Can we overwrite .ind .pag essbase files?

Hi all,
We have a situation wherein we have to restore .ind, .pag files for an application.
Can we directly overwrite the index and pag files with no changes to outline.
Please let me know if this can be done. Thanks in advance.

I was not able to restore only index files.
Had to restore all the supporting files as you have mentioned and it worked fine.
Where can I find information about the supporting files required and process when Essbase application is started ?

Hi, I'm helping StringSinger2 with this problem.
The previously installed version is Pages 3.0.3 (the same as from iWork 08). This version (Pages 3.0.3/iWork 08) is incompatible with Pages 5.
That is why it would be helpful to install iWork 09, which is the version between the two. It will open the older 08 files, and its saved files are readable by the new Pages5.
SO...
When I try to install iWorks 09 from my retail DVD the error message is "the installer is damaged". (I know the dvd is good, I installed iWorks09 to my laptop today.) Is the "installer" part of the system files? And - If that is damaged is there a patch for that?

Since buying Pages 5.2 can't open any Pages 09 files

Since purchasing and updating to Pages 5.2 I can't open any Pages 09 files. Tried various things, nothing working.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Can't send single-page PDF files to other apps

When someone emails me a PDF with multiple pages, the files appears as an attachment in the email and I have to click on it to view it. Once I click on it, I am taken to a full screen view of the PDF and I can scroll to see the other pages. When I tap the screen, the square with an arrow point up appears in the upper right corner. When I touch the square with the arrow, I am given the option to send the PDF to Messages, Mail, etc. I also have a app on my iPad called PDF Expert and I can send it to this app as well. PDF expert lets me draw on the PDF so I can sign documents.
So here's the problem. When a single-page PDF is sent to me, it appears in-line, in the email body itself. It does not appear as an attachment. When I click on it, instead of it taking it to another page where I can view it full screen, it gives me the option to Select or Copy. This doesn't help me at all. I have had this problem with images showing up inline in the email body as well.
Being able to see the attachment inline is a nice idea, but there absolutely needs to be a way to send it to another page to be viewed full screen and to give the option to send it to other apps.

I have been having the same problem... Here is how I solved it.
I removed all graphics from my automatic email signature line and then it worked!!!! For some reason, the ipad mail app cant handle a graphic signature block and an attachment.

I can't edit multi page PDF file in Illustrator at once.

I made 30-page PDF file in Illustrator last week.
Yesterday my co-woker eited and sent to me.
but i can't open 30-pages all in once
instead of this window pops up and only 1 page of all open it.

Keep a backup of the .ai file. Your coworker should not be making edits to pdfs, only commenting tools. Tell your coworker not to do that again, unless they know what they are doing (eg: are creating from scripts). If they persist, or this is your boss, lock the PDF with security protection.
This script may help you. Keep in mind the popular pdf preset smallest file size converts to RGB, so your color will change and l;ayers possibly flattentin if Illustrator editing capabilites is lost.

Can't open multi-page illustrator file

I'm on a mac. I have Illustrator CC. I'm trying to open a multi-page .ai file, and I get the dialogue that usually happens when you're trying to open a non-illustrator multi-page pdf. :

when I do a get info on the file, it says Saved As v.15 Created by v.15.0.0
How can I open this file and get all the artboards without running a script? I want to retain all the text formatting.

That usually happens when files get corrupted and only the PDF part of the file is still intact.
Did you perhaps save it directly to or open it directly from a server?

Since I downloaded and installed adobe reader 10, I can't see web page pdf files in safari but I can copy and paste into firefox and I can see the pdf. How can I fix this?

Quit Safari.
Go to /Library/Internt Plug-Ins.
Move the AdobePDFViewer.plugin to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari.

Others Can't Open My Pages 08 Files

I created a simple page layout document using Pages 08 which consists of text and one small grayscale graphic. When I send this file to another Mac user with Pages 08, they are unable to open the document (message: unable to open document). This has happened on several occasions with two different users, both of whom have Pages O8 on their systems. I have tried sending the file as a regular .pages document; I have also tried compressing the file first: but neither work. I have tried sending the file by iChat, as an attachment to email, and via my iDisk--none of these methods make a difference. I do not experience this problem when sending other files.
This is quite frustrating; any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, compressing documents as .zip archives thru the Finder's File menu works flawlessly.

Can anti-virus scans lock essbase files (.sec / .pag / .ind etc) and cause issues/delays.

Yes, virus scanning s/w can lock Essbase files which can cause problems/issues. I have faced similer problem when build faild due to locked .pag files. So best practice is to scedule virus scan s/w in off hours i.e. when no build process is due.

Organizing Page Definition Files

Hi,
Just wondering is there any way I can control where the Page Definition Files are created as I keep on building pages in a project.
I mean, I would like to have all of my page def files in a single package instead of their default location (generally page folder structure).
Looking for an elegant way to manage project structure, like we control business component package from JDeveloper Tools > Preferences > ADF Business Components > Packages.

How to save a Pages '09 file as Pages '08 in Mountain Lion?

Help! I upgraded to Mountain Lion and now with the Save As gone I can't save my Pages '09 files as Pages '08 files which I need to do very badly to share files with my teaching team. Please help ASAP!!!!

Save As… has returned with Mountain Lion. Hold down the Option/alt key while clicking on the File menu & there it is! It also has a default keyboard shortcut.

Can't Overwrite Existing Files with Same Name - Likely a Mail Error?

Couldn't find this on the forum... Hope I can explain this properly.
When I design something and send a proof I will send a PDF through mail. When the revises come in I used to be able to just overwrite the existing files on my desktop and re-send through mail. But now programs won't let me overwrite files with the same name anymore. Basically the program says "overwrite existing file?" but then say "file is in use. Can't overwrite."
Back in Leopard this used to happen when I would have a mail draft open that used the data of the file I sent or was about to send. I would just have to save the mail message as a draft and the file was "no longer in use" so I could proceed as usual. But now it does this all the time regardless.
Did this make sense? It's kind of hard to explain... But basically now when I want to send a revised file (and this can happen dozen of times in a day) I have to trash the existing file I want to overwrite. Or rename the file, which is confusing for me and my clients.
Any thoughts?

I have the same situation as you - sending out pdfs of designed pages and wanting to overwrite them continually. It used to happen on an older version of Mail, then it disappeared and now it's back with the latest version.
It's more than annoying, it's downright driving me nuts. In the last hour I had to quit Mail seven times.
Please send a fix for this Apple.

Ah, I see want you mean. This might not be practical for you, but if you select one instance of the highlighted text and add a [space] to the little sticky note, all of the highlighted text on that page will appear in the summary.
