Can x-fi output 44100Hz PCM sound over spdif connectio
Can the x-fi platinum output 4400Hz PCM sound over the optical/coaxial connections? Or can it only do 48kHz and 96kHz?
Because if i play a flac file that is 4400Hz my yamaha rx-v700 receiver says its getting 48kHz.
When I play 48kHz my receiver says its getting 48kHz.
When I play 96kHz my receiver says its getting 96kHz.
So im wondering if the x-fi is limited to outputting only 48 or 96kHz over spdif connections.
Because I can see other sound cards like auzentech says this regarding spdif output for their cards: Supports 44. kHz / 48kHz / 96kHz S/PDIF Output through both Coaxial RCA and Optical Toslink

Soundtrack Pro doesn't work. When I open it, i can only hear a heartbeat ticking sound over and over again, then I get the spinning beach ball when I try playing a sound efx.
Update: I tried reinstalling firefox, same thing happened again. When i stopped the process "plugin-container for firefox", i could use parts of firefox (didn't get an error sound) for a while, until the process "plugin-container" startet again.

Can't hear output of external sound module connected with keyboard to logic
Hey all, I have two related questions about midi.
My setup is a macbook, with motu ultralight, and roland sh-32 synthesizer with an evolution mk-225c midi keyboard.
1- when i have recorded (successfully) a midi sequence into logic using the note enter functions of the synth (has no keyboard), I cannot hear the output of the synth (output is from motu-works fine with everything else)-unless I put phones through the output of the synth.When ido this i can hear the mdi sequence i recorded. If I use the keyboard on it's own, hooked up midi out (only) to midi in of motu, I can hear ALL internal (logic) software synths (es1 etc) can hear no problem.
I have tried routing the synth in-outs in audio/midi device selector, and added keyboard as well, to no avail.
2- when I try and record a midi sequence with the synth and use keyboard to play notes, I cannot hear output from logic. Noting that I can hear all output loops, internal synths, audio etc no prob otherwise. I assume I'm doing something wrong and this would be the case with any external synth drum machine etc. I'm banging my head against the wall!

1. You have to route the *audio outs* of your SH-32 into your Motu Ultralight and then select the appropriate inputs in Audio Midi Utility (Audio section). In Logic you have to *create an aux* in for those inputs.

Noting that I can hear all output loops, internal synths, audio etc no prob otherwise. I assume I'm doing something wrong and this would be the case with any external synth drum machine etc. I'm banging my head against the wall!
2.You have to connect the external synths to an audio in and route that as above.
...if I understand correctly that you play the Evo and want to hear the SH-32, thru Logic? You have to create an *external instrument* track that outputs Midi to the SH-32. The Evo must also be setup in AM-utility as a controller of course.

DV6753CA wont output 5.1 sound over HDMI
I'm trying to set my HP DV6753ca laptop up as my HTPC set.
- Windows 7
- Using WMC and the media browser plug-in
- latest shark007 codecs installed
I connect my laptop to my reciever via the HDMI port and change the audio device to HDMI output via the Realtek Audio Manager. The sound works but the problem is that my reciever is not recieving a 5.1 signal even though I no for certain that the file contains a 5.1 channel. If it's Dobly Digital 5.1 then my reciever uses Dolby ProLogic IIx. If its a DTS signal it uses Neo6. So what am I doing wrong?
I did a fresh install of Windows 7 on this laptop and downloaded all the drivers from Microsoft's update site. It installed the Realtek Audio manager driver.. is this the right one?So here is the thing, HP Notebooks do not have digital Audio Decoders on them...So you need movie application to give you will give you option of HDMI pass-thru, so that, laptop would transmit that Audio in digital format to the Recevier for it to decoder....HP mediasmart Movie Application does that, I dont remember if Quickplay has that option... You can try cyberlink Power DVD and check...

Can Final Cut output video captured in HDV?
Hi,
I recently shot and captured an upcoming project using sony HDV. I purchased the sony HVR-M15U HDV deck for video playback.
After connecting he deck using firewire (which sony is calling i-link) Final Cut greyed out my video playback options, external video automatically sets to off... It looks like final cut does have a HDV playback option but its greyed out on my screen.

If I understand correctly, SPDIF format can support uncompressed MULTICHANNEL wav format (within the limitations of its bandwidth) as well as the more usual DD or DTS encoded format on SPDIF.
One of the neat things about Creative's Audio Creation Mode in the Recorder section is the ability to actually record to a multi-wav format (but the sample size seems to be fixed at 24 bit). This means it is quite simple to have several mixer inputs and record a mixed multi-channel wav file in one go. Great and this works as expected with a 5. ?24 bit/48 kHz recorded test file.
My question is when one plays this recorded multi-channel wav file back, the mixer monitor (playback) shows the various 5. (say) channels with their separate content. Can this multi-channel *uncompressed* wav data? be sent over the SPDIF output as is to preserve the PCM quality? (so no DD or DTS encoding used)? I have tried this and I?ONLY seem to be able to get a STEREO (2 channel mixed down) version received at another SPDIF-in sound card (my Audigy 2ZS PCMCIA). I tried almost all selections at both ends involving SPDIF.@? In answer to my own question, and I think I had known this a while back, SPDIF standard only supports transmission of either 2 channel PCM (uncompressed) stereo with up to 24 bit resolution per channel and up to as much as 92 kHz sampling frequency, or compressed (DD or DTS) multichannel audio up to 5..
Since each frame of SPDF is 64 bits in length (with a single sample of L and R channels plus extra bits of status in each frame), at 92 kHz max sampling rate, this translates to about 3 Mbits/sec bit rate. However most SPDF don't support the 92 kHz rate (which for 24 bit would be the stereo rate for DVD-Audio) for various copyright protection reasons.

Here is what you can check to get your mike working in facetime:
1. Hold down option while you click on the speaker next to time a. date,
under input Device see if your mic is marked. If not: ✔️
2. Click the apple top left/System Prefs./click on the Sound speaker:
under Input highlight microphone.
3. When you have factime on go to video above scroll and see if your mic is marked ✔️
If that does not get it to work there is more you can check:
(Utilities/Audio, midi setup)
For any other audio device you do this for input and output.

Hopefully anyone recognises the following and would be so kind to help me. I have searched the forum and tried severall of the offered solutions mainly applicable to Vista, but still.
I hooked up my Qosmio G50 to my Philips LCD by HDMI cable. Picture is ok but there is no sound. I tested the cable with a Toshiba Satelite Pro L550 and it works allright. Picture and Sound are working. But that laptop has Intel HDMI audio.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I upgraded by Toshiba update DVD from Vista 64 bit. Sadly I do not know for sure if HDMI audio did work before that. I think so because I did use the laptop for watching a movie on a Panasonic plasma. But I can not remember if that was before or after the upgrade.
Realtek HD Audio device is installed driver version 6.0.1.5923
Realtek HDMI Output is selected als default playback device.
Testing gives me graphical response ( the indicator flashes ) but no audible sound from my tv.
Choosing the other audio device Realtek Digital output changes nothing and I do not believe that this would work anyway.
I have tried removing the device and reinstalling the original drivers. I have tried REaltek drivers from their website.
I have tried changing the view to HDMI only but that does nog change anything either.
One thing that worries me is that under Sound / Realtek HDMI Output / properties / Supported Formats there are no formats present. The Satelite gives me DTS audio and some other. So I am wondering if there should be formats present and if so how can I change this / add any.
Please forgive me if there are errors in the text. I am translating this from a dutch language version of Windows 7.

The solution for the G30 you mention is not the one for me I am sorry to say. I have tried that one allready. Windows automatically switches on the HDMI audio out when I connect an HDMI cable. Connecting the cable before switching on the TV and laptop is a good thing to try because it eliminates possible problems with the connection. The connection in my case is ok.
At some point I concluded that there must be a softwareproblem of some sort.
I have found the solution over night. Could not sleep anyway. I did not know that the videodrivers are also handling HDMI audio out but in a way it makes sense. I have completely deinstalled the NVIDIA video drivers. After downloading the latest drivers and installing them everything works absolutely fine! -
Qosmio F60-118: Internal Microphone sounds over the Speakers
Since a few weeks every time I accidentaly touch the internal microphone I can hear a scratchy sound over the built-in speakers. Though in the System Control is the microphone deactivated. Any ideas how to switch off the internal microphone are very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The Microphone has two main volumes.
The Recording Volume, which you can set high.
The Playback Volume (found in the Speaker output settings), which is the feedback you are hearing. You may mute this volume.
If you still hear feedback, Skype or another program may be taking control of the Mic Volume. -
SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 Digital - How do I enable PCM out over SPD

Digital soundcard. Recently I bought an AV receiver (Yamaha RX-V457) and I want to connect the soundcard's SPDIF out to the receiver coaxial digital input. I use a cable with an RCA connector at an end and a 3.5 mm mono conector at the other (this is specified in the online help). The problem is that at the receiver I only get a signal for pre-encoded (Dolby, DTS) content (ie watching a DVD movie) but nothing for the usual audio material (regular AVIs, mp3, whatever sound..). I'm not interested in multi channel output over the digital out, i just want the stereo decoded audio. I tried with another soundcard (another manufacturer) and everything's OK. The "PCM" light on my receiver lights up and i get an output for every sound played.Anybody has an idea on what is to be configured? I've checked every option i could find and still no result..0x!
yea, stick with the coax connection. Optical is better, but not by much.
Also, the toslink of course wouldn't fit the card. Theres 3 versions of connection:
Coax: Conventional way of connection.
Optical: Uses a toslink to transmit audio via light
Digital: uses a cord with an orange connector with 6 conducting bands in one plug -

Did you try using 'mute' in the System Preferences> Sound> output>
control panel? This usually will mute the startup sound; you may have
to try a few things to be sure only the startup will mute, not all sounds.
Of course, you could likely write an apple script in automator or in
text edit, that could automatically mute before shutdown and then
in startup items, have the script un-mute the audio for everything.
There are possibilities that do not include the command line; but
if you learn how to use that, without messing up other functions,
then even more custom control is possible in Mac OS X.
With that, you could write a substitute 'sound file' with white noise
or nothing in there; so instead of Bong, it'd be as quiet as a mouse.
PS: You may have a local reason why the site link posted above
does not work for you, but it does function and if the product is
free to use, and does not include adware or malware, here is an
untested download link from their site. (I can go there, easily.)

There may be a reason in your Mac OS X 10.9.x for gatekeeper
to not allow odd download installations, there is a way around
that feature, but I do not recommend using unknown software.

before i noticed these error messages happening in the background shell window of rdesktop, i tried to see if the problem was on the output itself, so i tried to play an mp3 to see if my amplifier was correctly pulling the signal from the arch box, and i couldnt play an mp3 either, but this may be related to smb:// errors. i will tackle that one later. finally i heard an error beep through my speakers which means archbox is outputting sound correctly, then i saw the error messages which is basically saying that something is tying up my audio device.
what could be tying it up?

after ending process of knotify the sound is back. so do i check into a problem with knotify? when i end the process, it does come back, so i wonder if the next time knotify has to output a sound this will happen again, or some condition unknown will cause it to happen again.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. -
Captivate 4 can't publish or preview files/sound layers appear black
After re-installing Captivate 4, I was unable to preview or publish files. Additionally, my sound layers appeared as black, empty layers.
I had a difficult time finding a solution, so I wanted to post it here in case somebody else has the same problem.
I was indicating in my searches that I was unable to publish or preview files in C4 and could not find a solution, then I switched the focus of my searches to the audio layers and that's when I found a solution at: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/adobe_captivate_4_installation.html
Now, I have to say this for anyone who may not be aware. You should always back up your registry anytime you make changes to it and that changes to the registry can cause problems. Having said that, here is the fix I used:.
Adobe Captivate 4 Installation Issues on Microsoft Windows XP
You can use SubInAcl tool from Microsoft to try fixing the permission issues in the Windows Registry.
Close all instances of Adobe Captivate and do the following steps -
1) Download the SubInAcl tool from Microsoft Download Center and install it.
2) Download this zip file
3) Extract the zip file in a temporary folder. You will get two files - restoreRegPermCP4.bat, restoreCP4regentries.bat
4) Copy the restoreRegPermCP4.bat to the folder which has SubInAcl.exe installed. Typically this would be at C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\.
5) Double click to run the restoreRegPermCP4.bat file.
6) Copy the restoreCP4regentries.bat to the folder in which Captivate 4 is installed. Typically it is at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 4
7) Open command prompt and navigate to that folder.
8) Type restoreCP4regentries.bat and press enter.
9) Make sure that all the messages that popup say "DllRegisterServer in 'some dll name' Succeeded"
This should have fixed the registry issues and things should work fine.
I hope this saves someone hours of searching for a solution.So glad it helped you! I know what you mean about Adobe.

Firefox crashes when I paste about:sessionrestore in the address bar.
