Can you copy custom To Do List settings from one project to another?

Using RH9. We created a number of To Do List entries for one of our Robohelp projects that we now want to use in all of our RH projects (File > Project Settings > Manage To Do List for Robohelp Project). Is it possible to copy these entries from one project to another? Or do we need to re-create the list of To Do tasks for each one of our 20+ projects?

Hi there
The "To Do" list items appear to be stored directly in the ProjectName.XPJ file. So theoretically it would be possible to copy them by opening one XPJ using Windows Notepad, copying them, then opening the target XPJ and pasting. However, this will likely cause a disparity between the XPJ and the .CPD. So before actually opening the project where you are copying them into, you would want to close the project and delete the CPD. Then modify the XPJ and re-open the project. A fresh CPD should then be baked up and things should be in sync.
You might also want to submit a Wish Form to ask for an easier way to transfer custom lists. (link is always in my sig)
Cheers... Rick

  • Copying an entire software instrument track from one project to another

    Hello,
Is it possible to copy or import one entire software instrument track from one GB 3.0.2 project to another? At the moment I've got to copy a region from one project, open another project, paste it in the 2nd project, and open the other one again (which appears to close the 2nd project) to copy the second region. This is incredibly cumbersome because I can't have both projects open at the same time.
Has anyone found a less tiresome method to do this?
    Thanks
    Hiranya
Powerbook 15" Hi Res 1.67 GHz 2 Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

The easiest work-around I can imagine is to join all regions of the track and copy that. Another option is to freeze the track, which will turn it into normal audio. You might also add your MIDI parts to the library. That will avoid the need to switch between projects, but does require one or two more actions.

  • Can I copy the filter/motion/effect settings from one clip to others?

I've got a series of photos in my timeline, each will move with some random little rotation and zoom in/out pan, etc... on a black background. Can I save some time by setting up one photo with the effects the way I want it and then copying those settings to the other photos?
After doing that, I would have to adjust the settings on each photo to randomize them. Or would it be just as easy/easier to just start from scratch with each photo?

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Once your clip's motion and scale is adjusted, select your clip in timeline, use copy command. Now select all others clips in timeline, use the contextual menu (control click) over the fist one, and select "paste attributes menu--" select "basic motion".
You can also use option-V shortcut to invoque the paste attribute contextual menu.
When all your clips have the same movements and scale, simply recenter (motion tab) each one to put some variation in motion.
You can also set two ot three movements (clips and paste item properties in random order (manually) to other clips.

  • How can you change all of the control codes from one  number to another?

I'm trying to use CC11 for Dynamic Expression Control, rather than just runing the volume CC7 all the time. My problem is that I would like to do a large select of say all CC codes that are 7 and move them to be 11 rather than do it one event at a time. Is there a technique for this?

The Samplecontruct's recommendation is right and probably conformable if you want to process one or a few midi region(s) containing CC7.
In addition, if have multiple midi regions on a track and want to process in one step then the Transform window is recommended. I.e you select that track (which will select all regions), open the Transform and create the custom template I show in the pic below). Hit the "Select and Operate" (4) button which will select the matching contend (CC7) internally of the track selected regions and operate in one step. This saves time if you must select 50-60 regions and change their CC# using the Event list technique for instance.

  • Can I copy mail prefs and mail folder from one mac to another?

    Hi everyone,
My mac book pro's mail is corrupted... I've tried with a new .plist file and other than losing my settings it fixes the problem ! Instead of recreating my settings could I just replace the .plist file and the mac folder in my library from the imac (essentially the same on both computers) and be good to go without the setup hassle?
Or is this a very very very bad idea?
    Thanks for the info,
    Philly

Yes, that should work just fine, if the same version of Mail.
For safety drag, your old mail folder and plist to the desktop, until you're sure all is well.

  • Can i copy my settings from one mac to another?

    Hi
Since I had a problem with my Mac's drive that suddenly failed (I am able to read ONLY), I replaced the internal HD with my emergency HD that I had backedup a few months before. I would like to know if there's a way to copy my settings from one mac to another? Is there a specific folder for all apps or do I have to find out each and every single file for each app?
    I need the settings for
    System (view, font, color,)
    Finder (view, etc)
iTunes (that include all library, playlists, etc),
    Firefox (Bookmarks, settings & plug-ins),
    Safari (Bookmarks, settings & plug-ins),
    Address Book (contacts)
Thuderbird (emails accounts, contacts, passwords, etc)
Stickies (stickies on the dock - i have info on there unsaved)
    Filezilla (FTP infos)
    Would appreciate.
    Thnx.

All that info is found in your user/library folder, I just did a 60 machine rollout and copied all those settings from user/library, just be forewarned that if you upgrade software those setting will not take on the machine, for example Adobe CS 3,4 will not usable by CS5.  let us know if you need more help.  Also make sure you copy most of your preferences in the user/library/prefences folder.
Note: If you are using an identical backup with all apps and user settings, you can just copy all folders from user to your new home folder.  Remember that only if the image or backup is identical to your production OS.

  • Can one 'copy' Shadow\Stroke settings from one graphic to another?

I'm always juggling hundreds of stills. I'd love to be able to just copy the Shadow settings from one still to another. Or to be able to 'lock' the setting so that they are all they same when applied to a set of stills.
    Is something possible here?

    Yes:
    - select your shape you want to use as a "style model"
    - <pre>Format > Copy Graphic Style</pre>
    - select all the shapes you want to apply the same graphical style to
    - <pre>Format > Paste Graphic Style</pre>
You can also adopt it as a default graphical style forever:
    - select your shape you want to use as a "style model"
    - <pre>Format > Advanced > Define Default Shape Style</pre>

  • How do you move Compressor 3.05 settings from one Mac to another?

How do you move settings from one Mac to another?
I have Compressor 3.05 installed on two Intel Macs: a MacPro tower and a MacBook Aluminum. I created a new setting on the MacBook, and can see it in Library -> App Support -> Compressor as "<name>.setting" Then I moved to the Mac Pro for speed and created a few more settings. I copied these settings from the Mac Pro libary and put them in the MacBook library; restarted Compressor on the MacBook but still cannot see those presets from within Compressor. I hate to re-create all those settings, but I do move between both computers depending on what I am doing.
    What am I missing? Thanks.

    To copy single settings.
    1. Drag & Drop your setting from the Compressor Settings window to i.e. the desktop
    2. Copy .setting file to an other Mac
    3. Drag & Drop the .setting file(s) over to the Settings window in Compressor
    To copy settings groups (folders)
    1. Go to */Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Compressor*
    2. Copy the settings group folder you want to your i.e. the desktop
    3. Make sure Compressor is not open on the other Mac
    4. Copy the settings group folder to the same location on the other Mac
    5. Open Compressor
    Hope this helps

  • Copy lightroom 4.4 "default camera settings" from one computer to another?

Is it possible to copy my lightroom 4.4 "default camera settings" from one computer to another?

Quote "Are you saying that the settings are stored in the catalog."
I believe it is stored in the Preferences file. You can use presets to do the same thing as adjusting the "default develop settings", they are applied differently.
One is set in the Lightroom "Preferences" and one is applied by selecting a particular preset at import. I have not tried but since you can delete the preference file and Lightroom will rebuild one I am pretty sure you should be able to copy one from one computer to another.
Also you need to be aware that Lightroom applies noise reduction by default to your specific camera model and to the ISO setting. It does not display the actual settings.

  • How can I migrate my junk-mail settings from one Mac to another?

I would like to move my junk mail settings from one Mac to another. I found this article (https://kb.siteground.com/how_to_synchronize_the_junk_email_settings_in_mac_mail /), but can't locate the file indicated in the article, so I suspect that the article is out of date (though it's not dated).
    Both machines - MacOS 10.9.5; Mail 7.3.
    Any insights much appreciated!
    Best,

Make your user library visible and see if you can find it.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library.

  • Can I copy clips from one project to another?  The clips are still frames captured within a video event.

Can I copy clips from one project to another?  The clips are frames saved as stills from a video event.  I try the copy & paste but it does not seem to work.

The video was converted into MP4 and then I could get it into iMovie events.  I had right clicked and saved farmes as stills.  ABout 50 of them,  When I tried to copy and paste those stills into another project I couldn't. They came up blank.
I ended up going to a Genius appointment at my APPLE store this afternoon and was told that those "stills" aren't really anything. Not a .jpg or video, so the program doesn't recognize them.  So instead I'm using the Project with the 50 stills and copying other .jpgs and video into it.  (This is for a 1961 Class Reunion, so it's old stuff).  Seems to work so far.
So bottom line seems to be I can use these stills created from a video in the project in which they were created, but no where else.  Do you know a way around this?

  • How to transfer printer settings from one Mac to another (both OSX)?

Hello, I have not found a detailed description on how to transfer printer settings from one Mac to another.
My issue is that I have a Mac G5 with 3 different settings saved as "presets" for the same printer. This works great, since the posters I print (on the large format printer) need different margins and different paper at times.
This G5 is basically retired and only used for printing. G5 has OSX 10.3.9
I have a MacPro as its replacement (OSX 10.4.11).
The MacPro has all my apps and other settings setup to my liking.
I found several links via Google saying copy this folder or directory, but I am not sure I did it correctly. I don't see the "presets".
I tried launching the Migration Assistant (I hope that's the correct name), but was concerned the settings on the new MacPro would be overwritten with ALL the old stuff on the older G5. I did not start the transfer process because of this.
If someone would list the steps needed to accomplish the transfer of printer settings or advise if this is possible, then I would be very grateful! The previous user of the G5 I am using was a "Genius" and I don't know how he created these "preset" choices.
    Thanks!

Hi SCChelpdesk, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I found several links via Google saying copy this folder or directory, but I am not sure I did it correctly. I don't see the "presets".
This is the File that holds that info on Tiger, not certain on Panther...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
After moving, you very well might have to change the Owner's Permissions within Get Info window, then log out/in.
I tried launching the Migration Assistant (I hope that's the correct name), but was concerned the settings on the new MacPro would be overwritten with ALL the old stuff on the older G5. I did not start the transfer process because of this.
MA would transfer the info, but/and, if the user that had that info had the same Shortname as on the new one, it'll demand you give it a new Shortname to use... but then those settings would be transferred to that new user on the new machine. I think the 1st one will work though.
The previous user of the G5 I am using was a "Genius" and I don't know how he created these "preset" choices.
We can go through that way if you like... not all that hard.

  • How to transfer user settings from one account to another (on the same Mac)

I'd like to create separate user accounts for "work" and "play" (so that I can do things like have separate address books, etc...). However, I already have LOTS of personalized settings (trackpad behavior, login items, etc) that I'd like to keep the same between the two accounts.
Is there a way to transfer all of the user settings from one account to another?

You'll need to copy your /Home/Library folder. Make sure you back up first before doing the following. Log out of both your Work and Play accounts. Log in to a third account with administrator privileges. Assuming you are copying from the account called "work" to the account called "play", enter the following in Terminal:
sudo rm -rf ~play/Library (this deletes Play's Library folder.)
sudo cp -R ~work/Library ~play/Library (this copies Work's Library folder to Play's folder.)
sudo chown -R play ~play/Library (this fixes permissions of Play's new Library folder.)

  • Copy tracks from one project to another

(Hopefully, I'm just missing something obvious. Programs like Final Cut Pro and PhotoShop make it very easy to have multiple projects open and copy and paste between them.)
I frequently copy tracks I like from one project to another. Although it's possible to do, it seems a given that Logic doesn't not like to have more than one project open at a time. This complicates it a bit, but I just copy the track I want, close the current project and open the new one.
I wish in the edit menu or in the track drop-down menu there was a straight forward "Copy Track" option. Since there isn't, I just select the whole track (which is essentially all the regions) and copy and then paste into new project. The problem is that it brings the content over fine, but not the track info (name, etc.)
Is there some better way to accomplish this? I don't want to export MIDI tracks as audio, so the Export option doesn't work.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I looked at the video again and unless they did some editing in FCP (which would have to be the case), the following frame after selecting the regions shows both gone simultaneously.
It is quite possible of some FCP editing but as I said first you can do that very fast using two neighbor keys so it can look as one magic shot. The screen capture tools use low FPS settings for media capturing about 15 fps for example.
I tend to occasionally put a blank track between other tracks as a separator (been doing this since the Master Tracks Pro days).
I think you can try a little trick for doing that. You can create a "Dummy" empty region inside a folder track for example, and use the folder track(s) as separator(s). I have not tried that yet, cause I'm away of my Logic but it must work this way.

  • Can't MOVE images from one project to another: must not understand

    Greetings,
I have two questions as a result of aperture not working the way that I have read on forums etc. and am wondering what i am doing wrong
    1) How do I MOVE images from project to project without duplicating masters or versions
    2) how do I delete versions
All of my files are referenced.
*1) moving from project to project*
I have a blue folder called "NEFs." In it, I have a default project where I just dump all of my images called "00 dump." After I dump them, I organize into other projects. So, I do the following:
    • I create a new project called "2008 Thanksgiving" inside the NEFs blue folder making it a sibling to "00 dump"
    • I go back to "00 dump" select all the images that were shot over thanksgiving, and drag to the "2008 thanksgiving" folder. The images transfer fine, but when I go back to "00 dump" I see that the images have NOT actually moved, they are now sitting in both projects. How can this be? I thought that if I move images from project to project then I am actually moving the master, not replicating a version? That leads me to my next dilemma
*2) how do I delete versions?*
Now that I have replicated photos in my "2008 Thanksgiving" project, I want to delete them since I see them still sitting in "00 dump." I do the following:
    • select the "2008 Thanksgiving" project
    • select a number of images
    • press command + delete (this is the only way to delete a file as far as I can tell
    • popup comes up explaining that if I delete this file it will delete the master too and the reference file. So, that's exactly what it does.
Deleting the referenced file is fine for many junk images, but in this case, I just want to delete the copied version that seems to be in two projects now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would really love a full understanding of how this structure works.
    -i

When you drag images and the drop target is an actual little yellow project box (not a folder, and album or anything else) the images move from one project to another, if your drop target is not the actual project but something else within another project all you do is cause the version to show up there, nothing is duplicated.
To delete a version or versions selected just use command-delete. This gets rid of the actual version not just removes it from the current album view. If it happens to be the last version of that master it will get rid of the master as well.
    Have a look at this:
