Can Wiki blogs be shared ? (Server v4)
Hello all,
I am trying to set up a Wiki blog, so that all logged-in users can leave their comments like in a newspaper's comment section.
Of course, it should be clear who left a comment and when.
The blog should read like that:

You can't modify the way it works. Like everything else in OS X Server, it's designed for simplicity, not flexibility. You would need a third-party solution. I don't have a specific recommendation.

.. Mind that this exact setup has worked flawlessly for at least 2 weeks, just begun doing it today... Only other thing going on is a massive insert operation, for wich i've had to add tablespaces to make room for... Using shared servers enables you to reduce the number of processes and the amount of memory consumed on the server machine. Shared servers are beneficial for systems where there are many OLTP users performing intermittent transactions.
Using shared servers rather than dedicated servers is also generally better for systems that have a high connection rate to the database. With shared servers, when a connect request is received, a dispatcher is already available to handle concurrent connection requests. With dedicated servers, on the other hand, a connection-specific dedicated server is sequentially initialized for each connection request.
Performance of certain database features can improve when a shared server architecture is used, and performance of certain database features can degrade slightly when a shared server architecture is used. For example, a session can be prevented from migrating to another shared server while parallel execution is active.
A session can remain nonmigratable even after a request from the client has been processed, because not all the user information has been stored in the UGA. If a server were to process the request from the client, then the part of the user state that was not stored in the UGA would be inaccessible. To avoid this, individual shared servers often need to remain bound to a user session.
Configuring the Number of Shared Servers
When using some features, you may need to configure more shared servers, because some servers might be bound to sessions for an excessive amount of time.

Media is not showing up on my wiki/blog server
I have recently setup a server running 10.5 and running Podcast Producer. I have created a wiki/blog page and created several groups. I have attempted to use Podcast Capture to post videos, files and presentations to the webpage but the files never show up on the page. I can find them in the Podcast folder on the server but they don't show up on the group webpage. What am I doing wrong? I have seen it done before, I'm just not sure what I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Trying to set up a WIKI/BLOG server and want to allow groups to access only certain WIKIs. (e.g. leadership group is only group that can see leadership WIKI, etc.)
I've dug around and can't find how to do it. Is there a way to do this? And if so, how?

In your group setup with Workgroup Manager (basic group panel) you select who can view and who can edit/create entries on the group's web site with the drop down selection menu in the middle of the page. Anyone will be able to see the list of groups hosted on your server if you use the dynamically created index page (the black background page). But if you select only group members to view the group wiki/blog, then an individual must log in and be a member of the group in order to see any of its pages. That includes any group service offered on the group web site.
By using the Directory.app you can enter more fine grained permissions for the group web site when you pull up the group entry and select who can view and edit/create by specific member within the group.

How many users can connect to a shared drive on a non-server workstation? We're waiting for our server to arrive and in the interum we're using a Pegasus 2 R6 attached to an iMac running Mavericks as our fileserver. It's been sketchy, the connection to the server being dropped once in a while or the inability to mount the drive after a week of success. The Pegasus we're using now will be attached to a server once it arrives. For now I need to figure what's coausing trouble before I commit to this being our main storage as planned. The data is backed up every night so I'm not worried, its the usability issues. 5-7 people are mounting this drive and opening/saving at the same time. Is there a limit to Maverick's fileserving ability that may be causing this? Understandable if so.
The file server in the client version of OS X has a default limit of 10 simultaneous connections. That limit can be raised by installing OS X Server, or lowered by setting a hidden preference. Assuming you've done neither, you may be able to solve the problem temporarily by stopping and restarting file sharing in the Sharing preference pane, or permanently by setting another hidden preference on the server to break idle connections quickly.
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool YES
Stop and restart file sharing. To reverse the change, run this command in the same way:
defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer idleDisconnectOnOff -bool NO

Mac using Acrobat Pro v9 can't connect to shared review hosted on Sharepoint server.
A person at our company has a Mac with Acrobat Pro v9 and can't connect to our shared review hosted on a Sharepoint server. The shared review is initiated from a PC using Acrobat Pro X.
They can access/login to the Sharepoint server via Safari on the same computer both inside the company and from outside.
They used to have it working just fine for months, then suddenly (recently) it stopped working and it just keeps saying that it can't connect.
When trying to connect, Acrobat doesn't ask for credentials. I've tried hunting down where those credentials are stored to try and delete them to force it to ask again, but no luck there either.
I also have a Mac (but I'm running Acrobat Pro XI and now DC) and I can access the same shared review that doesn't work for them. And I can't seem to break it for me (as an effort to figure out their problem).
Any helpful guidance on how to get things back on track would be greatly appreciated. My head hurts from beating it against my desk. :-|

On 10.9 - I can no longer open, copy or preview files on a shared server
I am on a 2007 iMAC and I connect to a shared server in our office. I just upgraded to 10.9 and am experiencing a number of problems:
- When trying to open files through finder I get the notification "Application not found"
- When trying to copy to/from server I get error mssages 43 or 8058
- Can't drag files into applications shown in dock
- Vectorworks 2010 not working at all
If I open an application and use File/Open and select files from the server they open fine, but I need to be able to use finder & preview...
I think the above issues might have something to do with permissions?
Please helpI've had the same issues. For me, trashing the permissions didn't resolve anything. The only work-around I've found is force quitting/relaunching the Finder. I have to do it every day, sometimes twice, but at least I can drag, copy and double click on files to launch an app.

This is what it looks like:If you have a networked printer, they sometimes have SD Card slots, USB thumbdrive slots, etc... and the printer offers to be a file server to share the contents of those removable camera storage devices.
It is possible your home WiFi router can also act as a printer server, or with a USB disk (or thumb drive) attached, a file server.
You could use a utility such as Bonjour Browser which will give you more information about the devices it sees on your home network

Probably. You may be able to use Finder > Go > Connect to server to access the server. You may be able to share folders using Remote Desktop too. Whichever one you like the best.

Yes, you can stop shared server. Simply decrease the shared server pool to zero. (see below for details)
No, you cannot stop a dedicated server as "The Thing" that creates dedicated server connections is the Listener. So you will need to stop that.

I can connect to a windows 2003 server through the VPN but I can't find the shared folder any where? I can see the Printers and fax machine through the web browser. I've only had my mac for a week but I really need to get to my work files!
I find it astonishing that you can see remote printers and fax machines through your web browser, but that's a different issue.
Even though you're on the VPN and connected to the office network, there is no support for auto-discovery over the VPN connection. In other words, the OS won't go out and look for available servers/shares in the VPN network.
In order to connect to remote shares you'll need to know the server and share name which you can then enter into the Finder's Go -> Connect to Server dialog in the form smb://server/sharename (assuming you're using SMB servers in the central office). -

Wiki/blog server relationship to blojsom (plugins ?)
Is there any relationship between the wiki/blog software and blojsom ? I've seen some comments about this on other forums but not sure if this is still the case.
I see a plugin folder in some of the wiki config folder and am wondering if it's possible to use blojsom plugins (with/without some modifications) ? Or if there are any plugins in the works ?There is no support for blojsom plugins in the Leopard Wiki/Weblog server.
Support for third party plugins is something we are looking into for the future but have no plans around yet. If that is something that is important to you, let us know through a bug report. -

anyone know the steps to share the embed LDAP to the wiki/blog server? the SSO steps of course meet the requirement, but all i haveto do is to setup the ENV to work with the demo custom apps for avoiding login twice. any input are appreciated.And i assumed wrong :)
You are not using the latest version of WebCenter. According to what i see, you are using webcenter 11.1.1.3 or earlier which does not use UCM as wiki and blog service.
So basicly all the links i provided in my previous post are useless for you.
To be honnest, configuring wiki and blog in pre PS3 environment is a real pain in the "you know what i mean".
The reason for this is that you will need to create a few keystores, configure SSO,... The instruction that explains how is very long and difficult and in the end, you end up with integrating iframes which is not nice...
That's why since PS3, webcenter uses UCM to store the wiki and blog services.
If it's for a demo application, why not use the latest version?

IPhone 3G - Can I open a shared calendar on my exchange server?
Active sync on the iPhone works great for contacts, email, my calendar, accepting/declining invitations, etc. I am not sure if it is possible or if I just don't know how to navigate the device to do this; can I open a shared calendar in my organization similar to how I can open someone else's calendar in Outlook on my desktop?
