Can wi fi be disabled for minor??

My 11 yr old son has saved money for a new ipod, now he wants the ipod touch, but I won't let him get it if it will give him internet access. He wants it for the large screen format mostly.
Advise??

You can disable WiFi in the preferences but it will still be accessable by the user. There is no way to turn off WiFi for a specific user. Since the iPod Touch is designed to be used as an internet ipod, you may want to point him towards one of the ipod classics. More room for music and videos on the classic and about the same price.

  • What can I do and disable for my previous cartridges with protection in a new replacement printer?

Hi, my previous printer 7610  wasn't in working and I had called the customers service to request a replacement and I just get my replacement printer 7612 yesterday . I would like to using back my previous cartridges whch still have 3/4 , what can I do right now to solve the previous protection for the cartridges? It's still new, somemore there are 4 slots with a rarely use. Should I call the customer service again to get a replacement for these?

Once the cartridges have been marked as "protected" they cannot be used in another printer.  I do not think there is any way to disable this once the cartridges have been marked.  I suggest you call HP and see if they can offer a replacement cartridge.

  • How can I remove a Disabled Extension not compatible with Firefox 4.0.1? I just want to remove it... I don't want to wait for a compatible update. Why can't I remove it?

When I upgraded from 3.XX to 4.0.1, it informed me that 2 extensions were not compatible and it never gave me the option to remove them. Firefox 4.0.1 disabled them and now I'm not able to remove them.
Also they were added by Acrobat Pro X (Adobe Acrobat - Create PDF 1.0) and Nokia Ovi Suite (Firefox Synchronisation Extension 7.3.4.51).
These extensions won't probably be updated unless they update the software that installed them. With this said, How can I remove the disabled extensions? Why it doesn't give me a button to remove them to start with?

I think it's not the problem of compatibility. Extensions installed into Windows registry won't have a remove button ( or it's greyed out ). For these extensions, you can have a look into these keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
If you are under a 64bit OS as I am, you may also try this key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\
And you may find the registry entries corresponding to the extensions you want to remove. Just export them to a backup.reg, then delete these entries. Firefox will do the rest, but it seems that fx still leaves extensions.rdf untouched. You can also delete the RDF entries corresponding to those extensions inside extensions.rdf
    cf: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons#Windows_Registry_extension
BUT the Wow6432Node key wasn't mentioned in the above article
I had to search the registry to find out the entry corresponding to a Fiddler2 extension, then I found the Wow6432Node key. I also saw the Nokia Ovi Suite entry beside the Fiddler2 entry.
    Hope it helps.

  • I can't open my iPad because I forgot my pass and now it's been disabled for about two weeks. How can I open it?

I've been busy with school, thus making me have no time at all to use my iPad. Being the forgetful me, I can't remember my password. I tried entering some of the passwords I used but none of them worked. I forgot the recent password I've been using in my iPad. Now it's been disabled for more than two weeks. I want to use it so badly that I have to reboot it numerous times. What should I do?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • My iPod Touch 4th gen is disabled for 22,000,000 minutes. I remember the passcode, and I can't restore.

My iPod Touch 4th gen is disabled for 22,000,000 minutes. I have looked all around the Apple support communities and I always find the same "solution", which is to put it into DFU or recovery mode and restore from a backup. Here's my problem: My computer crashed awhile back and I had to completely start over from scratch. So, unfortunately, a backup of my device no longer exists on this computer or any other computer.
Is there any way I can simply get rid of the disable? I remember my passcode, so that isn't a problem, all I need is to be able to input my passcode.
Or, do I absolutely have to restore to factory settings, and lose all my data?
By the way, I hope it does not matter, but I can't remember the IOS is was last updated with.
    Thanks.

  • I can't remember my passcode for my iphone4 and it disabled my phone. I also plugged it in to itunes and it says its locked. How do i fix this?

I can't remember my passcode for my Iphone and it is disabled. How can I fix this? I also plug phone into itunes and it says phone is locked due to wrong passcode.

Follow the instructions in the procedure above to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
