Can you down load priviously purchased CDs onto your iPod?

can you down load priviously purchased CDs onto your iPod?

Yes if they do not have DRM protection.  If you go your Music library in iTunes there is an option for importing your CDs.

  • The download button as described on the HELP page doesn't appear on the page with my downloadable list of songs. How do you down load a purchase? I have made 3 purchases of the same song and can not down load it and the HELP instructions don't help.

The download button as described on the HELP page doesn't appear on the page listing my purchase.
The HELP instructions list that such a button must be clicked to down load an item.
I have made 3 purchases of the same song in an attempt to download it.
Only one of those purchases appears on the page that list purchases available to down load.
I wrote out a copy of the HELP page instructions (the page can't be printed) so I could accurately follow it as I tried to do the down load.
Is there some secret to downloading a purchase or causing the down load button to appear?

    Hello L Swarz,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when downloading your purchased song to your iPod nano.
I am not sure if you have tried these specific steps, but I recommend downloading the purchased song to iTunes on your computer using the steps in the following article:

  • Can not down load older purchased music

I Have and IPAD w/retina display.  Problem.  deleted all playlist from my iTunes By accident.  Seems like the libraries are gone.  I went to the store to down load my purchased music and it will not allow me to download the music.  Also I purchased a new song and it wouldn't let me down but it showed up in my music.  All I need to know is how I can get my music back unto my IPad.  I do not have access to the Internet all the time so it's critical that the music gets back to my IPad.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Dawn
    P.S.
I Do have a Windows PC which still seems to have the music. I tried to share but it didn't work.

If you are in a country where you can redownload music (and if the music is still in the store and you haven't changed countries since buying it) then it should show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app for redownloading.
For home sharing, you can use that to stream content to an iOS device (home sharing has to be enabled by the same account on both your computer's iTunes and iPad, and they have to be connected to the same network), but you can't use it to copy content to an iOS device.
You should be able to resent your music back to your iPad from your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351.

  • Can you down load music on different computers for nano

I have my own music down loaded on to my Nano. I no longer have use of that computer. Can I safely add to my collection of songs on the Nano with using another computer without wiping out my data?

Yes, but you must first configure your iPod for manual management by enabling the Manually manage music option from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes.

  • HT201272 I have got 50 tunes that won't down load, I purchased these on my iPod & want them on my iPad, every time I click try again it fails & says down load error? Can anyone help please?

I'm so frustrated with this I've even bought both albums again hoping it would delete the original one's, no such luck, they're still there :(

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Can you delete songs that are already on your ipod?

My Ipod automaticly downloaded all of the songs off of my itunes, and I don't want most of them on there, is there anyway to get rid of them?

There are different ways to delete depending how you have your iPod set to update. If you are updating automatically then delete the files from the iTunes library and next time you connect they will automatically be deleted from your iPod. if you are updating manually, connect your iPod and click on the icon when it shows in the iTunes source list. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly. To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod
There is also a couple of ways that do not involved deleting the files permanently from iTunes. The default iPod setting is automatically update with iTunes when connected. You can keep the automatically update setting and select the "Only update checked songs" option in the iPod Preferences.
When unchecking a song in iTunes, it will not be updated to the iPod and if already on the iPod, unchecking the song in iTunes will remove it from the iPod during the next update with iTunes.
Another is to set your iPod to "automatically update selected playlists only" then all you need to do is remove the song from the playlist and update, it remains in your library should you want to add it in future.

  • HT1386 Why can't I synch my purchased CDs onto my IPAD?

Trying to sych a newly purchased CD that shows up in I tunes on the computer, but does not show up on my IPAD after "Synching" 3 times.  WHY WON'T THE SONGS MOVE!  Extremely frustrated. Want to throw Ipad in wood chipper, please help.

Thanks for a few steps that helped me.  I got to the Music tab for the Ipad.  Once there I saw the choices you mentioned, but they are all greyed out.  When I push the "Sync Music" check box to enable the choices, a big nasty dialog box jumps up and says that it will remove anything that's not on this computer wiping out all of the files I synced onto another computer.  Does that mean the ipad can only sync with one computer?

  • HT1386 My iPod Mini will not sync with my iTunes newly purchased Album!! I receive a message stating my iPod's User Name is registered with another iTune & I can't receive the new purchased Album onto my iPod! It tells me to erase my iPod to put this iTun

From the message given to me from my iTunes I stated above, I don't want to erase all that is on my iPod in order to get iTune site to get to sync or download to my iPod! the newly purchased Album downloaded to my iPod!!! HELP!!! I'm trying to figure out HOW to find out where iTunes thinks there is another iTune acct registered to My iPod"s User Name???!!! AND TO REVERSE ALL THAT OR MERGE THIS ACCTS IN ORDER TO GET ON MY iPOD WHAT I HAVE PURCHASED IN ORDER TO ENJOY MY CHOICE OF MUSIC!!!  iTunes or Apple's solution on this message box to me when I tried to download the newly purchased Album, was to ERASE MY IPOD'S CONTENTS & THEN I'D BE REGISTERED WITH THIS iTUNES ACC & THEN ABLE TO DOWNLOAD MUSIC & THIS ALBUM FROM THIS PLAYLIST!!!  I HAVE NOT KNOWN OF ANY OTHER  iTUNE I WAS AFFAILIATED WITH!!   DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF ANYTHING TO HELP ME!!!  P.S. MY iPOD HAS PLENTY OF ROOM FOR NEW DOWNLOADS OR SYNCS!!!  THANKS!!!

You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
BTW you posted in the iPod touch forum

  • I can't get my recently purchased music onto my iPod

I transferred all of my music onto my new computer.  It went fine, all of my music is there, and my iPod is recognized on this computer.  I just bought some new music, and when I went to add it to my iPod I realized it doesn't actually transfer.  What could the problem be?  Thanks!

I have the same situation with my new nano 3. I loaded about a dozen tunes from my library just fine via sync. A week later I tried to add more music and it accepted fifteen ot of ninty-four new tunes while somehow erasing the original dozen. Now I get an error message that "the disk cannot be copied from or written to." I ran the diagnostic and it tells me that all my hardware is fine, right up to the last category which is the iPod/iPhone connectivity test. This yields a strange result. The report tells me that the device is an iPod nano (3rd generation) runnig firmware version 1.1.3 and also the device's serial number. The strange part is that it also tells me "no phone or iPod found." I went through the five steps, charged battery, checked updates, re-downloaded iTunes, reset to factory defaults, etc. and still no luck. Does anybody know what driver is supposed to be used for the nano 3? I'm making a guess that it is a previous rev. to the one that comes with the new iTunes (8.0.2.20) download. Any ideas?
