Can WEBI Insert external files in report?

BO 6.5
can a Webi report be instructed to insert external files in the report layout, from .pdf or .doc files stored externally on the BO server Windows system? This will be static information, for eg a Cover Sheet.
Currently I am able to insert a small .jpg file in a cell to display the company graphics logo.
Would a similar approach work to insert a full page document? Maybe if I scanned and saved this document as .jpg? How about .pdf files? Has anyone tried this?

Avinash is simply saying that you can pull data from external data sources.
What you need is something that is NOT possible to achieve.
You want to embed external files and objects in WebI which is not in the scope of this product.
You can use Crystal Reports or upgrade to BI4.0 and create BI Workspaces

Attach it to the message. An attachment is an attachment -- if it is displayed or not by the recipient's e-mail client is not under your control.
You can zip it (compress it) before sending it; if it's text, you should zip it anyway; if it's JPEG, zipping will not reduce the size (in fact, it's even possible it may increase it slightly), but most e-mail clients do not display what's inside a zip archive.

Can you insert a file path in pages document

Is there any way of inserting a "file path" into a document in the new version of pages. You could do it in Pages 09 but I can't find any way of doing in the new
Version. I know the inference is you are using the cloud - therefore file paths are not needed - but a lot of us still store documents in various places ( especially in the work place).

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Export your Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx and trash/archive Pages 5.
Then rate/review Pages 5 in the App Store.

You can insert a photo but inserting a different type of document requires you have Acess to the app that contains the document.
If you are already preparing an email select everything in it and choose Copy. Then close the email and open the app that contains the document you want to share. Select the document, select Share and choose Mail. Once the Mail app come up with the document attached paste the stuff you copied from your draft.

Captivate can manipulate an external file?

We have a course finished and ready to start, except for the organization of the student info (name, lesson viewed, quizz result);
We create a Delphi Menu that load that external info, to liberate the exact lesson to the student;
Now, we need to, at the end of the lesson, that Captivate access an external file, so that we can input some data (that could be used as a variable in CP) to be read by the Delphi app.
Could CP help me with this?
I just realized that, to have the level of interaction that we want to our lessons (viewed locally, manipulating the students informations in a database, and so on), I will have to build a app container in a Flash AIR. I´m starting to study AS3, and AIR (lynda.com courses are a good start?) to create this, but we are in a hurry for this initial course, that is finished, but without seccurity and database control.
Any help will be apreciated.

I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.

Insert External File.

I'm creating a website just to learn coldfusion for a family
member.
I am trying to do something along the lines of whan i-frame
accomplishes, but without iframe. i want to directly link to the
file and insert it any where i want.
for example, i have a top menu that i want displayed on all
pages the same. i just want to add a simple line in the table of
every page that links to the file were the menu is stored.
hope that makes sense.
If i do have to go with i-frame, can you tell me how i can
adjust the iframe height to fit the window, so that the external
window will not have a scroll, only the i-frame will. (to avoid two
scroll bars. )

I have blob column in a table and i store text with some gif files there ...i made a report for that and i set the property of blob item like ..file format as "text" and containes html tags "yes" then i generate the report on html but when i see the on html i can see only text not any picture like .gif file ..
if any body have the solutuion to show .gif files with text then tell me ...

you say, you store text with gif images in a blob. the question would be, in what format. if you store HTML text there, the images are actually not stored in the document but only references to them. you might then check the src attributes of your IMG tags if they point to valid destinations.

We are having oracle reports 10g Rel 1, We have product drawings
stored as PDF File We wish to print this PDF Along with a report
i.e when generating Purchase Order of a item the stored drawing in PDF format should also be included in the report for all the items in that order.

Insert doc file into report

Hello all,
I want to insert a .doc file into a report, I generate finally a .pdf document.
I´ve tried two things:
1.- Insert an OLE2 object (word document), but it doesn´t work, it is reported in the document 74902.1. Reports reservates the space but doesn´t insert the document.
2.- Use a field "Link File", with a .doc documetn doesn´t work, the only option is to scan the text and insert as an image, but this is not a good option as I have to scan the file every time it changes and a .gif file is bigger than a .doc file.

Pl take a look at Note 166649.1 - it says -
LIST OF PROBLEMS/LIMITATIONS
1. Problem:
Client/Server mode using OLE2 to read in a MS Word document will work as long
as the output is sent to the previewer but will not work if DESTYPE is set to
file. That is, an OLE object embedded in the report will display as an empty
box or nothing at all when the report is generated to a PDF, HTML, or RTF file.
Solution:
This is because RTF, HTML and PDF formats do not support OLE.
The summary is that you cannot embed an OLE object into PDF, and I guess there is no workaround as well to embed the Word document "dynamically" into Oracle Reports PDF output.

I would like that on all pages of my keynote presentations the file name is inserted automatically in a footer as eg in EXCEL and Word.

I really need to use mp4 files in captivate 5 as the quality of these surpasses flv files. We do not have licences for Captivate 6 so can't use that. Any advice would help tremendously.

Hello Roz,
Only way is to convert them as FLV and use them. Can you convert them to FLV using Adobe Media Encoder? That usually retains the quality, there are many presets as well that you can use.
