Can you edit AVCHD movies and then export them as AVCHD losslessly?

As the title suggests, is it possible to create an AVCHD project in iMovie with AVCHD files (1920x1080 60p) edit them and then export them losslessly with a new Imac? I know of only one program that can do that and that one doesn't allow anything other than simple cuts & trims. You can't add music or any sophisticated editing.

No.

I just received apple tv as a present this Christmas and the shows take too long to download when I want to watch them.  Can I download multiple shows overnight or during day and watch them in the evening??  If so how?

    The ATV stores no content.
Content can be downloaded to iTunes on a computer and then streamed to the ATV via HomeSharing.

Can you edit a pdf document without exporting it into a word document?

    Hi sylvias99766822,
You can if you have Acrobat. If you don't, feel free to give it a try. You can download a 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.
Keep in mind, though, that Acrobat isn't intended to be a word processor. So, while you can make adjustments to text and graphics, if you need to do a major overhaul of the text in the document, it's best to go back to the source document and edit the content there.

  • Workflow for marking clips and then exporting them out as individual clips with audio?

    Hello,
I'm just starting to use Prelude.  I recorded an interview for my daughter for a school project last week.  The interview went well, but I want to mark as "sub-clips" all of the video interview's question/answer combos (e.g. "What is your name?  My name is John Doe.") and then save them out to individual clips rather than have to manage the full size files (about 40GB in all from my Panasonic GH3, 50mbps, IPB MOV) with clip markers.  I'll keep the originals as backups, but would really rather work with the individual clip files.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!  I would think this would be a very simple and common function.  Basically, just dividing up the original video into multiple, standalone video clips with the same bit-rate, encoding, etc., but with new headers/EOF markers.  Just chopping the original files up into chunks with no changes or reencoding necessary.  If I can do it the way I imagine it, it should be a very quick process, at least compared to transcoding the files.
    Best regards,
    Scott

    Hi -
Meg The Dog's suggestion will work if you don't intend to bring in all of your media off the card.  The Partial Ingest method will allow you to selectively create subclips during ingest and not transfer the full original clips.
However, you do state you plan to keep all your media - not just the parts you want to subclip. So here's my suggestion for the workflow:
    1. Ingest all your media from your cameras (the entire clips - not the partial clip method)
    2. Open each clip from the Prelude Project Panel and create your Subclip Markers using Prelude logging tools.
    3. In the Project Panel you will find new entries will appear for each SUBCLIP Marker you add to your master clips.
    4. You can organize you subclips into BINS as needed to keep track of the segments of your video
    5. When you're ready to create your timeline of subclips you can either
5a. EXPORT all the SUBCLIPS into their own files (select all subclips you want to export and use the FILE->EXPORT->MEDIA menu command)
       or
5b. Drag-Drop your subclips into a ROUGHCUT in Prelude to order your story. Then use the SEND TO PREMIERE PRO feature to send the Rough Cut into Premiere pro where you can finish your edit. All the media will come along for the ride into Premiere Pro (including your Subclips). You can then add titles and any effects easily enough in Premiere Pro).
There are some other options here you can also try out which might be interesting. For example, you can add transitions and any additional audio tracks to your ROUGH CUT directly in Prelude and then EXPORT the Rough Cut as a final movie - and not need to move to Premiere Pro unless you have wider editing needs.
    Hope this helps!
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Can you position something absolutely - and then move it dynamically?

    Hi All!
i tried searching for this, but didn't come up with anything...
i have a form with a few pages and it has a special way that it needs to be printed. i have a subform that i've styled to be a 'balloon' with some text in it reminding the user of the special print requirement.
so i have 4 questions total:
    1) can i position a subform absolutely?
    2) can i have it always in the upper-left-hand corner of the form as they scroll? and can i set its boundries to only the 1st page?
    3) can i stop this 'balloon' from being printed on the form?
    4) am i going about this wrong - is there some easier way i'm not thinking of?
thank you in advance for any help!

  • How can I sort photos into albums on my iPad and then export them to my iMac?

I want to import photos from my camera card into my iPad, sort them into various albums then export the albums to my iMac. I have 12 albums in Photos with around 300 photos on my iPad, but when I connect it to my iMac iPhoto tries to import all of the 1800 photos without the album structure. How do I transfer the albums and the 300 photos in them to my iMac?

Yes, but the recipient may not be getting the full image file that was used to make the Shared Photo Stream. You would have to run a test to see if there's any reduction in the image and file size. The following is from iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
What resolution are the photos in shared photo streams?
Shared Photo Streams deliver photos in a device-optimized resolution that speeds upload and downloads and saves storage space. While actual dimensions will vary, an optimized version of a photo taken by a standard point-and-shoot camera will have a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. Panoramic photos can be up to 5400 pixels wide.

  • Can you edit in Low Res then conform to High Res

A producer told me she wanted to edit in Low Res, then do an online to replace the sequence with High Res media.  I haven't done this since I started using Final Cut:  I've edited in High Res all along.
Is it necessary?  And how would it be done?  Many thanks for any knowledge you can share.

ProRes 422 is a mastering codec. It's is a format that you do convert many camera formats into. But it is a full resolution mastering codec. Tutorial?  No...but the manual:

How did he deal with all that video? Well, he had HUNDREDS of hours...adding up to 54TB. So he had to work on the project in sections, with 12TB loaded at a time.  It was tricky, but far less tricky than offline/online would have been. Less time consuming too...all the time to convert ALL of that footage to offline resolution, long time.
You're iMac is plenty powerful for ProRes. My 7 year old MacPro could deal with it fine, and your machine is more powerful.

  • Can you download a movie and watch without being online?

Just bought my IPad 2. Want to be able to watch a movie on a plane but if don't have wifi, is there a way to do this without being on line?

You need to download the movie to the iTunes account the iPad was synced with, or you will lose data and content, unless you authorize the other computer with the same iTunes account.  You can run multiple iTunes accounts on one computer.  And you can authorize up to 5 different computers with the same iTunes account.

  • I am organizing my mom's iPhoto.  Can I delete her albums and then recreate them so they are accurate?  Will I lose all the pics or will they stay in the photo library?

I am in the process of organizing my mom's iPhoto.  She has so many albums that have incorrect photos in them that I would like to delete the albums and start over.  If I do that and then organize her events accurately, can I then recreate the albums correctly?
    Thanks

Yes, as long as you're sure it's albums you're deleting and not Events.  lf you delete an Event you're deleting the photos as well.

Yes. Just pick no theme. Or go to File/Project Properties and choose no theme.

  • Can You Edit/Resize/Move Chart Labels in Pages '08?

I cannot get a seemingly basic page layout technique to work: editing pie chart labels. There appears to be no way to add a soft line break, adjust the text box, move the data label. You can't add a two-line title, either.
I am hoping that there's something I've overlooked. I handle communications for a 40-person nonprofit. I was so excited about the new iWork suite and the potential for replacing Office. I really liked the functionality of Pages and was on the point of recommending it. Then I worked on one of our reports. And got stumped by the charts. The pie charts look sharp. The color palette is better. But I can only seem to edit data labels in the inspector. Pages Help didn't help. It says I can select a label location (see below), but no pop-up exists or at least none that offers Middle or Below Right.
Can anyone help me solve this riddle? Working with charts doesn't seem like an advanced feature. I must have overlooked something, right?
    from Pages Help
For pie charts, you display values as percentages by choosing Show Pie Values as Percentages from the Data Point Settings pop-up menu on the Series pane. To display the data series name for a wedge, choose Show Series Name from the Data Point Settings pop-up menu.
Select a label location from the Data Point Settings pop-up menu (for example, Middle or Below Right).

    Hi Justin,
You should be able to manually move the X-Axis labels in the Preview Mode.
Go to the Chart Expert > Options tab > Uncheck the 'Auto-arrange' option.

  • Can you include two movies and formats in a keynote presentation?

One being a video podcast, the other being a clip from a store bought movie. And how would you include them? Thanks

As to the podcast, Keynote  would do this by opening a web browser at a specific page using a hyperlink, it is unable to show the live video stream  playing within Keynote.
Inspector > Hyperlinks > tick the 'enable hyperlink' option and type in the URL
Its actually better to just have the web browser open at the required page.
Using a retail video is fraught with problems; copy protection will block copying, digital rights management will block playing and it is illegal to circumvent these protections. It is also illegal to copy retail distribution video, unless you have explicit written permission from the distributor.
