Can Windows 8 be installed on Mac OS X Leopard?

I'm tryina boot camp my Mac with Windows 8. I'm currently running on OS X Leopard. I seem to be repeatedly running into problems and most searches are just turning up that apparently Vista was the latest Windows type to run on Leopard. Is this really the case? Do I need to upgrade to Mountain Lion to get Windows 8 running?

Upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8, and remember that Windows 8 is unreleased so there is no support from Apple or Microsoft yet, Win 7 drivers may or may not work.

  • When I am re-installing the Mac OSX snow leopard onto an older Mac I run into the window that says select the disk where you want to install Mac OSX but nothing is there to select

I am trying to re-install the Mac OSX snow leopard onto an older I mac with a new hard drive.  I run into the "select the disk "where you want to install Mac OSX but there is nothing in the window to select. Any advice?

After you install a new hard drive, you need to boot to another drive to initialize it to MAC OS Extended (journaled) format and create the partition(s) on the drive. You do this using Disk Utility. Otherwise, the mac operating install process doesn't see a formatted disk to install to.

I wouldn't recommend installing through a network connection.
    For a Virtual Machine:
If you have the Win 7 media (DVD), use an app like PowerISO or MagicISO to make an ISO file of the install disc and use that.
    For BootCamp:
Use the original install media and BootCamp Assistant, to install from your DVD Drive.

  • Why does FlashPlayer not install in Mac OSX Snow Leopard?

I've downloaded FlashPlayer for Mac OS, and the entire install process is completed successfully. But I do not have FlashPlayer capability, and I cannot find FlashPlayer on my hard drive. I've downloaded all of the recent updates for Mac OSX Snow Leopard, have closed all programs, shut down and restarted--nothing works. After a supposedly "successful" installation, I don't have FlashPlayer. What's up?

ADE does not recognize Sony devices on the Mac.  You'll need to use the Sony software instead.

  • Can i download itunes 11 to mac os snow leopard

can I download iTunes 11 to mac os x snow leopard 10.6.3

    No.
You need at least OS X 10.6.8 to download iTunes 11.
... and I strongly recommend a later version (current is OS X 10.9.1) to help iTunes run more roubustly.

  • Do you have to get a full windows disc to install on mac or can you download the full windows with a product key?

Well I've been trying to find a full installment of Windows 7 32/64 bit Ultimate/Home Edition/Professional but I can't find a disc. So basically I'm asking can I just download Windows 7 from the internet with the product key or do I HAVE TO get a disc and install it through Bootcamp?

I don't know if you can legally download a full Windows 7 installer, but if you can find one, you just need to copy the image to a flash drive. See:

    and

Amazon has several different versions of Windows 7 available on disk, though. Have you tried them?

  • Download Mavericks on a Windows PC to Install on Mac later?

    Hi Everyone.
So I recently bought a new Imac (the one without the optical drive), but my OS is still Mountain Lion.
I want to upgrade it to Mavericks so that my Mac is up to date, but I have a problem...
Mavericks is over 5GB and I only have a cap of 3GB per month.
I can increase my cap if needed, but I want to find out if I can download Mavericks to a Windows PC (I use a windows PC at work and we have unlimited internet at work), and then install it later on my Imac at home?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Steve.
    Thank you for your advice.
I was also thinking that only the App Store can download it.
In regards to your comment regarding me using my work pc for personal gain. I admire your work ethic, but we have a company policy that states we are allowed to use the internet for personal use, including downloads. It must just not consume our working time, and as I can click to download something and go on with my work, there is nothing wrong with it at my company.
I guess I will increase my personal computer cap to download it directly to my Imac then.

  • Can Windows 7 be installed using the latest version of boot camp on 3TB fusion iMac drive?

I have tried unsuccessfully several times to install an .ISO version of 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 on my late 2012 iMac, equipped with a 3TB fusion drive. My proposed Windows partition, set up under boot camp assistant from the utility folder, is well under the 2.2TB size limit. I have carefully followed all the prescribed steps using the latest available software mounted on a FAT USB thumb drive.
The install fails, however. early on when Windows fails to recognize the requested partition situated in the fourth slot. I get an error message that the partition can't be found. ("Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.") I have picked the partition labled "BOOTCAMP."
After booting back on the Apple side, the disk utility shows the partition as being there formatted as a FAT install.
Apple has an update release with the 10.8.3 version of OS X that says this bug has been addressed and should now work.
I would greatly appreciate some help.

  • Can Windows 7 be installed on a G700-00131 (3-rd generation Intel i7 processor) ?

    Hi all,
Just bought a G7000-00131 which has Windows 8 installed.
In the shop they told me that W8 just has a different start-screen as W7, but after leaving this initial screen,
it would be exactly the same as W7.
    Well... no way !
I do not feel much like getting acquainted with the W8 philosophy, I like to start using my new Lenovo asap.
So I am thinking of installing W7 to replace W8.
Only, I heard that this could be a problem with a 3-rd generation Intel i7 processor.
    My G700-00131 has a 3-rd generation intel i7 3612QM processor.
Does any of you know ?
    Thanks in advance...
    Kind regards,

    hi Old-timer,
    Welcome to the Forums.
AFAIK, you won't have problems installing Win7 on a 3rd gen i7 processor but you will need to change some settings in the BIOS if it doesn't install Windows 7 install in UEFI Mode (see this guide).
To install Windows 7 in Legacy mode you will need to:
    1. Boot into the BIOS by tapping F2 on startup
    2. Set the following settings:
    Boot Tab:
    UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
UEFI Boot = Legacy First (if applicable)
    Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled (if applicable)
    Exit Tab:
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled (if applicable)
    3. After changing the settings, press F10 to save and exit BIOS and proceed to install Windows 7.
I recommend you make a clone / backup copy first of your system so you can re-install the OS just in case.
    Hope this helps

  • Can´t seem to install any update on Snow Leopard. Why?

    Hello everyone. First post here.
I tried searching the forum but I couldn´t seem to find someone with the exact same problem as me.
Yesterday I bought Snow Leopard and tried installing it on my 13" Macbook Pro. Everything went fine and it´s running ok, except from the fact that I can´t update it. Software update will ask me to install pack 10.6.2 but I click install and it doesn´t run.
I´ve tried downloading the 10.6.1 from apple.com and installing it but the same thing seems to happen. It doesn´t run. I´ve tried everything, including repairing disk permissions... It won´t install.
Does anyone have a clue of what I should do?
    Thank you.

    Hi!
I had the same problem with updating to 10.6.2 from Snow Leopard (brazilian custom language/keyboard). But instead of removing the file, I just changed to english setting, installed the update OK and returned to pt-br setting. Everything fine.
    Best regards!
