Can XML Forms be transported?

Hi,
I have created an XML form and need to transport it to my QA portal - is this possible? I cannot seem to find anywhere to add it to a transport package.

Hi ,
I think there is no mechanism to transport xml file like pcd transport. I hope you can do by copying files manually from installation directory and paste those xml forms in the installation directory of quality server.

Custom Actions in XML Forms Builder

Hello everyone,
We are starting a project to replace our current intranet with Enterprise Portal + KM + Collaboration. Our current intranet has many interactive foms developed as ASP pages for doing thinks like requesting new user ID's etc. These forms are attached to a workflow engine (Ultimus) where they trigger various workflow processes. I am exploring wherther or not these existing ASP based forms can be replaced by XML forms developed on the form builder.
Can XML forms be developed that trigger external actions like generatating a workflow? I have not found anything in the documentation so far that would indicate how this is accomplished?

Thank you Detlev, that is what Im looking for.
I knew that XML forms are primarily for document creation. I'm just trying to think 'out of the box' and find a way to convert all the ASP forms we have to a standard, portal-based format.
The forms I am reviewing are mostly simple pages that would basically validate and save the form data, then kick off a single workflow task. For existing forms, we will utilize URL iViews and link to the existing form.
For new forms, it sounds like we could probably make the XML forms builder work, but would probably be better off just creating basic .jsp or web dynpro pages to handle the data validation and external workflow submission. What do you think?

Transport of XML Forms

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. Now, if I want to move the XML forms from the Test system to my local instance of the portal, which is NW04 SPS 12, is it possible for me to do so? I have the same requirement, i.e I have to move xml forms from dev to quality, so I have followed the same as you said.
But I can't see a New form added under Folder> New>Forms menu
I have made the settings under Folder Setiing at System Configuration>Content Managemnt>Folder-based Publishing-->Folder Settings
Please advise me how to resolve it.

How can i convert the HTML information in XML form to a PDF?

Hi does any body know how can i convert the content of an HTML field in a XML Form in a regular text to include in a PDF in a Java program?

Hi ,
On the tool bar you have an option "Browser" which is next to "HTML Editor" .
You know that for using these elements wo have to map them with Data Schema.
Step by step
1. In data Model Under Data Schema Add a child and name it Read_More.
2. In the left hand corner ,click on tab Type and from the drop down select "rid"
3.Click on the "Browser" from the toolbar (as told earlier) and drag and drop it on the form.
4. Drag the Data schema which u have made(Read_more) and drop it on the browser on form. On right hand side u will se the mapping done.
5.Click on the "Browser" which is there in the form and on the right hand side of the form u will see the property window.
6.In property window change the value of action property to "Item Entry point"
7. Repeat step 3 and 4 in Render and show form but using "label" nad not browser.
Do not forget to add Save button in Edit Form.
This will solve your problem.

How can you update the content of a textfield in a dynamic xml form from MSAccess and VBA

I am trying to use the code below to update a field in a dynamic xml form created by Livecycle.
I can read the field content but cannot change it.
What am I missing?

You need to research the difference between an AcroForm and an XFA form. You're trying to access a "Field" object, which is an AcroForm object. An XFA form does not have fields, it has nodes. The JavaScript you are using is specific to AcroForms and you are working with an XFA form.

How can I open XML form in the Adobe reader, but not through the browser extention

I am saving the document as Adobe Dynamic XML Form (useing Adobe LiveCycle Designer), When I open the document I get this error and I do have a Adobe reader installer.

Can I include a Dynamic HTML Table into XML Forms?

I have a requirement For XML Forms that I don´t know if possible, the requirement is that I can let the user create a HTML Table in a template generated by XML Forms, so he can include in the Content a HTML Table that is displayed with the elements he decided.

Hi,
To Create HTML Tables in the XML Forms, use the HTML Editor from the Menu and Function bar. When the form is generated then tables can be created using this editor.

XML Forms show raw xml after transport

Hallo experts,
at the moment I am working to set up a SAP Enterprise Portal 7.4. I was able to export KM content from our old 7.0 portal.
The only problem i am experiencing is that xml forms, that I exported and imported through standard KM export / import, are showing as raw xml.
The forms are available in forms builder and I also generated a preview (compiled the form) for each form and saved after that.
There are no errors in the log that point me in a direction, so please help.
Do you have any ideas what I am missing?

You can preset a search filter via the relevant Search Option Set.

How can i exclude information pages from being printed in a dynamic XML form?

Hi there,
i am building a dynamic XML form in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2.
In this form there are pages with information that help the end user fill out the form, but to use - those who process the forms after they have been sent to us - these pages with information are irrelevant.
Is there a way to tell the form to omit these pages when printing.
Currently i have set the pages mentioned to be only visable on-screen. But doing so results in an empty page being printed (only the master page information is visable.)
Any ideas how i can solve this issue?

Create a new master page and set that page to visible screen only. Set your subforms to use that master.

Transport Custom XML Forms

Hi All
I have custom forms developed in dev system and are working well there, I need to move those forms from dev to quality, so I have copied and pasted them using webdav URL (through file explorer manually place them to physical location)
But I can't see a New form added under Folder> New>Forms menu
I have made the settings under Folder Setiing at System Configuration>Content Managemnt>Folder-based Publishing-->Folder Settings with priority as 10.
Is there any system restart need to be performed after new forms tranported
Please advise me how to resolve it.

Yes, I have given the path to the folder.
Can you pelase tell me Is there any thing missed in my approach which I follwed as below.
1. Copied the content from dev system from this location *etc/xmlformst/NewXMLFormsLocation* (where XML forms located) using webdav url.
2. Pasted the content in quality system at this location *etc/xmlforms/*
3. At Forms Availability -- > folder settings
                         set the parameters as
Id : NewXMLFormsLocation
                                           Priority: 10
                                           Folder Path: /documents/customNews/**
                                           Forms to Exclude: (left blank)
                                           Forms to Include: NewXMLFormsLocation
After I did this configuration, I don't see any new form has come in Folder>New>Forms menu.
But, I tried by replacing the Forms to Include value with existing SponsoredLinks, then I could see the result in Forms menu.
Where is it going wrong when I try with NewXMLFormsLocation

How can I manipulate structure tags in LiveCycle XML form

Have a form that was created in LiveCycle by another company.
Need to make it a flat, tagged, PDF, i.e., to look like the form but not have actual fields.
It has structure tags, but they're not acceptable, and in Acrobat I'm unable to manipulate them.
When I go to LiveCycle and look at PDF Structure tags, it just has this message: "PDF Structure can only be used in PDF forms that contain artwork."
When I try to optimize the form fields away in Acrobat, it says "This PDF document contains an Adobe XML form. Such files cannot be optimized"
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Had to keep moving with this, hopefully someone will come up with a better solution, here's how I got a flat PDF: saved the form as encapsulated postscript, then in Windows Explorer right-clicked on the *.eps files and converted to PDF ... had to delete the useless tags that were created during that process, retagging manually ... but it's giving me what I need. I was surprised at no loss of resolution, and all the text is taggable.

The info it's on my brain, jejeje, I have some experience with XML Forms. I really don't think you can attach (by standard/default) anything to an xml form, everything is a refence (even images).
XML Forms generates xml files, witch are rendered thru layouts and the configuration you set in the RenderList and Show forms.
Unless you find some kind of deployment that unifies the xml document with the file you want you will have to work with the references (link).

Hi , I need to transport my XML project only one time to another sytem. What do i do ?? I do not want to setup and use ICE stuffs.... any ideas out there. is there some post processing stuff?

You can do one thing.
You can create a KM Navigation iview and set the property 'path to document' as /ice
and assign this iview to page to workse to role. Assign this role to users/groups.
This way you can export the KM content.
For import/package upload.
Check that Cotent management ->package upload iview in pcd content and duplicate that iview and assign that also to the same role.
This way you can do the KM transport.

Hi,
In KM folder "/etc/xmlforms" you will find a folder with the same name as your XML Forms Builder's project.
There are *.xml and *.xsl files for each of defined views (Edit, Show, RenderListItem) in this folder.
You may modify any of these files, the changes will have affect immediately after new version of file is uploaded.
But remember DO NOT USE "Generate project" button of XML Forms Builder anymore, otherwise your changes will be discarded.
The simplest way to develop and debug .xsl files is to connect "/etc/xmlforms/your_project" folder by Portal drive and copy xsl files from local computer directly to the KM.
