Can you downgrade?

Hello everyone,
I bought an iPod touch 5th generation on Wednesday and it is installed with iOS 8.  So far, iOS 8 on my iPod touch has been nice to use, however, I want to think ahead of time on what it may do to my iPod touch.  I had the 4th generation before this, and it was terrible on iOS 6.  It was extremely slow.  iOS 8 would be the second update to the 5th generation, as iOS 6 was the second update to the 4th generation.  My iPod touch runs smoothly now, but I feel it will be slow and useless within two years or so as my old iPod touch was.  I've heard that iOS 8 tends to cause stutter on the 5th generation and the battery is not too great.  If I use my iPod touch, it dies about nine hours later.  At least my 4th generation lasted all day.
Is there any way to downgrade to, say, iOS 7?  I'm scared my iPod is going to end up like my last one.
Thanks for reading.

Nope.
The update servers stop 'signing' update requests for older versions of iOS usually a couple of days after a new version is released, this means they will not authorise these versions of iOS to be installed anymore.

  • How can you downgrade from ios 7.1.2 to 6.1.3

hello everyone can you please help me i need to downgrade from ios 7.1.2 to ios6.1.3 because my ipad dosent work realy well with it can you plese help me

Downgrading isn't possible. iTunes won't install iOS versions older than the latest compatible release, and if one's somehow installed anyway, Apple's servers won't activate the device afterwards.

  • Can you downgrade back to IOS5.1.1

I downloaded IOS6 but now its saying after i cant use it cause im not registed and i dont wanna pay for the year so how can i downgrade back to IOS5.1.1 cause the iphone is coming up on itunes but sending me a link asking me to register i have but still says the same

All you have to do to downgrade is plug in your device into iTunes and click restore. Let it do it's thing and you'll be back on 5.1.1. And if that doesn't work. Just search on google for its 5.1.1 for your device and download it. And after that shift then click on restore and browse for your the 5.1.2 firmware (for windows) and Mac use (alt) and click restore. Hope this helps cause I'm sure everybody with an apple device has done so,etching crazy like him so stop judging the man. Or woman.

  • Can you downgrade from Snow Leopard to Leopard if MacBook Pro is shipped with SNL

I have recently purchased a MBP with 10.6.8 already installed but it came with no disks and i wish to fromat to get it truley cleaned up. I have my shop bought Leopard i pruchased for my Imac and my leopard disks that came with a later MB, when i insert the leopard disk when booted it reads ok hit the install button MBP reboots but just sits with white/blue screen and nothing happens. Tried rebooting and holding C still nothing happens apart from the MBP does not boot up but hangs. Tried pressing alt at boot up and the option to choose the disk appears I select it nothing happens yet the mouse no longer moves, it just sits there. The disk is fine as i used it to reformat a friends MB 1 hour before i attempted mine.
So if the MBP came with SNL already installed can you not roll back to leopard, or is there something I'm missing.
model: 15.4 MBP 2.8ghz core duo 500hdd 4gb ram etc...

    Hi all
Ok so I went ot the local Apple shop and they have stopped stocking SNL but advised i can download Lion and install and even though it didn't format i could when installed boot to the recovery partion -utilities and erase from there and then do a full install thus allowing a full format.
So erase done click install lion and it connected to the net and then sat for some time so what i'm asking is does this now have to down load the 4gb image again. I assumed it installed from the partition but will it download and install if so this could take some time as the Lion download took approx 8 hours.
Please tell me that is not the case as that is seriously flawed and left me in a dodgy position as i have erased my hdd and will have to wait till i can get a day off to run the next install.
as a foot note i was advised to copy the image and then burn so i would have a hard copy i did this would it be quicker to do it from thi disc.
    thanks in advance

  • Can you downgrade from smart phone to basic phone?

I added two lines on my account for my parents. They do not however use smart phones. But I got their lines with the iPhone 5 and switched it to my line. They ordered flip phones from ebay, however when the 5 came in they didn't have them available yet to I just put my iPhone 4 on the lines. Now the flip phones are in and I'm getting an error when I go to activate device. Its before I even put in the MEID number, saying can not process at this time. Is there a limit of times you can switch phones within 24 hours? And is it even possible to downgrade from smart phone to basic line?
    Thank you!

Yes you can. if you are on the share everything plan then the cost per phone will go from $40/month (smartphone) to $30/month (feature phone). You will still have the data plan at the cost it is now since that is shared between all phones on the plan.  If you have a grandfathered tier plan you should be able to drop the $30/month data plan for their specific line.
Since they ordered the phones off ebay, you will want to make sure those phones will work on VZW. If they do then switching to the flip phones should be pretty simple. you will likely have to call VZW to get everything set up.

  • Can you downgrade a catalog?

After a massive crash, I reinstalled 1.0 and tried to add the updates I had installed before (2.7).  Somehow, 4.3 got installed and my catalog was upgraded to the 4 format.  Is there any way I can save it back to a 1.0 or 2.0 version?  Tech support has been a bust so far.

    You cannot downgrade a catalog.
But ... no version of Lightroom will erase or destroy your earlier catalogs. They are still there on your hard disk somewhere. Search for them.

  • Can you downgrade 10.6

My MacBook pro Leopard just has broken. So if I don't get a Macbook with the same version of operating system i can't use my HD to recover all data. Unfortunately i did not make a backup. The question is would it work to downgrade a Snow Leopard and then boot from my 10.5.5 installation CD's? I heard that the booting is different on the newer Version so I guess it won't work, I'm not even sure if it would work if I would find the same Version of operating system.
Can somebody please help me? if you understand what I'm trying to do if not i will try to describe it in a better way.
    Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is correct (unless the old hard drive is no longer working.) This is your best option to avoid any problems with the new computer since all  you would do is restore your old Home folder.
When you startup the new computer for the first time you will start with the Setup Assistant. If you have the old drive connected to either a USB or Firewire port then you can select the option to restore your Home folder from the connected drive.
I would use a Firewire enclosure if your new computer has a Firewire port because it is much faster than USB. However, enclosures that support USB and Firewire tend to be more expensive than USB-only enclosures. You would need an enclosure for a notebook (2.5") SATA drive. My preference would be an enclosure using an Oxford chipset. They tend to work best with Macs.

  • Can you downgrade your BIOS?

    Hi,
I have an MSI P55-GD85 board and I just upgraded to BIOS version 1.5 a few days ago.  Just recently I'm having problems with my SSD drives, the writes because slow, like 70Mbps slower in all benchmarks (even real world tests).  I have 2 Vertex 2 60gb running ins RAID 0 (Intel onboard raid).  Unfortunately, I can't confirm (yet) that the BIOS update was the culprit.  Right now, I'm troubleshooting with the OCZ guys and they are suggesting that I secure erase and reformat, if that does not work, I downgrade the BIOS back to 1.4.
So my question is, is there a way to downgrade to 1.4 from 1.5?  What is the easiest and safest method to use?
    Thanks!

Did your unplug your PSU from A/C power to properly >>Clear CMOS<< after the BIOS Update?  If not, you should start with that.

  • Can you downgrade from iOS 8.2 to 8.1.3?

Is it possible to downgrade from iOS 8.2 to 8.1.3 on iPhone 6? If so, how? After updating both my iPhone and iPad with iOS 8.2, I experienced several issues. The Bluetooth on my phobe is no longer workIng properly and will not sync with my car or any other Bluetooth device. The battery life for both devices has been reduced significantly. Also the update has caused glitches in several of my apps as welL. I don't plan on getting an Apple watch, so I don't need 8.2.

No, downgrading iOS levels is not supported.

  • Can you downgrade to 2.0 if you want?

Reading the posts, as much as I want 3.0, it scares me to learn of the problems some people of been having; I depend so much on my iphone; does anyone know if its possible to downgrade t. 2.x if I make the leap and find my iphone hobbled?
I don't usually have problems with updates, but the more I depend on an instrument, the more paranoid I become about upgrades!
    Thanks. Ger

i would NOT do it yet. and i WISH i had read through the forums first.
i was just so excited for the new features, and similarly, have never had a problem with an update in the past.
but, i am bogged down with update to 3.0, & wishing i could downgrade myself!
as far as i've found, there is not a way to downgrade, without jailbreaking the phone. i haven't done that yet, but am tempted as i am so frustrated with this update, and apple is not responding AT ALL.
hang on to your version 2.x, and wait until the bugs are settled.
    good luck!
