Hi ,
As I know I can user Physical standby database for upgrade database with minimal downtime . Can I use the same with patching Oracle application using adpatch.
In other words can we patch Application (using Adpatch) with no downtime using physical standby .

My dotnet application is used for creating users, granting access on the servers. Some servers are 21C servers and some are legacy servers. This application is treated as user interface and maintaining tool of all this information and later on the basis of that request it generates the job-sheet. This job sheet is forwarded to responsible engineer who further provisions the request manually by going to that specific server in the request. So I want to automate this process that when user put any access or create user request then the moment he puts the request, that request should be provisioned without any human intervention i.e. automatically users must be created or password must be changed. I believe you will get an enough idea about my problem from all above information. So please help me.

Best Practices for patching Sun Clusters with HA-Zones using LiveUpgrade?

We've been running Sun Cluster for about 7 years now, and I for
one love it. About a year ago, we starting consolidating our
standalone web servers into a 3 node cluster using multiple
HA-Zones. For the most part, everything about this configuration
works great! One problem we've having is with patching. So far,
the only documentation I've been able to find that talks about
patch Clusters with HA-Zones is the following:

This documentation works, but has two major drawbacks:
1) The nodes/zones have to be patched in Single-User Mode, which
translates to major downtime to do patching.
2) If there are any problems during the patching process, or
after the cluster is up, there is no simple back out process.
We've been using a small test cluster to test out using
LiveUpgrade with HA-Zones. We've worked out most of bugs, but we
are still in a position of patching our HA-Zoned clusters based
on home grow steps, and not anything blessed by Oracle/Sun.
How are others patching Sun Cluster nodes with HA-Zones? Has any
one found/been given Oracle/Sun documentation that lists the
steps to patch Sun Clusters with HA-Zones using LiveUpgrade??

there is a blueprint that deals with this problem in much more detail. Actually it is based on configurations that are solely based on ZFS, i.e. for root and the zone roots. But it should be applicable also to other environments. Patch 9205 to 9208 on production and physical standby

I have to apply patch on production db and as wellas on standby db can anyone provide me the steps or a metalink on how to apply the patch in scenario like mine.
I am on win2003 server with 9205 and have to apply 9208 patch
Is it advisable to apply the patch on both the servers or first we shoulsd apply the patch on production and if everything went fine then we should apply the patch on physical standby
Please advice me on the pros and cons as per the above scene

The JVM deals exclusively with existing OS software. So, for example, even though the hard drive is hardware, the JVM uses the OS io routines to talk to it.
If you have a custom piece of hardware then you will need something similar.
If it is a serial/parallel device then you can look at the comm api.
If it is really unusual then you could write a miny driver server than uses sockets. Then the java app would just use on box sockets to control it so no JNI would be needed. (But C/C++ still would be required for the server.)

We have an web application that does a redirect thru a database package to a 3rd party site. They would like us to encrypt the querystring that is passed using RSA encryption. The example that they've given us (below) uses the RSA cryptographic service available in .NET. Is it possible to do this using DBMS_CRYPTO or some other method in Oracle?
Below are the steps outlined to use the key to generate the encrypted URL
2.1 Initialize Service
The RSA cryptographic service must be initialized with the provided public key. Below is sample code that can be used to initialize the service using the public key

Can't join movies split with HJ Split using chunk joiner

I have a movie that was split into 2 clips using HJ Split. First I tried to use Imovie to join the 2 but only the first clip is highlighted in the list of files (the second is there but the name is muted). Also, I can't open the second clip by itself. Someone suggested using Chunk Joiner to recombine the 2. I downloaded chunkjoiner22.bin, expanded it and tried to open the application but got a message saying it was not supported on my system. Does anyone know if there is a different version or another piece of freeware that will do the trick?

That program is probably to old/not compatible for Tiger.

Can I sync my iPhone with a Nextbook using windows 8?

I haven't bought the Nextbook yet but am planing on it soon. I need to know how compatible it will be with my iPhone and my macbook. I need to move music and pictures from the Mac to the Nextbook and am not sure if it's even possible.

As long as it is running full Windows 8.1 (and not the RT edition of Windows as found on Microsoft's Surface and Surface 2 tablets) then it should be capable of running iTunes. I would be wary, though, that tablets - especially lower cost ones - may not have sufficient processing power, memory, or internal storage to make using iTunes a pleasant experience. Even on some netbooks (generally faster/more memory/more storage than tablets) iTunes can be frustratingly slow, especially if you're running other applications at the same time.
Unless someone here can provide positive feedback I'd suggest that you try and find someone who has installed iTunes on the same model of tablet that you're looking at and see what their comments are.
