open).
I've checked the file extensions in Internet Tools and the
program for .air is Adobe Air Application Installer which I assume
    is correct.
I've also checked that the MIME entry is correct on IIS
I'm running on a 32bit machine with Vista Business and using
    IE7
Can anyone help me please, I've been stuck on this for
    ages
