Can you color code keywords?

When I apply keywords to clip segments, the bar that appears at the top of each segment is blue. If I have overlapping segments, each with a different keyword, or two segments back to back, each with a different keyword, it looks like one single keyword application.
Can I color code keywords so that the keyword bars are a different color for each keyword?

I don't think so. But you can click VIEW/PLAYHEAD INFO and see the keywords as you skim.

Set up a rule (Mail preferences -> Rules) for something like:
If From contains [the sender's email address]
Perform the following actions:
Set Color of Message -> Background/text -> Color
You can also set the first criteria to "Sender is a member of group" with the group name, or have multiple criteria, as suits your purpose.

Can you make a Keyword Collection for entire event library?

Hello all,
So you make an event, and you can make Keyword Collections for that particular event, such as "WS" or "Person 1" or "Indoors"... But...
What if those keywords apply to other events?
I am making video content for a particular company. I shoot stuff one day import as an event. The only content that I produce is for this company, so you can imagine there are going to be similar themes across mutable events...

Yes you can but that feature only works if you are searching a single event (Pretty Cool/Useful), Creating a smart collection based on what you tick off in the dialogue box... You will get an error message if Searching the drive itself:

I did some playing around...
I created a new event
Then I ran a search, with Keywords ticked off, Ticking off mutable Keyword Collections.
Then dragged the results into my new event.
This in effect created "saved search results" but Final Cut started copying clips to that event folder that was created on my external HD. I was hoping that It would generate alias files...

Can I color-code file types?

I'm a Mac newbie. I carried over some Windows files I have been working on for years. They were made by different versions of a layout program (PageMaker 6.5 -> PageMaker 7.0 -> InDesign CS5.5), and so have different file extensions.
I see how to color an individual filename, but would like to assign one color to all files with the same extension to facilitate bringing them all up to date. Can I do that?

Yes you can color code based on extensions. Open a Finder window and hit command+F - this is a search window that can be populated according to your searching criteria and can also be saved to later consulting (it would live in the sidebar should you decide so). Click on the little drop down menu presently labeled as Type and choose other; type extension on the now blinking cursor besides the magnifying glass to narrow your options, choose file extension and "ok" your selection. Now fill the box with the desired extension (no dots necessary) and select all, do your color coding and you're done.

Can you apply ranged keywords to synchronized clips?

Howdy y'all,
I have two audio files representing separate sides of a conversation, recorded with two separate mics. (This lets me control their levels and such in post, individually.) It's trivial to turn these two clips into a single Syncronized clip, once I make whatever adjustments I wish to them indivudally. So far so good.
Now I'm at the point where I want to log the major sections of this conversation, marking ranges with keywords. But while I can select ranges on the synchronized clip with the range tool (or setting in / out points as I listen), I can't seem to assign keywords to any of these ranges. I can bring up the keyword editor and type stuff all right, but no keyword I thus create ever gets assigned to the syncronized clip. It seems that the most I can do is keyword only one or the other of the synchronized clip's constituent clips. I don't wanna do that; I want to log the whole, synthezied conversation, not just one mic's output.
I have also tried to do this by treating the separate tracks as a compound clip rather than a syncronized clip, and I encounter the same issue.
Am I missing something, or using the wrong FCPX idiom? Or can you simply not log at any level other than at the lowest level of original clips? (Which would make me sad and confused...)
Background: I am yet another person coming to FCPX after cutting my A/V teeth years ago on (in this case) FCP 5. And yes, I'm trying to use this to edit together an audio-only podcast. I got good enough at "classic" FCP idioms that I wouldn't think twice about doing it, despite the lack of a video element in the source, so it seemed natural to use FCPX for this project today. If I am flat-out using the wrong tool, please let me know. But I tried using GarageBand for this, and the lack of e.g. j/k/l made me instantly hate it...

I don't suppose there's a way to bring up a visualization of a clip's audio waveform in the viewer pane? (I refer to the middle pane in the top row.) I feel a bit crowded working with a lengthy audio track using only that tiny, scrunched view in the browser pane, and I seem to recall that you could change the view in classic FCP to display only the audio.
If I'm just doing coarse-level logging it isn't a huge deal, and I'm willing to concede that this is one thing I have to live with using a video editor on an audio-only project. But it'd be nice to have...

Can you write code to snap to page instead on continuos scrolling on ipad?

I'm using IQMercury as a player for a client... And i need the page to snap into place instead of continous scrolling, so that you scroll one page at a time instead of being able to flip 10 pages at a time. Is there a JavaScript code to beable to do that?

I think the problem is that its not a very good player, with limited functionality...so all it does is have a LoadPDF function that calls a pdf from a location and plays it through the player, but it doesn't allow you any additional customisation. So im relying on embedding some code in acrobat pro and then into the PDF so that when played through IQMercury player it picks up the embedded code.
Thats the plan anyway...whether it works is another thing altogether....i just can't move outside of using IQMercury as the player...it has to be played in that.

How can you color-manipulate a .tif image?

I am working on a project from an already-existing idd file, and am just needing to update it for a client. While in the file, I noticed something that I didn't think was possible!
There is a linked black and white .tif image that has somehow been colorized. The attached image above is the resulting "texture" background created with the linked image.
I can't figure out how this was done. Anyone know?

In my usage, the image cannot have a transparent background?
In CS6+ the grayscale can have layers and transparancy, but there has to be a Background layer with no transparency. So this layered PSD with a transparent layer over the background works:

Can you color correct before rendering?

This is a simple beginner question.
Lets say I make something that's 20 min long with a lot of cuts and I want to color correct the whole thing as one. Is there a way to do that before rendering it out or will I have to render it out for several hours, import it back in, color correct and then render it out a second time?

If you're using Premiere cs6 you can simply use a adjustment layer for doing this color correction task. Just take the adjustment layer and extend it on a video track over top of all your video clips and put your desired CC effect on the adjustment layer then you're ready to roll.
If you don't have Premiere Pro cs6 and you have cs4 cs5 or you have 5.5 then you can create a new sequence that matches your exact settings used in your original sequence, then take your original sequence and drag and drop it into your new sequence/timeline and then stick the color correction effect on your old sequence once it's inside the new sequence you just created.

Can you have code run in a terminal and applet?

For example in my program in Main we enter the data for menu and amount of the exchange but the result is displayed in an applet.

I have a client that want to set the spped and duplex on the switch port. Is there a way you can configure the fastethernet port on a lightweight access point for speed and duplex.

Color Code Midi Notes on Piano Roll?

Can you color code midi notes in Logic Pro's piano roll/key editor? (I.e., can you make all C's red, C#'s blue, etc.?)
I'm tempted to jump from Cubase to Logic, but I need this feature.

Why do you ask?
I've learned to 'read' my color coding in Cubase -- just like I read ordinary notation (red, yellow, green = C Major, for example). This way I don't need to open a score editor or Sibelius when I work.
Anyway, can't be done in Logic as far as I can see; too bad.

You can't "color code" anything. Apple Mail is not some sprawling feature-bloated Microsoft project. It's a very small footprint and tightly programmed address book database that is well integrated into the OS. It is possible Address Book will include color properties in the future, but that king of visual noise is not Apple's style.
If you relly must have a colored family, you should stick to Entourage.

Why don't you simply add the name (Bill or Bob) to the Playlist name, or add an asterisk for one person's and the ampersand for the other person's lists?

Color code calendar events

How can I color code calendar events in Calendar (iPhone 4S)? I have it synced to Exchange. So if this is the case should calendar events come over as color coded from Exchange?

Not sure about adding color to the calendar as I have never done it. However, I assume it can be done based on the way the Calendar is set up in this TribeVita template. This may also be another great option for you other than colors.
