Can you buy a 3G iPad and not activate?

Just curious if you can get one without activating. If I find a 3G before I find a WiFi only I may just buy it, but I don't need the 3G.

I have an AT&T 3G iPad2. I called them for instructions on how to initialize 3G later then how to turn it on and off. If you skip turning on 3G as first (I did), then you go to Settings>Cellular Data>View Account>Registration. After you register it you can control, within limits, when you are being charged. The default set up is to automatically renew your contract each month. To turn that off and have manual control month to month you go to Settings>Cellular Data>Account Overview>Cancel iPad Services> Cancel Later. This last "Cancel Later" actually turns off the automatic renew each month. Then you can decide if you want it each month. Once you turn it on for a month you get a full month's bill even if you use it only one day.
I don't know if or how this would work for Verison.

According to one source, only the US AT&T version can be used with SIMS from carriers in other countries. But you can get one that is universally compatible if ordered from Apple as 4G with no carrier specified.
Perhaps someone with a more reliable source can shed light on this. Or you can contact Apple directly!

iPads are not carrier locked. All new iPads 3G/4G have sim slots and will work with foreign sims. Wifi-only iPads do not have sim slots, for obvious reasons, no 3G or 4G capability.

Make sure your black phone is using the same or higher version of iOS as your white one, and that it is signed into the same iCloud account.

I was wondering what kind of cool things can be done between the macbook pro and the ipad mini. For example syncing and other ways of communication between the two devices.

How to sync
Enable "Find my iPad" in Settings > iCloud. Put your name on the back. Losing it is not cool.
Make it easy for someone to find you when you misplace it:
Tape a business card to the back.
If that is inelegant then make a pretty label with a phone number so that when you lose it, there is the possibility you can be reunited with it and perhaps meet someone nice as well.
Enable "Find my iPad" in Settings > iCloud. This enables you to send a message or play a loud noise should you misplace it.
Disable "in-app purchases" in Settings > General > Restrictions. This prevents unauthorized or unintentional purchases, some of which are expensive. You will need a password. Don't forget your password.
Sync it to a computer running iTunes. Back up the computer because the iPad is not a backup. If it's a Windows computer, have several backups. Windows computers die with predictable regularity for a number of reasons. Your iPad is synced to one and only one computer at a time, so if its mate is lost then its content will be erased when you replace your computer. Extracting content from your iPad is not trivial and not free.
The Remote app enables you to control your MacBook's iTunes library remotely, along with an AirPort Express, you have a remote control for your stereo.

Can you install the new Bootcamp and NOT install 10.5?

I have a laptop that I use to do page layout. It took FOREVER to get my print output settings in quark, photoshop, etc just right.
I am currently running the old bootcamp beta. I need to install the new version of bootcamp and its drivers so I can run updates to my Windows partition. I DONT want to install OSX 10.5. Can I install bootcamp and not install 10.5 or am I stuck?

The only way that I know to get the boot camp 2.0 drivers is from the Leopard Installation Disk. You indicated that you want to keep Tiger installed. You also indicated that you have the beta version of boot camp already running. You are in a good situation to update to 2.0 boot camp drivers.
The catch? You will still need the Leopard Installation Disk as you will need to insert that while booted in Windows to start and finish the update process. All of the necessary drivers are on the Leopard CD.
I have a Leopard Installation disk, then simply boot into Windows and get to the Windows desktop. Insert the Leopard installation disk and it will begin updating the drivers. You can leave the Tiger partition as is.

My macbook is filling up fast with Photos from our travels. I would like to keep some albums on my iPad but delete them off the Macbook so i can free up memory.

You don't have to set anything, Photo Manager Pro doesn't require you to keep the photos on your Mac, it doesn't have the same link as the Photos app does - the only time that it needs to be on your Mac is when you are copying the photo from there to your iPad, after it's in Photo Manager Pro it doesn't expect or need it to stay there.

With Adobe Dynamic Link do you have to buy a suite to be able to use it or can you buy just After Effects and Premiere?

The company I work for has me on Sony Vegas and After Effects right now. I am working on getting over to Premiere. On my personal computer I bought the suite and I have Adobe Dynamic Link and love it. My questions is since they purchased After Effects already would Adobe Dynamic Link work if they just bought Premiere.

That is not correct. We are still selling CS6 software for quite some time. Where did you see an indication otherwise?
Regarding Dynamic Link: In the current versions of the applications, no suite is required. For example, if you have the single-application subscriptions for both Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC, Dynamic Link works between them. Dynamic Link is still limited to working between applications that share the same major version (i.e., CS6 with CS6, CC with CC, and so on).

Not likely...you will probably do better selling the iPod on something like eBay or Craigslist, take the money and add what you need to by the iPad.

No, the internal capacity is fixed. There are some wifi-enabled external drives that allow you to stream music, films etc to an iPad, but you can't change the size of the built-in storage.

I am very happy to report that my server connection tech, which I called via landline, informed me to : 1. Open Tools 2. Scan down to Clear Recent History 3. Delete All. That was it! Unbelievable! Six hours of searching through the Windows catagories. I checked the results on an internet site, and viola! It was gone! Mozilla Firefox seems to remember the usernames and passwords irregardless of the option window that asks if you if want it to remember the user and password. I finally got in touch with my friend and he said he did not answer yes to the window, even though he was aware of it. No damage. I surely do appreciate everyones' concern in this, now what seems to be, a very simple solution. Cudos to Firefox! Thank-you! P.S. I now have to enter my information at the beginning of any password protected sites...no harm done! My friend is now condemned to the 'user account' site! lol...

You can if you do not live in Florida, apparently. I called this morning to add AppleCare+ and after giving my info (explaining that the Apple Store is 50 miles (at least) from me, I was going strong until she realized that I live in Florida.
