Can we manually Win 7 Lenovo EE laptop ?

hi
i bought my thinkpad edge 13 0196-2zg with Free DOS , so i cant use Lenovo Win 7 EE features =( i had my original win 7 pro license and i installed it alone with clean install .
so i wanna ask if i can manually set Lenovo Win 7 EE features ? BIOS settings and others ?
+ ThinkPad X201 3626-FBG / Intel Core i5 M520 2.4Ghz / DDR3 8Gb / Intel SSD 730 Series 240Gb / 12.1" WXGA 1280x800px / Dual boot Win7 Pro x64 - Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit + X200 Ultrabase + ThinkVision L2250p

The EE features which come preloaded with newer systems are customized images from Lenovo. You may not be able to obtain the full EE experience but after you install Windows7,bios updates and drivers will get you closer to an EE experience
PS:Windows 7 by nature is very responsive. It all depends on how you maintain your PC.That will give you the best experience
Cheers and regards,

Go to the Lenovo website @
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT074075  This information is usually found in your owner manual for the laptop.  Have you read the owner's manual?
The manufacturer is always the first place you should look for all support for computer systems.  Microsoft has absolutely nothing to do with the configuration of the hardware that is used by the manufactures in their products.

  • I loaded Win 7 on my laptop and didn't back up my phone to I tunes. I loaded IOS 6 to the phone and it needed to sync. The Itunes didn't connect to my account phone factory reset. I have logged on why can't I get my apps and music back to my phone?

I loaded Win 7 on my laptop and hadn't loaded I tunes yet when I updated my phone to IOS 6. It needed to sync and had to factory reset. I have loaded I tunes, logged on yet still can't get my apps or music to load on my phone again? I have added the I tunes back-up to the folder on my newly loaded PC? Any suggestions before I go to the apple store and use the F word.

The same thing happened to my poor sister, and she is panicking because of all of her photos of her "daughter growing up" that will be lost.  It seems that this has happened to several people already, and I REALLY hope that Apple figures this out so that it doesn't force all of these people to completely reset their devices.  Best of luck to you, and I am bookmarking this and other similar discussions to monitor for other, more desirable solutions.

  • Can You Upgrade the Processor in a Lenovo B570 Laptop?

I've gotten all sorts of mixed answers, so I'm going to ask directly here at Lenovo: Can I upgrade my B570 from a Pentium B950 2.10GHz Dual core? And if so, what processors are compatible with my motherboard?

I did it! I didn't think it was possible! I sucessfully upgraded my B570 from an intel core i3 2350m to a core i7 2720m. Even though one is 35 watt and the other is 45 watt, it still worked. The i7 is running hotter but nothing horribly bad.  50C to near 70 C.  I followed a take apart youtube video. It's sort of complex because the CPU is on the upper side of the motherboard. I only had 1 screw left over!! YAY!  Everything appears to be working fine. My WIFI wasn't working at first but I went back in and reset the bios to default settings and reset comptuer and bam now it's working.  The speed increase wasn't at all what I had expected.  I just upgraded my ram from 4 GB to 8 GB a few days back and that actually provided the biggest speed boost of all.
So it CAN be DONE as long as you get a core i3, i5, i7 series that starts with a 2*** (sandy bridge). I also used the long parts manual provided by lenovo in order to find a chip compatable with my b570 system. They list a number of chips. I bought the next to the most fastest they had listed because the price ot the BEST one just wasn't worth the cost.
    AGAIN...it does WORK!

  • Where can I find linux drivers for my laptop? Does lenovo support provides that to download?

    Dear All,
    I purchased a Lenovo G570 (Model Name: 20079).
Where can I find linux drivers for my laptop?
Does lenovo support provides that to download?
    Sincerely,
    Srinivas Nayak

    Hello snayak
Do not worry about Linux drivers for your laptop. All needed drivers for most of the machines are on the Linux kernel. Most hardware are recognized by latest kernel. So all you have to do is install your distro and enjoy Linux.
The best way to check if all hardware are recognized is booting up a distro in live mode and test the hardware.
You can make a test with Linux Mint, and install their new and amazing DE called Cinnamon. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

  • Forced Win 8.1 Upgrade - Display Dimmed (10%) on Lenovo Z500 Laptop

As you know - Microsoft forced the 8.1 upgrade on 8.0 users. The Lenovo Z500 laptop has a display problem (dim lit monitor) once 8.1 installed. There appears to be no firmware / software fix - so what is the solution ? In the event there is a hardware swap
or another alternative, please let your customers know. Do not compromise your Goodwill, maybe your legal staff should have a talk with Microsoft. Microsoft compromised Lenovo Customers by forcing the 8.1 Upgrade. As others, one day it downloaded and installed
on its own without user intervention. Now I have a laptop that is so dim, it is no longer functional for me. Trade-In Options ?
Or Microsoft Operating System Fix ?

Look at britishdez link, it says:
    5
    After upgrading, you may install the latest Windows update. However, you cannot adjust the brightness on U310, U410, U510, U410 Touch, U310 Touch, Z500 Touch, Z500, Z400, Z400 Touch, Z380, Z480, Z580, Z485, Z585, S300, S400, S400u, S400 Touch, S405, S206, G485,

Uninstall the VGA driver and reinstall the original driver.
Upgrading your Intel Graphic Driver should help. Good luck!

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • Unknown Device in Device Manager for Lenovo G780 laptop, Windows 7

Hails all.  I am trying to figure out what the Unknown Device is under Other Devices in my Device Manager.  I recently got rid of Windows 8 and put Windows 7 64-bit on my Lenovo G780 laptop.  I installed almost everything from the Lenovo site --- all of the drivers and such, software, etc.  I cannot figure out what this device may be.  The only external device connected to the laptop is a Kensington usb mouse.  Any ideas?
I did run the PCI test program and the Motherboard test program that Lenovo provides and it didn't find any errors.  Windows Update hasn't found update/driver/software for the Unknown Device.  The Lenovo Solutions software only tells me to open Device Manager.

    Welcome to the forum!
Since Windows Update didn't pick up any missing drivers, I'm guessing you are missing a driver for a device that would be propriatary to Lenovo.  During the installation of Windows 7, did you install the One Key Recovery software ?  If not, the One Key Recovery button maybe triggering that exclamation mark in Device Manager since there is no driver to tell Windows what to do with that button.
If that wasn't the problem you can try running Unknown Device Indentifier to see if that utility can indentify the unknown device.  The free program can be found at the link below........

  • VM created on Win 8.1 Pro Laptop cannot find win 7 iso file on USB

VM cannot find USB to load Win 7
I have a Windows laptop with Win 8.1 Pro installed. I turned on Hyper-V and created a VM. Everything worked up to that point. I also downloaded the Win 7 iso and placed it on a USB thumb drive.  I also downloaded the Win 7 installer.
When I "start" the VM, I get a black screen with a message the VM could not load an OS.
It appears to me that the VM does not know where to look for the OS. I cannot find any way to tell it where to look.
I spent over $300 for upgrades to Win 8.1 Pro and a licensed copy of Win 7 so I could run Win 7 on my laptop as I need it to run UPK (which is not compatible with Win 8).
As a last resort I went to the Micrsoft store in Miami and offered to buy a Surface Pro 3 if they would install the VM and Win 7 on that for me. They said it was very easy to do and I would have no problems, etc., etc., etc. In other words they did not have
a clue about what I was talking about.
I hate to see over $3000 worth of hardware collecting dust on my closet shelf because I cannot use them. I am hopeful someone here can help a non-techie make this thing work.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis
PS - Went to the Apple store last night and was shown a MacBook Air with Parallels installed. It was running Apple stuff on the Apple OS and MS Office 365 on Win 7. It was all very seamless so am leaning very much to going with Apple as a solution.

You don't say that you attached the iso to the VM.  The easiest way to do
that is to connect to the VM and then on the console, pull down the
"Media" menu, Select "Insert Disk", then browse to the ISO and select it.
Then under the "Action" menu, select "Reset".
You can also mount an iso in the settings for the VM.

  • Flash crashes Windows 7 Pro 64 bit IE11. Lenovo X301 laptop with Intel Graphics. Confirmed it happen

My company has several Lenovo X301 laptops with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) running IE11. I load clean versions of Flash onto these laptops (latest version 12.0.0.77) and every single one of these laptops crashes when opening IE11.
One thing I noticed when I used the help.adobe.com site. Using IE11, the box which "dynamically displays the following information" shows the correct version of Flash player and OS but the browser says "None". If I run Chrome, it says the correct Flash version but the OS says "Windows 7 (32 bit) and the browser correctly says "Google Chrome".
The crash report for IE11, module name is Flash32_12_0_0_77.ocx.
    1. Why is the program unable to determine the correct browser?
    2. Why does it appear that a 64 bit program is trying to use a 32 bit plug-in?
    Any ideas?

    1. "User-Agent Strings"
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.Microsoft has no immediate plans to "fix" the mess they've created.
    2. Chrome is a 32 bit browser, and will identify as such, including the plug-ins in it.
IE uses the plug-in from the SyWOW64 folder (WOW=Windows On WIndows - which runs 32 bit apps in the 64 bit environment)

    Hi,
Anyone experiences this, after upgrading for Win 8.1, my laptop freezes 10 seconds every now and then. It doesn't matter if I am running just the browser or working in excel. Anyone have similar problems and any solutions?

Can you please give full notebook model but also BIOS and ME version please?
It sounds like some incompatibility with drivers.

  • Web Camera doesn't work on my Lenovo G570 laptop, Please Help?

Well I recently bought a lenovo G570 laptop. The webcam worked fine for the first month. I don't really know when the camera stopped working but it seems that every software that uses a camera can detect the camera but when the video window pops up it is just plain white. I know the reason isn't because of the hot key FN+ESC because it works fine, I can disable and enable the camera. I read many threads with the same problem. I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers and easy capture but it does not solve my problem. Can someone please help?

As I  understand the camera is not working.
If the camera is getting activate by Fn+Esc key then it could be driver issue.
You need to uninstall the camera software and other relates software.
Update the BIOS and then install the camera drier
Download the BIOS update for Windows 7 32bit from the mentioned below web link.

  • Lenovo G550 laptop - red, blue, yellow specks and lines on screen

    Hello,
I have a 2 year old Lenovo G550 laptop, system model 20023 ( Dual-Core CPU T4300 2,10Ghz, 3,00GB RAM) running 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium OS with graphic card Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
Month ago, I started getting 2 vertical lines on my screen, which change colors and tend to disappear when I tilt it. Recently, problem graduated to red, blue, yellow specks all over the screen. Tilting no longer works, but I noticed a definite relationship with the degree of pressure on the case. When I push hard enough on the left spot below the case (where hard disk is located), the problem resolves completely. I also tried plugging another monitor in and there seems to be no problem either. Please, help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Graphic card issue sounded highly unlikely with the external monitor image appearing to be normal. I tried reseating the lcd cable and it fixed the problem.
