Can you FaceTime with the same apple ID?

i have multiple devices and would like to use facetime between the devices.  Can you use the same apple ID?

Yes, you can use the same Apple ID but you must have individual calling ID's listed for each of your devices.
(Doing this can be a bit of a three ring circus if you have lots of devices)
For iphones, you simply use their individual phone numbers. But, for other devices you need to have individual, verifyable e-mail addresses associated with them that you will use as their individual calling ID's. I'm including the following link to an Apple tutorial which can help you do this.   http://support.apple.com/kb/HE68

  • How many calendars can you share with the same iCloud person?

OK Apple people, here is my concern:
I have several calendars in my iCal app.  I can share one (home) with my wife but for some reason, I am not able to add her to another calendar that I wish for her to  view/edit (work).  She does have an iCloud account.  The documentation on the Apple web site for iCloud states:  " You can share a calendar both publicly and privately with other people. Sharing gives you flexibility in managing calendars. For example, you could create a calendar for your child’s sports team and share it privately with just the coaches so they can edit it. You could also share it publicly with all the parents so they can view (but not change) it whenever they want."
Is there a limit to just how many calendars in the application that one one can send as suggested by the "a"?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

All my family devices are tied to one Apple ID.  We did that b/c we would consolidate our purchases by syncing via 1 Mac in the house.  So any device could purchase an app/music/whatever, then we would plug it into the main Mac and transfer the purchase to that and then plug in other devices and add to them.  Pain the rear!  I think my example of tedious process above is one reason for iCloud.  So, now with iCloud we should be able to purchase from any device and the other devices would have access without wires.   I thought the only way to tie them all together is if they are all under the same AppleID.  That is how iCloud knows they are related, right?  Makes sense to me.   However, on each device, we use their own @me/@mac email account to setup iCloud b/c each email is tied to that family member but under the master Apple ID for our family.  Each email account has their own contacts, emails, etc.  I thought that was the way to setup.  Shouldn’t this work?  Kind of separate but yet tied together via the 1 Apple ID.  Thoughts?

As many as you can afford...
You can load protected content on up to five computers. Those computers can load content onto any device. You can select up to ten computers and iOS devices to recieve automatic downloads of your purchases.

  • Can you facetime on two iGadgets (pad 2 & touch 4 - both iOS6) with the same apple ID?

Can you facetime on two iGadgets (pad & touch - both iOS6) with the same apple ID?

Yes, they can both have the same Apple Id, but you must use a separate device Id.  For the pad and pod that would usually be a different individual e-mail address for each.  If you attempt to use the same e-mail for both, Facetime will not work.  (Its like picking up the phone and dialing your own number)

  • HT3051 can you change your Change Your Displayed Name if you have multiple devices attached with the same apple id?

We have both a Iphone 4s and a 4th Generation Ipod Touch both with the latest available IOS software on them. Since the Ipod touch was given to a preteen for Christmas and they aren't old enough to have their own email account or apple id 11 years old going on 12, is it possible to have a different displayed name for each device if they are both signed in with the same apple ID and not interfere with each others device in doing so?

@pdroth. Displayed name as in when you sign up for a apple id you sign up with email and a screen name(this is your display name). If you are using any apple device as like you do with an android device you have to sign in with either your google acct for android or apple id for a apple product. If one apple product is utilizing that apple id already aka Iphone and you can't set up a account for your child because of his or her age because of age restrictions, both devices will use the same info. So for instance when using things like facetime instead of seeing jane doe calling jane doe(basically making it show name of other person using your account instead of seeing your own name) can you make on jane doe and one john doe using the same apple id just different outgoing display name. Hopefully this helps.

I can't activate FaceTime & iMessage on my iPad ... Would this have anything to do with already having these set up on my iPhone with the same apple ID?

As long as you're logged into the same AppleID on both devices, this is not a problem.  It's only a problem if you're logged into a different AppleID and then try to associate FaceTime with an email that tied to the other AppleID.

  • If you registrate one Apple ID for each iPhone/iPad, you'll get 5GB on iCloud for each Apple ID, right? I have two iPhones and one iPad  with the same Apple ID, why can't I get 5 GB fo each of them?

Actually, everyone missed one point, when a device is priced, the cost of icloud storage space for that device is also included in it that is why they are able to give you 5gb each for each user ID, in nutshell there is nothing free coming with apple device purchase, it is paid for.  What they are trying by giving only 5gb per user ID irrespective of the number of devices used is pure broadlight looting, they take money from you when you buy each device and give you nothing, This is a case of goods and services bought but not fully deliverd ie apple can be suied for discreminatory treatment towards it's users. I wonder why no one tried this yet in America where everyone sue everyone for petty things..... there is no one to take up this issue? . if tim got any love for the guys who shell out money for the devices his company makes, he should be implimenting this as priority before someone wake up from sleep and sue him.

  • HT5538 I have multiple Apple devices and my family all share one apple ID.  I know it is easy to obtain additional IDs but all devices are registered with the same Apple ID.  My questions is how do I set up my devices so that we can Facetime between devic

I have multiple Apple devices using the same Apple ID for all devices.  I work in the Middle East and my wife is in Russia.  I would like to Facetime between my different devices.  Is this possible with all devices registered with the same Apple ID.  It is just easier for find my iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air and for purchasing Apps.  Is this possible and how do I set it up.

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores
