Can we install OC4J R3 on top of 9iAS R2 Enterprise Edition

Can we install the OC4J R3 on top of 9iAS R2 Enterprise Edition?
We were able to install the OC4J R3 on top 9iAS R1 EE, but not on 9iAS R2 EE, any clues on this?
Thank you
H.M.Mallik

ummm I assume that we can not easily upgrade OC4J from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3 in an Oralce 9iAS App Server R2 Enterprise Edition, but is there any workaround for this? bcas we want to use the advanced features of OC4J 9.0.3 relese and want to use the JAAS/JAZN with SSO that is supported by 9iAS EE R2. Or can we use the JAZN/LDAP/OID just with plain OC4J ?
Thank you
H.M.Mallik
OC4J is tightly integrated with Oracle9iAS and is also used internally Oracle9iAS to provide basic services e.g. EM, Portal, Wireless, etc. and is tested by Oracle and for that reason you can just upgrade the OC4J inside Oracle9iAS. There will be production of Oracle9iAS 9.0.3 (J2EE-Webcache edition) that will have production release of OC4J 9.0.3 and this will be sometime next month.

Are you talking about the "Developers Preview" (v 9.0.3)? That is a stand-alone version, and cannot be associated with Infrastructure. When the production version comes out, it will work with the infrastructure.

Thanks very much for the post. I am using this tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apexinst/apexinst.htm) and everything seems to be working fine till I move to the step where I create A New Workspace. • Can I install ID6 over the top of 5.5 or do I need to uninstall 5.5 first

Can I install ID 6 over the top of 5.5 or do I need to uninstall 5.5 first?

    Hi GT Service Desk
Yes , You can Install both together,

  • Can I install cs6 on desk top

Can I install adobe photoshop cs6 on my desk top & laptop

Yes, the license allows two activated installations, precisely to cover a desktop/laptop or work/home scenario (you can have it installed on as many machines as you like, but only two can be activated at any given time).
The license is personal and the two installations can not be used at the same time.

  • Can you install Lion over the top of Mountain Lion to get rid of these awful Logic glitches?

    Folks -
I too have experienced the 'help! Logic is running away with itself and won't respond to me' scenario. I thought it was just me at first... I know there are several other folks that are having other problems ranging from annoyances to show-stoppers.
In my case, the biggest problem is that my Mackie Control (original; version 1.02)that has worked flawlessly in the past is plagued with the following symptoms:
Frequently is not detected or initialized when Logic starts up. This always worked prior to Mountain Lion.
If it IS detected, it will get a MIDI download from Logic so that all of the screen text and values come up, but none of the input functions (i.e. raising/lowering a fader on the control surface) are picked up/executed by Logic. I have tried different MIDI ports and cables and no change in the problem.
This control surface is pretty important for my workflow. I am seriously considering downgrading back to Lion, if it's possible.
Does anyone know if it is possible/safe to install Lion back on top of Mountain Lion? The glitches in Logic with Mountain Lion have made the system unstable and fairly unusable.
    Thanks!
    Pete

Turns out that the problem REALLY WAS MOUNTAIN LION!
I had a clone of my Mountain Lion disk in my Mac Pro. I do a full clone every night, so I booted from that, and erased my primary disk.
Then, I used Time Machine to go back to just before I installed Mountain Lion and then booted from the Lion DVD that I had made when Lion launched (see Google for this). I recovered to my erased disk, and 2.5 hours later I had a full 10.7.4 system up and running on my primary disk. This WORKS!!! I have just tried Logic, and the problems I was having disappeared. The Mackie Control surface is now responsive, and I'll bet Logic doesn't run away anymore either. Great tools - Carbon Copy Cloner (I'm a registed user) and Time Machine saved my butt.

  • Can we replace oc4j 9.0.2 in 9iAS 9.0.2 infrastructure with oc4j 9.0.3 ?

    Hi all,
We want to use OC4J 9.0.3 because of it support of JMS and new J2EE features. We want to use the complete 9ias 9.0.2 EE (which is infrastructure) because the OID and SSO support.
    I know the NOTE
** NOTE: OC4J Standalone is purely for standalone purposes. This version CANNOT be used to replace the OC4J running in ANY existing Oracle9iAS Installation.
but, because of the business requirements, can we do so?
what kind of issues we will have if we do so??
I read some docs about creating new OC4J instances using dcmctl and OEM. Can I go through the same steps to create a OC4J 9.0.3 in 9ias???
or is there any alternatives for this??
    thanks for any help...
    -vijay

I asked this on Metalink and oracle said you cannot upgrade/replace it with the 903 version with any installs using BI or Portal/Wireless.

  • Can i install the Portal Server 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 ?

    hi all,
Can i install Portal Server 7 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 ?
    Thnx in Advance.

    Hi All,
After tearing my hair out for about 3 weeks I've figured following are the steps for installing Sun Portal Server 7 on RH Linux 4. These though help successful installation I am still struggling to get the Single Sign On for the sample applications working.
    1. Boot linux with the network cable disconnected. (cable disconnected or wireless disabled is very important).
    2. set Hostname to localhost.localdomain
    3. Start INstaller (I always used the root login).
    4. Once the components list comes up "select All" then unselect "Sun POrtal Server 7" and "Sun Java System Portal Secure Remote Access". (trust me firends I am not kidding around).
    5. Follow steps of installation. Provide a password wherever requested. Highly suggested that you note down the options and the values you are entering in each step. Its about 20 page installer. Also whereever host and domain is asked for use localhost.localdomain. IP should be 127.0.0.1. Valid IP and valid domain name will also work but I haven't gone that route yet.
    6. Take special note of the LDAP Admin Password and LDAP user password. Note the usernames too. The admin password and user passwords HAVE to be different. DO NOT Forget the admin password. Default admin name is amAdmin.
    7. Go ahead and let the installation complete.
    8. I always used localhost.localdomain as domain name and host name and IP to loopback address 127.0.0.1
Once the installation is complete start newly installed server in the following sequence
    A. To start localhost slapd:
    cd /var/opt/sun/directory-server/slapd-localhost/
    ./start-slapd
    cd /var/opt/sun/directory-server/
    ./start-admin
(you can test here by running ./startconsole and loggin in using the admin username and password (you you should have remembered those... don't tell me I didn't warn you :)...)
    B. To start Sun Java System Application Server
    cd /opt/sun/appserver/bin
./asadmin start-domain --user [username] --passwordfile [a simple txt file with only the password in it] [domain name]
    e.g.
    ./asadmin start-domain user admin passwordfile adminpassword.txt domain1 OR
    ./asadmin start-domain user admin password pass123 domain1
takes a few seconds to kick it off.
open browser and go to http://localhost.localdomain:8080/ to check if application server is running
    C. To start Identity Server
    cd /opt/sun/identity/bin
    ./amserver start
Now go to the SunPortal Server installer again and run it.
    9. In the screen that asks whether you want to install only or configure select configure now.
    10. Fill in required parameters like password. and user name. ( I kept ALL default and used the same password all throughout except for LDAP admin, I am doing this for a PoC so security be damned at the moment ).
    11. Be sure to fill in the correct LDAP admin and user passwords because else installation will fail.
    12. Let the installation roll
    13. At about 38% it will give a popup warning configuration may take upto an hour. If you get to click on this popups ok button good things are progressing fine. If not some server didn't start right.
    14. Takes about 15 minutes (depends on machine config) after you hit okay for the configuration to complete. Anything lesser check logs for any failure notices.
    15. IF all success reported congratulations!!!
    16. Goto http://localhost.localdomain:8080/portal/ to go to portal home page
    IT STILL DOESN"T WORK!!! HELP!!!
Folks after all I said above it still doesn't work. When I go to any of the portal server Sample Applications and try to log in using the default usernames
    Community Samples has test/test
Enterprise Sample has mary/mary ed/ed etc
I cannot log in... The screen simply refreshes but doesn't go anywhere.
I am suspecting this is because the domain and host is pointing to localhost.localdomain instead it should be given a valid domain name and a valid host and a valid IP instead of 127.0.0.1. If anyone can throw anymore light on this I'll be grateful.

  • How can I install add-ons with CC Packager and an Enterprise licence?

I'd like to install  Adobe Color CC Panel (kuler). I dont seem to have access to add-ons via Cloud Packager. The end-users can't install anything. Can I somehow have access to the installation files?

Instead of left clicking you can right-click the Download button and use "Save Link as" to save the file to your computer.

  • Can not install oc4j!!

    I just started studing JDeveloper.
In one example "Creating and Using Web Services"
    there is one instruction:
To use the instance of OC4J that comes with JDeveloper as an external server on which to deploy the Web services you create, you need to install and start OC4J:
To install, from the Command Prompt navigate to <jdev_install>/j2ee/home, where <jdev_install> is the folder in which you installed JDeveloper, then issue the following command:
    start java -jar oc4j.jar -install
When prompted, enter an admin password, such as welcome.
To start OC4J, issue the command:
    start java -jar oc4j.jar
Keep this window open (you can minimize it if desired).
BUT, when I type this "start java -jar oc4j.jar -install", i've got a message "FILE NOT FOUND".
    Can you help me?
    Thank you in advance!
P.S. I have already post the same questions in other forums. I am very sorry, but it's my first experience with forum...

    try just typing
    java -jar oc4j.jar -install
    without the start

  • How can I install google on the top right address place on Safari?

I use Safari with MSN. My google access disappeared. I do not like Bing. I want to get google back onto
the top right address bar. Thanks

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're all users here.
I'm on 'Snow Leopard' OS X 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.8, so these screenshots are from my computer.
The specific instructions for the 'Leopard' OS X 10.5.8 Safari will be similar, but not identical.
First, your 'Spotlight' Search window in the upper right corner of Safari probably has a downward-pointing arrow. Click it to temporarily select another search engine at the bottom.
To permanently set the search engine preference, open the Safari, Preferences, General tab, select Default Search Engine, and select Google.

  • Can I install win2008R2 Standard if I own a win2008R2 enterprise License?

    As title.

    Hii Martin..
There is no way you can degrade from Enterprise to Standard. It is at OS level not at application level, which can be removed and reinstalled again. Best to create new servers with standard editions and get rid of these or buy enterprise lic.
I'm fairly certain such a thing is not possible.  DISM can be used to "upgrade" from, say, Standard to Enterprise, but you can't go the other way, according to this Technet blog post:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server_core/archive/2009/10/14/upgrading-windows-server-2008-r2-without-media.aspx
The only best way is to Re-install and no simple way as it could break the windows functionality.
A 2008 R2 Datacenter license does allow for multiple (unlimited, in fact) Enterprise guest OSes on the server to which the Datacenter license has been applied.  The host OS on that server does not have to be 2008 R2 Datacenter, or even Windows - the virtual
licensing still applies if the host is running VMware, for example.  (The only thing you'd lose in that case is the right to run a physical instance of 2008 R2 Datacenter as the virtualization host - you're not permitted to split that off and run it on
    another server.)
If you choose this route, note that Datacenter is licensed per physical processor, so you may have to purchase more than one Datacenter license (which aren't cheap) for a single server.
    Thanks

  • Can I Install SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 on Enterprise Linux 64 bit ?

    Hi everyone.
I just downloaded and installed Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.1 for x86_64.
I tried installing SOA suite 10.1.3.1 and failed the distro check. I then tried to do this with the ignoreSysPreReqs switch and got the following exception :
/tmp/OraInstall2008-01-17_03-50-18PM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
So is this instalation possible ?
    Thanassis

With new products and point releases coming out so often (which is a good thing) from Oracle development, there would be no way that Development could forsee in advance every single package that might be needed to install the various Oracle technology stacks.
But finding and installing whatever packages you need is pretty painless using Yum and Up2Date on Enterprise Linux.
Take a look at the following and use in conjunction with the setup guide
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/htdocs/yum-repository-setup.html

  • Can I install Photoshop CS6 before uninstalling CS5 on a Win 7 PC or must I deactivate CS5 first?

Can I install CS6 over the top of CS5 or should CS5 be deactivated prior to installing the new version?

Both are different products and can co exist with each other. The choice is yours if you want to keep both or either. Also there are a few more specifics that determine the answer to your question.
Is Photoshop CS 5 a part of a suite or an individual product that you installed ?
Is Photoshop CS 5 an upgrade from a previous version or a full product ?
    Thanks
