Welcome to Apple Support Communities
MD387 is the Late 2012 Mac mini, which supports 64-bit Windows 7 and 8 versions through Boot Camp.
It's easy to install Windows in Boot Camp, always that you follow the steps > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf You will need a full or System Builder version of Windows 7 and 8.
Another option is to install Windows onto a virtual machine, using Parallels, VMware Fusion or VirtualBox. In this case, you can install the Windows version you want.
There are some differences between running Windows on Boot Camp and a virtual machine. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3321

  • I can't boot from OS install USB drive Mac Mini Model 1176

How I can't boot from OS install USB drive, Mac Mini Model 1176

Thank you Eustace Mendis for your answer.
I rebooted the Mac Mini holding the Option key down but it doesn't work. I used an USB drive with O.s 10.7 from Apple that I have used previuosly with other computers and I also tried with a CD install O.S 10.6
It seems that the Mac Mini can't recognize the keyboard inputs and I tried with 3 different keyboards but still didn't work.
I also reset the SMC and PRAM but I had no luck. Any clues?

  • Can windows home server be installed on a mac?

I tried this and got it to install. But no drivers. All I need is a network driver. Can anyone help? I'm using a mac mini. I have not tried bootcamp 3.0 yet.

Yes, Adobe Media Server can be installed on a windows virtual server.

  • Windows 7 will not install on new Mac Mini

Everything on the installation works flawlessly... from partitioning, to formatting NTFS, to choosing (x32 or x64) version *I've tried both*.... I get the options to choose date and time prefs, passwords, etc..... then on the final reboot to fire up Windows... it hangs with a blinking cursor in the left upper.... never finishes booting.
This is on the new Mac Mini with 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, NVidia 320M GPU.
I have been able to get XP to install correctly, but I'd prefer running Windows 7 for the ability to read the extra RAM.

Is this not the same like the black screen on the iMac?
With the iMac, we had to remove the ati drivers in order to continue. The steps I did with the iMac are as follows:
    35. Boot from the Win7 install DVD.
    36. Click Next
    37. Click Repair your Computer
    38. Select "Restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier
    39. Click Next
    40. Click Cancel
    41. Click Cancel
    42. Click Command Prompt
    43. > c:
    44. cd c:\windows\system32\drivers\
    45. del ati*
    46. Close the command prompt
    47. Click Restart
This time, Windows should successfully initialise a more appropriate display driver, allowing you into the desktop.

  • Can I install/run FCP 7 and/or adobe CS4/5/6 on apple mac mini MD388HN-A as it has INtel HD 4000 Graphics?

Can I install/run FCP 7 and/or adobe CS4/5/6 on apple mac mini MD388HN-A as it has INtel HD 4000 Graphics?

If you want to run Adobe apps, make sure you have the maximum RAM and plenty of available hard disk space. Given the typical internal drive sizes of the Mini, this would mean investing in one or two large external drives. Photoshop and InDesign only work well if there is a very large chunk of space available as a scratch disk. Some recommend dedicating a drive just for scratch space, if you are working with large, complex Photoshop files or large InDesign projects.

i can't register my apple mac mini bought by ebay

    Just what are you doing?
The Apple Product Registration website is closed.
If you’re trying to register an Apple product, chances are it’s already registered. Most Apple products can be registered when you turn them on for the first time and begin the setup process. Service and support for your Apple product are linked to its serial number, so it’s OK if you don’t register it. • Will I able to install Logic on Apple Mac Mini A1347 with this requirements:

    Hi,
Will Logic Pro 9 able to run smoothly on this system configuration:
    Apple Mac Mini A1347 <MC815RS / A> i5 2410M / 2 / 500 / WiFi / BT / MacOS X    ?
    Is 2048МB of RAM enough?
    Thank you in advance!

Thank you chorleyman! I just need a cheap platform for Logic to run, I'm not an advanced user, just to play for my soul. I'm usually using Windows based platforms, that's why I was confused about this particular model.
So if it looks good I think I will order this hardware next week.
If anyone have any more thoughts about the topic, please feel free to comment here! Thank you!

  • Windows 7 No bootable device (Win7 on usb, Mac mini md387)

    Hello.
I want to install Windows 7 to my Mac mini MD387 (2012). I don't have an external disk drive (dvd), but i have an usb-drive (Transcend 32GB).
I tried creating bootable usb using Boot Camp, Windows 7 (using cmd). But when mac mini restart I always get message "No bootable device...". And i can't install Win7.
    Can you help me?

this is in the bootcamp manual: restart and when the grey screen appears, start tapping your spacebar rapidly until it boots up. I know it sounds crazy but it works
    It doesn't work...

  • Can you use PC-1066 memory in 2011 Mac Mini?

I have a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro 15" with the standard 4Gb of PC-1066 and I'm looking into buying the 2011 Mac Mini base model.
Now, if I purchase 8Gb of PC-1066 for my MBP, is the Mini compatible with the PC-1066 memory? I know both the MBP and Mini use the same form factor memory, but the Mini takes PC-10600. With PCs, this sort of backwards compatibility is pretty standard but I'm still pretty new to Macs and I'm not sure how fickle they are.
Anyone know if you can use PC-1066 in place of PC-10600 in the Mac Mini?

Works physically, but the 1066MHz RAM is a lower speed than the 1333MHz RAM that 2011 Mini uses.
Personally I'd leave the MacBook as is and order the correct upgrade for the Mini.

  • Installing XP on mac mini without bootcamp

My apple mac mini was divided into three partitions (Macintosh, Vista and Linux) by my brother without using boot camp assistant (he used some other utility I think), and all these OSs work. Is it possible to install XP over the Vista partition, by inserting the XP CD and loading the XP setup from boot up and without using boot camp assistant?

Probably not. Try it and find out.

I am trying to use my Logitech 350 wired keyboard with my Apple Mac Mini. Is there any key that can function like the Apple Function or Apple Option keys? Also, how does one get the F1-12 keys to work and what do they do?

Welcome to HP support furums. Unfortunately Logitech and Apple are two other companies. Please check the following forum:

Will Windows 7 Builder Pac run on my Mac mini?

As long as it's 64-bit it should install OK, but you'd be in breach of the license agreement, a Windows System Builder Pack is licensed for system builders to include/install on a new system; a retailer is not supposed to sell System Builder Packs without the relevant hardware.

No. There is no "USB Target Disk Mode".
Just so we're clear, when you start your Mac mini in FireWire Target Disk Mode (TDM - holding T on startup), do you see a FireWire icon on the Mac mini's display? IIRC, it's not required that the Mac mini be connected to a display for TDM, but it would help diagnose whether or not the mini is actually starting in this mode.
