Can you attach a sound to the video for editing?

In iMovie 9 If you detach the audio from one clip and move it to another, can you somehow lock it into place so that when you split video and clip parts, the sound gets clipped as well?

The headphone jack in the iPhone is a 2 way connector. It outputs audio to your Earphones, but can take input from a mic, lik the one embedded in the Earpods, or other wired hands free devices.
Basically what you may want to do is get something like this:

You may very well be able to just plug a mic with a 3mm plug into the headphone jack also. But not sure if that would completely work.

Ive got Logic, I've got M-Audio Fast Track Pro, into which i have my mic, guitar, and keyboard midi plaugged into. I can use it to record the mic and guitar on photobooth as they are audio inputs, however i can't use the midi sounds on the keyboard :/ I have tried having logic open with the desired MIDI sound selected whilst recording but it doesnt work...
Is there ANY way this is possible?

Yes. Import them into your iTunes music library and then sync them over to your iPod just as you would with music tracks.

Can you add a skin to the video object?

In as3, I've created my own video object to play an flv file. The code starts out something like this:

I would like to attach a .swf skin for it but cannot find any examples on how to do it. All examples are instructions for adding code to a instance of the FLVPlayback object.
My question is can you only attach skins to the FLVPlayback object?

To save time, I wanted to use the pre-built skins that are used for the FLV components. I guess to use those skins you need to use the FLV class and if you wanted create your own buttons you would use the generic Video object.

Can you use surround sound with the built-in optical out on dual 1.8 g5?

Ok here's the thing, I just got the new version of Final Cut Studio, and was wanting to set up my g5 to utilize the surround mixing capabilities of SoundTrack Pro 2.
I have verified that i'm getting 5.1 sound via Apple's DVD Player, but when i go to Applications-> Utilities->Audio MIDI Setup, I cannot configure the system for multiple channels. It only allows me to output stereo.
Is my assumption of being able to use the built-in optical out for 5.1 monitoring incorrect? Do I have to go buy a firewire/usb audio interface?

Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
The Mac puts out encoded 5.1. It is the function of the amplifier, receiver or decoder to take that signal and turn it into something useful. At minimum you will need a device that can accept that output and turn it into something useful.
Most studios that I am familiar with want to be able to use their own 5.1 decoder, amp and speakers. Juicier sound!

There are a number of apps in the store for voice recording. Time is limited by available memory. Some let you take notes while it records in the background. One caution, you are limited to the mic in the pad, so the sound from the back of a classroom may be problematic. Go to an apple store, and get them to demo a recording app so you can hear how well it would work for you.

When adding a PDF file to a New Message in Mail it does not show up as an icon link, the entire document appears. How can you attach a PDF without the entire document displaying itself?

When I closde a page where there has been a video, ie youtube or the like, the sound from that video that had played will continuw to run. I can close Firefox and upload it again and still will the sound of the video continuew to run. WHY?

When I close a youtube video or some other video and even after closing the tab the sound from the video continue to be played. As a matter of fact I have even closed Firefox and re-started Firefox and it plays again. I even went and turned off the computer and re-started the computer and then Firexox and the video sound was still there playing. WHY is this happening???.

Most YouTube content requires the Flash plugin. Sometimes it's necessary to uninstall then reinstall that plugin.
Uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed plugin first.
Now launch Safari and try a video.
If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
You may also need to delete the cache associated with Safari .
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go the move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a video.

One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

I'm trying to decide how to configure the new iMac I am going to buy. Can you attach an external HD to an iMac with a fusion drive? I'm assuming it would be fine, but since the fusion drive is new, I don't want a nasty surprise. Some of the new Mac Minis now have fusion drives, so has anyone added an external drive to it?

It depends on the clips' content, their current format, and how much you would need to compress them, but in most cases and with most email systems, it's difficult to impossible to compress a clip enough to be able to get it through the attachment size limits of most email providers and still have the video be comprehensible. You'll probably need to find a web site or other method where you could post the videos for download by the students.
You can try compression and trimming, though, and see if you can get the video small enough to email. An attachment often has to be 3MB or less to go through, though it depends entirely on the email systems on both ends. If you look to the right under "more like this" you'll find similar threads on the subject.

Like most of the people that post here,i have a problem.To put video in my iPod i click "convert selection for iPod", and i synch my ipod after that.But the problem is that i have those video in my ipod but i can't hear the sound of the videos,even if i put it louder.So is there someone who can fix my problem?

iTunes uses quicktime services.
Quicktime does not like muxed files(audio/video are one track).
So when you convert, iTunes/quicktime only sees the video track and converts it.
You will need to find a different piece of software to convert the files.
