Can we Retract Navigational attributes??

Hi ,
I am retracting PS data from BI 7 to ECC6. Can you please tell me if it is possible to retract a navigational attribute which is not as part of the cube?
Thanks,
Srini.

You cant retract nav attribute.
However, you can try thru open hub.

  • Can we use Navigational attributes as Virtual Characteristics

    Hi,
I need to derive the virtual characteristic based on 2 infoobjects in the multiprovider. One of the infoobject is a navigational attribute. I am using the BADI approach to create the virtual characteristic. Can we use navigational attributes to pass values to derive the virtual Char or is there any limitation.
Basically can I use the below code to read navigational attr
    when <b>'0EMPLOYEE_0JOB'</b> OR '0PROFIT_CTR'.
              l_s_chanm-chanm = <chanm_used>.
              l_s_chanm-mode = rrke_c_mode-read.
              append l_s_chanm to c_t_chanm.
    Thanks,
    Kal

    Hi Kal,
I think you model a virtual KFig in the way you have suggested.I think the routine will work. Its looking similar populating  a field using read masterdata.I think it will work.

  • Can you include navigational attribute in export datasource

Can you include a navigational attribute in an export datasource?  If so, how.
    Thanks.
    Sandy

    hi sandy,
i don't think so. navigational attributes are not available. you need to understand that in case of an ODS object the export data source is generated out of the change log table, so if any field missing in the change log table it will not be part of the export data source.
In case of cubes the characteristics and key figures reflects in the export data source.
but why do you need navigational attributes in export data source ? it conflicts the nature of nav attributes as you will be storing the history statically with reference to the data when it was loaded. if you really want the same nav attributes in your subsequent data targets then include the characteristic which has the desired nav attributes in your target cube and map it from the export data source of the source info-provider. Switch on the nav attributes in the target info-providers.
    hope it helps

  • Navigation attribute in the Alert Monitor

    Hi All,
In the alert monitor in SAP APO the display table contains only characteristics and not the navigational attribute.
Is there any way through which we can display the navigational attribute also?
    Thanks,
    Diana

    Diana ,
This is how we handled it when we had a situation similar to yours. Since the navigational attribute was also a BW info object , we pulled the value for the navigational attribute to APO-BW  . We then put custom logic in the BAdI to pull data for the navigational attribute and display the same in the alert monitor.
Your ABAP team should be able to help you in putting the custom logic in the BAdI . To save the value to the info object you need to have an idea about APO-BW.

  • Navigational attribute Vs normal infoobject in Query

    Hi
I have  some infoobjects named ..1)ITEM....2)STATUS....3)SALES etc in cubes...
I have to design a query showing this data...the report should show Item Status also...I can use normal infoobject STATUS from infocube in report to show Item Status....I have one more possibilitySTATUS is added as navigational attribute of infoobject ITEM..So I can use this navigational attribute also..which one should I use normal infoobject STATUS or navigational attribute STATUS of infoobject ITEM to show item status in report?how to decide on this?
    Thanks for your guidance.

    Hi Hayward,
    Status as direct Object
When you use Status as an object added in cube you get the data of the day the cube was loaded. Let say for example your cube is loaded weekely on sundays, so the field status will give status as on sunday, even when it is run on other subsequent days of the week. So as correctly pointed in above posts values you get in status are not real time but historical.
Status as Navigational Attr of Item
When you use Status as Navigational attribute of Item then you get current data because in almost all cases Master Data Objects are loaded on daily basis and thus it picks the latetst Status of Items.
In case your cube is loaded daily then it won't make much difference that whether you are using it as a standalone object or as navigational attribute of Item.
    Hope it helped

  • Authorization on Navigation Attribute

    Hi experts,
i'm faced with a problem. I have a navigation attribute in my data model which is authorization relevant. The problem is that the basic characteristic is not authorization relevant. I am not able to make my setting in the analyse authorization as the basic characteristic is not authorization relevant. The basic characteristic is used in some other projects so that i am not allowed to make this characteristic an an authorization relevant one.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this problem?
    Thanks all in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Ali

You did not mention what BW version you are on.  This scenario is allowed in 7.0 Analysis Authorizations, but is not allowed in 3.x
In 7.x you can make any navigational attribute authorization relevant on the Attributes tab in RSD1, and the base characteristic does not have to be authorization relevant.
    What problems are you having?

  • Navigational Attributes are not shown in query

    Dear all,
I have a problem in a query. I need to present values using by using Navigational attribute in the query, the thing is that it does not recognize my navigational attribute. I have checked the characteristic in the Multiprovider and Infocube as navigational. And in the Multiprovider I have identified the navigational attribute from the right source.
What I think is strange is that I can see the navigational attribute when I see the data in infocube but not in the query. Does anyone knows what I might be doing wrong?
    Best Regards and many thanks,
    Mazzz

    Hi
plese try to find out the data for this fields through LISTCUBE,if you gets data here for that navigation attr then it has to appear in your query designer also.
and also once again check your idetification for the navigation attr in multi provider  whether its taken from write souce or not.and plese chk through your cube also for the navigatin.
in cube navigational attr has to mark then in the same way in the multi provider also

  • Navigation Attributes

    dear All,
Is there any thumb rule to decide whether a characteristic should be defined as an attribute/navigational attribute.
the reason is from a realignment point of view, navigational attributes can be easily realigned by just updating the master data. For plain attributes, we need to carry out the realignment.
Can i use navigational attributes in planning?
    regards,
    Kedar

    Hi Kedar,
You cant plan using navigational attributes. You can do one thing if you really want to plan using navigational attributes convert them to separate characteristics and can start planning.
Regarding realignment , you cant do realignment for attributes you need to convert them to characteristics in order to plan.
Please let me know if your question is answered. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Integrated Planning on Navigational Attribute

    Hello Experts ,
We are using BI 7.0 integrated planning.
We have a Report  that is input enabled on Service . Service info Object is a characteristics in the info provider and is in the rows area of the Report  . Input  enabled was fine .
But I would like to bring Service which is navigational attribute of Fund center ie 0funds_ctr-bservice  in the report(rows area) and want to plan against that service.
But when I bring this navigational attribute , now the query is not enabled for input . Do i have to any thing else in the Planning to make it input enabled .
    Any ideas please .
    Thanks

    Andrey, indu,
      Thanks for your reply.
    Andrey,
I have  put  navigational attribute(Service) in the rows area and restricted  with a variable . Still query is not enabled.
The query is not enabled as soon as i  select Fund center  in the Aggregation levels in IP.
If I remove(un check) fund center in the aggregation level , the query is input enabled .  But i  got to enable Fund center at  aggregation level so that I can bring in Navigational attribute(service) of func cener.
    Any ideas please .
    Thanks

  • Qn on navigational attributes

    Hello
I have added a navigational attribute to an infoobject, have loaded data in it, and can see the navigational attribute populated.
I have then added the navigational attribute in the cube. The cube is loaded by a DSO.
My qn is - do I need to turn the nav attr on in the DSO as well, and do i have to delete data in the cube and reload, or is loading the master data enough?
    Thanks
    Puja

    Hi,
Loading the master data is enough. Make sure that you turn on the nav attr in the cube though for the data to appear in the report.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Can i filter a report based on a value of a navigational attribute?

    Hi all,
i need to filter a report and the characteristic i need it's a navigational attribute that is already present in the infocube, can i use it as a filter or i need to add a new characteristic to the ic?
    thank you

    Hi
You can use navigational attributes to filter your report. When you switch on the navigational attributes at the cube level, the X table or Y table will be connected to the star schema of cube.
Navgational attributes behave like a characteristic in the report. You can create variables, filter etc on navgational attributes.
    Hope it helps.

  • Hi all can anyone let me know about navigational attributes?

    hi all,
Can anyone let me know the importance of navigational attributes with examples.
if docs pls email at [email protected]
    regds
    haritha

    HI haritha,
Navigational attribute is used for drilling down in the report. We don't need to maintain Navigational attribute in the cube as a characteristic (that is the advantage) to drill down
0MATERIAL has a Display attribute called MATGROUP and a Navigational attribute called MATTYPE.
If you want your report to show MATGROUP, you need to have 0MATERIAL in the query too. A Display attribute always 'tags' along with the 'parent' characteristic.
However you can include MATTYPE in your report without using 0MATERIAL. For reporting purposes a navigational attribute behaves just like another characteristic. This means that you can also have variables for navigational attributes.
One drawback is that since they are stored outside your Info Cube (in master data tables), the OLAP has to perform an extra step to pull in this data and this leads to some performance impact, although in most cases this is negligible.
When you double click on a cell in a report which contains a characteristic value, the report is filtered for this value and the entire characteristic column is removed from the results area. If you double click on material 1001, the material column goes away from the results and in the filter cells above the report, you can see value 1001 against Material.
If you double click on a key figure value, nothing
    happens.
If you double click on a Char column heading, the char is removed from the drill down.
If you double click on a key figure column heading, all key figures go away, and the values that are left are for the key figure you double clicked. Again you can verify this by looking at the filter cells against the key figure structure.

  • Can Navigational attributes be used to create aggregates ?

Can Navigational Attributes be used to create aggregates?

Ok. But I am following 'SAP BW  A step by step guide by Fu and Fu'  (refers 3.5 version of BW ) which states otherwise. Its using the following example.
    1. 3 infoobjects defined for Sales Rep, Sales Region, Sales Office.
    2. Sales Region and Sales Office are defined as navigational attributes. All 3 are under the same dimension
    3. Then its in the book that as Sales Region and Sales Office are hidden inside the Sales Rep Characteristic, we cannot build aggregates on Sales Region and Sales Office.
Is it something to do the way Cube is modelled. Or is just that Navigational Attributes can be used to build aggregates.

  • Navigational Attribute data is not display in Cube level and reporting

    Hello ALL
Iam facing a problem like,I created Navigational attribute and I selected that navigational attribute in cube level also but data is not display in cube level.
What will be the problem?Pl help me out.

    Hi Dinesh
You mean base characteristic means loading data after creating Navigational attribute? Is it this way,(orelse can u tell me about this base characterstic)
Yes after making that particular attribute as a navigational attribute I loaded data in master data tables.
How to run Attribute change run?can u give me steps

  • Navigational attribute in Cube

    Hi Gurus,
I want to understand one point before I am going to perform a small enhancement.
I need to set a navigational attribute in a cube(before it is not checked on "I/O") meaning make this navigational attribute behave as a char., but this cube contains data already, my question is :
can I make this change ? if yes any other additional effort?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ryan,
The attr needs to be marked and activated as Navigational Attr in the parent char first. Then you can mark it as nav attr in the cube (which contains the parent char). Does not matter if the cube contains data...you can do this activity in a cube with data. Remember to reactivate the cube's update rules and any multiproviders that it is a part of after you make this change.
    Hope this helps...
