Can we re-activate Adobe patches once expired in SCUP and syncronized to WSUS and SCCM 2012 as expired?

Hi,
I expired a couple of Adobe patches in SCUP and published them in WSUS. They got synchronized in WSUS and SCCM as expired. After about two weeks those expired patches got cleaned from SCCM ( at least from UI).
I want to activate them again in SCUP and re-publish as active patches in SCCM. But its not working - I've tried WSUS cleanup and  SCUP cleanup already!
Is there any way to re-active expired patches published by SCUP in WSUS and SCCM ? & How?
Excerpt from SCUP.Log:
PublishItem: Item 'Reader Multi Lingual User Interface 10.1.4 Update (UpdateId:'5c22235f-a3d9-48db-95eb-a60ec1886e8e' Vendor:'Adobe Systems, Inc.' Product:'Adobe Reader')' is on the update server and is expired, no publish actions are possible.

The key here is knowing WHY those updates were "expired" in the first place.
Most likely they were expired because they superseded another update. If so, merely duplicating and publishing won't achieve anything, because the duplicated/re-published update will also be superseded and get promptly expired again.
Ergo, if expired because superseded, the superseding package will need to be customized to remove the supersession references and it also will need to be republished, which also means that certain other considerations may need to be taken as well ... such
as the fact that you now have multiple packages that will conflict with one another that no longer have the requisite supersession metadata.
Regarding this scenario. Configuration Manager 2012 introduced the option to NOT EXPIRE superseded updates, or to defer the expiration for a specified number of days. This is not a SCUP thing; it's a ConfigMgr thing.
Configure the ConfigMgr product to behave the way you desire. Problem solved. :)
If YOU actually expired them in SCUP... then just UNEXPIRE them and republish. Shouldn't be any need to duplicate and republish. This is what Microsoft does all the time. Expire Update 'A' Rev 100 on Monday; publish Update 'A' Rev 101 on Patch Tuesday.

    It has... The only thing you can do is call Adobe Activation (the number will appear in the activation window) and tell them the same. They will provide you with an activation code.

    It's difficult to guess what's going on based on so little information. However, you can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:

    After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

    My appologies.  It's been a while since ive used a support forum.  Im using Windows XP Pro SP 3. 3GHz P4, 512 RAM
    No, I can not see anything on the disc.  I cant even see the discs for that matter.  I have tried all three discs in both drives of my computer and it just shows the drive label.  When I double click, it says "please insert a disc in to drive."  But again, the discs work on othere computers, and other discs work in these drives.
    I guess I should also say that I have tried the Add/Remove programs.  On the CS2 Tryout I get the error stated in the original message.  When I try to uninstall CS3 I get a brief popup flash on my screen and then it disappears.  Nothing more happens.

    I started with SCCM 2012 RTM and attempted an upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2.  The upgrade failed and left the the system unusable.  I was able to recover the entire system (single server) from backup.  
    Rather than risk another failed upgrade can I simply build a new server and move the existing SCCM database to a new SCCM 2012 R2 system?

  • Can't activate Adobe Muse!

    I have tried everything now. Nothing works, I have a Muse Serial-Number but can't type it anywhere.
    Apparently I haven't got a Muse subscription.
    Everything is meant with, de-installing the entire Adobe Software including Acrobat Reader.
    Erasing opm.db and other related files.
    Then downloaded all software from the Adobe Licensing Website (LWS) where there is a link with a detailed manual how to activate my muse, but it's very confusing and couldn't do it successfully.

    Hi Colin,
    Let me simplify the process for you.
    As I see that you have already download and installed Adobe Muse. I would advise that you go ahead and set it up as Trial with your Adobe ID. You do not need to activate it with a Subscription.
    Once you have Muse trial working fine. Please follow the below steps to activate it with your serial number.
    Download Adobe Provisioning Toolkit for Mac from: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/developer/creativesuite/APTEE/Mac/Adobe_Provisioning_To olkit_6_2_ALL.dmg
    Extract the adobe_prtk tool from the downloaded dmg file and place it on the Desktop.
    Once done, open the Terminal window from /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.
    In the Terminal window type the below commands one after the other:
      cd ~/Desktop
      sudo adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --generate --serial=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx --leid=Muse-1.0-Mac-GM --provfilepath=~/
      sudo adobe_prtk --tool=VolumeSerialize --stream --provfile=~/prov.xml
    Take care of a few points when running the above commands:
    Do not omit the ~ (tilde) character in the paths.
    Do not give any additional spaces or omit any spaces.
    Replace the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx with your 24-digit serial number.
    When running the "sudo" statements, Terminal will prompt you for the password. Please enter your root password for the same. Please note you will not see the password. The cursor will not move. You will not get any feedback when you enter the password, until you hit return. So enter the correct password and it should proceed fine if the commands are correct.
    Let me know if you face any issues following the steps here.

    Thanks to everyone for the tips on my CS2 question. It turns out in the end it was some plug-in filter software that was causing the glitch, not a lack of an Adobe registration key. As for why he still uses CS2, it does the job for him, so that's all he needs.

    If you are using Premiere Elements 9 Mac, then the next thing to do is to get details on what you mean by "patch files".
    There are no "patch files" as you describe. There is a Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Update that needs to be used with the program. That you install and do not uninstall for best performance of the product.
    What I am wondering is this. Do you mean by patch files and the description that you give Scratch Files?
    If so, then you are looking at preview files and conformed audio and video files.
    I am strictly an Elements Windows person so you will have to help me translate my Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 Windows instructions into meaningful ones for you as it relates to file location.
    Under Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disk, where do you have Video Previews and Audio Previews directed. At that location, you should be able to delete these files. They are automatically generated when you render Timeline content. The consequence of deletion is that you will need to render again content in the project from which they came (if that project still exists). Go to the location shown and delete.
    Then look to see where the Media Cache is directed. Those are conformed audio and video files (cfa and pek). They can be deleted and will be regenerated by the program if and when needed. Go to the location shown and delete.
    Then look to Edit Menu/Preferences/Media and the Media Cache Database. That is targeting conformed video files (.mcdb file extension). They can be deleted and will be regenerated by the program if and when needed. You can click on the Clean button there to get rid of them instead of following the path to them as shown in the Media Cache Database area.
    Do not delete any source media that went into projects after they were saved closed.
    Please review the above and do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
