Can you bypass the window that asks if you want to open or save attachments? I always open them the same way.
I would like to be able to turn off the window that asks me if I want to Open this file or Save it. I get many attachments from the same place and I would like to be able to bypass this window, as I always do the same thing -- open it.
Deleted it, restarted it. tried it again. no change. repeated the whole cycle. no change. thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling, but that won't reallyk change the settings.

When I receive an attached document (Word or OpenOffice), I click on it. I get a Norton Antivirus window that says it's clear and I click on the yellow Download button. Then nothing happens. 1. I don't get the windows that asked Open? or Save?. 2. The documents are not in the Download folder. 3. I reset the downloads to my Documents folder - nothing appears there either. 4. Window that asks if I want to leave page
Quite frequently while surfing on the web and I go to leave the page I'm on I get this pesky little window that asks me if I'm sure I want to leave this page. How can I keep this thing from popping up because in most cases I have to click on this thine 50 times before I'm able to leave the page. It's very, very annoying.
You can try a bookmarklet like this:

JavaScript code can't be run from the location bar anymore, so you need to create a bookmark with the code pasted in the location field.

Is the pop up window that asks if you want your Mac cleaned up really from Apple?
We have been receiving a lot of pop up windows whenever using our new Mac and it always asks if we want to clean up our Mac and then the box says "Continue". I am very suspecious of this and cannot find out if it is for real and don't want to select it to see what happens. Can anyone help give info on this? From looking at other discussions, apparently others are also receiving this. Thank you, Noel

OS X has got its own maintenance scripts to keep your computer work correctly, so there's no need for cleaning apps.
To get rid of those messages, remove all the temporary files from Safari. Open Safari, go to Safari menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Privacy, and choose Remove All Private Data -

When I log on to Firefox, I get this block that pops up saying, "Do you use the Yahoo! Toolbar on multiple computers? It has 2 buttons asking "Save to my Yahoo! ID or No thanks, just save to this computer" It drops down from the Yahoo toolbar, next to the Y! on the left side of the tool bar. I have tried the Save button and no response, I tried the No thanks button no response. I tried the underlined "Learn more" and it too no response. I tried the close X but that does not get rid of this box. I tried right clicking and no response. It stays there through out while working on the mail, I cannot access the that toolbar so I cannot use the buttons on this tool bar. Please help or I will have to try another browser to see if it go away.

Aside from not being able to progress past the question of sharing info with Apple - I've also noticed that the remote does not function when I presss the "select" button - only when I press the "menu" button can I acknowledge a question or a step in the setup proccess. Help!

How do I record music from a music cd to my MacBook Pro? Up until this morning I would get a pop up window that asked if I wanted to play or record the disc I just put in. That screen no longer appears - a disk starts to play. I can stop the auto play but how do I add the music to my existing music collection?
ThanksDo you mean "how do you rip a CD to iTunes?" If so, just insert the CD into the optical drive of the MBP, launch iTunes, edit the ID3 tags to show what you want, then click the "import" button in the lower right corner of the window.

How do I go back to the window that will allow me to enter my password. I have tried switching off the device, but each time the 'upgrading' comes on. when i close the browser it ask whether you want quit or save and quit , when i selet save and quit none of te pages are saved, or if saved where can i find them?
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox.

OK, I'll take you through what happens. When I click download firefox 4 I get a pop up window that asks "what should Firefox do with this file?"
Below I have two choices:
_Open with (choose)
_Save File
So I go to choose and pick an application.
So I choose Acrobate Reader 5.0. Acrobate gives me a popup that says "Acrobat could not open firefox 4.0-4.dmg because it is either not a supported file type or because the fire has been corrupted....
So I try download again (I should point out that I am currently running Firefox 3.6.16) The popup that asks me to choose a file to open firefox 4.0.dmg pops up again.
So I choose Adobe Reader 9. Nothing happens. So I cancel.
So what application should I go to to open Firefox 4.0.dmgsee also these pages and threads about Fast Browser Search (FBSMTWB in the user agent).

I updated my first generation iPad to version 5.1.1 and won't go past the setup screen that asks if I want to use the iPad locator. I can go back but can't get any further
I just updated my original iPad 32 GB WiFi to iOS 5.1 about fifteen minutes ago. But I did it with the system restore feature in iTunes. So it wiped out everything on my iPad. But it did work. Then I restored an earlier backup and all went fine. Maybe you could try backing up your iPad and then using Restore to get it back to factory settings to see what happens.
