Can you disable the trackpad on an MBP from the command line?

Is this possible? The MBP is a 15" Core 2 Duo, so 4 years old or so. It was stepped on by a firefighter after a 25' chunk of a pine tree blew through the roof of our house. The display glass is broke but the display is still pretty good. I was going to give it to a friend, but it seems to me that the trackpad is sort of stuck in click mode. If I have an external mouse plugged in, I can right click but not left click. The basic functionality of the keyboard works as I can enter the password to unlock the unit, so broadly speaking, the computer seems OK overall.
Any suggestions? The friend is not in critical need of it, so if I can't resolve this, it's no big deal.

We didn't file a claim with insurance on this computer because it was purchased in a weird fashion. My wife is an astronomer, and at the end of the year (whenever it was) her boss told her that they actually had some leftover money and asked if she wanted a new computer. Half of her salary is paid from a different program, not directly from the observatory, so I suggested talking to her other boss and maybe having the two bosses go in halfsies on the new computer, which they did. This was probably 4 years ago.
About 2 years ago she bought a new MBP and this MBP was semi-retired. It was still used occasionally, she had some projects where two laptops used together was really useful. When the tree came through the roof, it was directly over her head. She got hit by the ceiling, but our metal roof decelerated the tree enough that I am not a widower today. This happened almost a year ago. The MBP that was in her lap was relatively undamaged, it somehow got a piece of insulation dust under a key. We got it checked out and it's been fine.
I was sitting next to her. Lightning struck a tree a good 10-15 yards behind our house and it exploded. The bigger chunk hit our propane tank and bounced, the one that went through our roof was 25' long and 75 lbs a foot. We were VERY fortunate to get only some inhalation damage and some minor bumps and abrasions. The sad thing was that we had a new dog, we'd only had him for a month a that point, and prior to that he was not afraid of thunderstorms. Needless to say he's no longer fearless.
Anyway, back to my problem. I'd like to take it to an Apple store for evaluation, but the closest is a two hour drive which we just don't make casually. When I entered @NBAR's code, this is the result:

I should have mentioned that this particular box is running 10.6.8. The only way that I can get it to left-click properly is what I'm doing right now, using Screen Sharing from my iMac.

Step 1: Open a stock iPhone app. e.g. Apples Stocks, Weather, SMS, Email etc.
Step 2: Press and hold the power button until the swipe to power off screen appears.
Step 3: Let go of the iPhone's power button
Step 4: Press and hold the iPhone's home button. Do not let go until the power off screen disappears.
And that's it, your home button is recalibrated and should hopefully now be more responsive.

I'm afraid that there does not appear to be any way to disable the autocomplete of the LabVIEW combo box. If this is a real problem the best suggestion I could give you would be to try the .net combo box. This does allow you to disable the autocomplete mode although obivously the programming would be slightly more complex than the built in combo box.
Otherwise you could use the update value on every key and use a different event to trigger the movement or if it isnt the enter key that is pressed do nothing in the event case.

Hello is there any way to turn off / disable the DSL modem on the 837 router? I have shutdown the ATM0 interface but the modem is still trying to train up. I'm trying to disable it as I am now using an external modem with PPPOE.

Hmm, there does not seem to be any command that would deactivate the modem. I do not have such a router handy though - can you enter the global config mode and try writing the controller ? command including the question mark? Is it recognized? If yes, does it allow you to refer to either the ATM or a DSL interface? If yes, try entering the mode provided by the controller command, and use shutdown to deactivate it. As I said, though - I am not sure if this command is supported on your platform. Perhaps try entering the service internal command as the very first command before trying playing with the controller - this hidden command in the global config unlocks some of other hidden features.
In any case, do you have any problems with the modem still running? I understand it is kind of irritating to know that the modem continuously stays up and tries to bring up the link. Then again, it shouldn't do any harm...

where usersns1 is the userid.
Also pl. tell me where can i get the command list for sun one messaging server to use the command line utility to list, delete mailboxes. also can i search for all the mailboxes under one domain name. if yes then which command i have to use.

where usersns1 is the userid.Make sure the permissions (ownership) on the user directory and the sub directory match those that messaging server uses - by default mailsrv:mail. This is the most common cause of the telemetry data not being created. The other thing to verify is that the user's account isn't stored as user@domain, otherwise you may need to create the directory as the entire user@domain (try both just to be sure).

The mboxutil command is used to list/create/delete mailboxes and you can use a pattern to only list those mailboxes in a specific domain.

Can you disable the color picker in code view?

One of the things that slows me down in Dreamweaver is the color picker in code view. it pops up when I'm trying to type a quick colour - like #fff, and causes a pause in my system for 5 seconds (effectively locking up my system) while it thinks about selecting a color. is there a way I can just stop the color picker from popping up at all? I never use it to pick colors.

There is no way to disable the colour picker in Code view. However, you can successfully prevent it from popping up by changing the delay in Preferences:
Setting the delay affects all code hints, but they pop up as soon as you start typing. However, I found that a delay of about 1 second was sufficient to suppress the colour picker.

How can you disable the alerts for find my phone app

I have one iPad and 3 iPhones on my account. 2 of those are my kids. When I Use the find my phone App, one of my kids gets an alert that say I just tracked her, the other 2 phones don't or the iPad. Can you disable the autoseek that occurs on key down in list based components?

I have a datagrid and hitting a key causes an autoseek to happen which takes me to a different row in the grid/list. I have tryed adding an event listener and using prevent default but apperently the event is happening elsewhere. The basic setup is a grid in a item renderer for another datagrid. I have tried capturing the event for both and while I can use the event I can't seem to disable the autseek that occurs. Any help would be great.

My ear or face keeps muting phone conversations inadvertently. Is there a way to disable the mute button?

The proximity sensor above the earpiece should turn the screen off when the phone is placed near your ear. If you have a case, remove it and see how it works.
