Can you begin playing a video before it's fully downloaded?

Subject pretty much asks it all - I'm downloading an episode of Lost and it's taking quite a while (looks like it's going to be around 200Mb+).
Just thought that I should be able to begin playing it while it's continuing to download but all I get is a gray square with no sound. Do I have to fully download it prior to beginning to play it? This is my first downloaded video or music file in iTunes.

I changed some settings in QuickTime:
- enabled Instant On
- decreased the "play" to 3 notches up from "instantly"
- changed the streaming speed to 1Mb/s Cable from "automatic"
This seems to have sped things up quite a bit for downloading trailers and I bet it will solve this problem as well. Thanks again!

Yes you can. If you purchase a movie from the iTunes Store you can watch it as soon as it has enough buffer to start, normally just takes a few minutes.

Trimming=Delete.
When you trim the video, you’re trimming the original file, and any frames you delete from the video are gone forever. So you should make sure you really want to make cuts before you do so, or at least, back up your videos to your computer first. Sounds like you have no backup(which is done as the first part of a sync) before you trimmed. Thus, the footage is gone.

It sounds like you to 5 separate videos. If you start recording, then stop it, then start it again, you will have 2 videos. Not 1. As for splicing them together, you will need a video editing package for your PC. I don't know if Windows Movie Maker (or whatever they're calling it now) can handle this or not. On a Mac, I'd say just use iMovie.

Easiest way is to create a 480 project; copy the t080 timeline and paste it into the 480 project. It will be letterboxed because of the different aspect ratios. If you don;t want letterboxing, use transform>scale to fill the screen or spatial conform – in the Inspector. (I prefer transform, because with scale and position I have more control over framing.)

QuickTime X can record the screen (but only all of it and not just a window). It's a part of Snow Leopard.

You cannot watch just any type of media file with realplayer on the 9300/9300i/9500 communicators, video files have to be converted to the 3gp format, there are a number of converter software packages on the net - may of which are free. Try also Nokia's own multimedia converter, downloadeable from Nokia, cheers.
