Can you change the units used for size and position in layout editor?

Hello,
In Aperture 3.4, does anyone know if you can change the units used for size and position in layout editor? The page is set in inches, but the image size and position are given in centimetres and I would prefer to work all in inches to create custom layouts. I can't see any way to change this. If anyone knows how it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Aperture uses the unit settings defined in the System Preferences. Set the "Measurement Units" in the "Region" tab of the "Language & Text" preferences to "US"; the Aperture will display the Size & Position in inches, if it is the "Book" layout manager you are asking about.

Can you change the order of both, custom and predefined labels within Contacts for Yosemite & iOS 8?

I have a ton of custom labeled and predefined fields for many of my contacts within the Contacts app; often the order in which those fields are displayed, need to be rearranged.
For example, when viewing a specific contact's information, I may want their home number to show up before their cell number, or I may a custom label to show up before their work number, etc.
I looked for options in the Contacts app from Yosemite, iOS 8, and iCloud.com with no resolve. The only solution I found is inefficient, and tedious; it involves deleting all the fields for a specific contact, and then re-inputing all the information in the order that I enter them in.
Does anyone know an easier way to do this? Is there a third party iOS or Yosemite App.

I have created an Azure Website, and have regisetered the correct Domain Name details for the site. What i want to understand is can i do the same for the FTP address via Azure?
Rather than use the default ftp://waws-XXX-XXX.ftp.azurewebsites.windows.net/ i want to change to be FTP.<Domain Name>.comi do not see the option to do this via Azure?
would i have to create a CNAME on my domain registrar to deal with this instead?

if you can ftp to domainname.ext and instead you want to ftp to FTP.domainname.ext then yes you need dns map

I'm having difficulty changing the photo that is automatically selected as the thumbnail on an iPad Air and iPad Mini. How can I change this, and what parameter governs which photo is selected?
There are a number of threads about changing the name, the creation date, the modified date, and none of those have worked for me. After changing these various parameters, I have unsynced and resynced photos, and at this point, it is becoming an obsession of mine to change this. :-)

Okay, now it is working. I had to save the XLSX-file into the older XLS format, but that seems to work quite well.

Can you change the export resolution for photos published to Facebook?

Hi,
I noticed when I published photos to Facebook, it uploads the photos as high resolution 2048 pixel wide photos (when you download from Facebook). Is there anyway to reduce the resolution other than exporting a lower resolution version of the image to my hard drive then uploading to Facebook?

I believe Aperture is automatically resizing the uploads for Facebook to stay within specs, going through an optimization procedure. That procedure may be more focused on file size via the compression setting, so the number of pixels may not be as altered as you may expect or desire. I don't know any control that you can exercise via the Share command.

How can you change the default setting for the alarm for new events?

When I create a new Event, it will create an alarm that will activate 15 minutes before the event. I'd like to change the settings so the default setting would be that when I create a new event it will activate 1 day before the actual event. Is it possible to change this? Thanks.

_Go to iCal > Preferences > General >"Add a default alarm to all new events and invitations"
_Change the current value from 15 minutes to whatever minute value you like (1440 for 24 hours).
_Of course this will only affect NEW events. Not those already created.
_Close the window and your done.

How do you change the volume used for group folders in Lion Server?

So I'm slowly acclimating to Lion Server, however, I'm not able to determine how to specify the parent folder for Groups. By default it's the /Groups root directory on the boot volume however I'm trying to change it to an alternate drive on a separate volume. I've tried removing the sharepoint from the 'Server' admin utility and adding the alternate Group folder (on a separate volume) but to no avail.
Has anyone else worked with this?

Open Workgroup Manager app, from the ServerAdminTools, (link) enter your domain name for your server (FQDN), enter your OpenDirectory administrator user and password, go to Groups > Groups Folder.

Can you change the udev ATTRS for a device?

In particular with programs that access optical media lately, it seems to be popular to refer to them in various softwares by their vendor/model/rev (ie: 'TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F SB02').
This gets confusing and messy when you have multiple of the same device.
Is it possible to write an udev rule that would change it to something else, like maybe 'TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F SB02 /dev/sr0', or something, so I can actually tell my drives apart when they're referenced that way?

With an LCD, if you change the resolution, things will be bigger, but blurrier.
You can however keep the resolution of the LCD at its native resolution, giving the maximum picture quality, and then use tools, such as Tinkertool…

Yes, you can. If you use the current AirPort Express, Apple says that you can connect up to 50 devices. Realistically, make that 25-30 or so before the speed really begins to drop.
Remember that you will have to reset the modem though, before you connect it to the AirPort Express as the modem "remembers" the settings for your computer.
