Can you have more than three ipods registered to a itunes account?

Everyone in our family has a ipod video. so we have a total of 5 in the house. The question I am wondering about is.. can more than 3 ipods be registered to an itunes account? and if not..can we make a new account for the other two? when my son is at college would he be able to log on to the itunes or would he only be able to do it when he came home to visit? Since we would be loading the songs and videos on this end?
Thanks.. we are all new to this..

can more than 3 ipods be registered to an itunes account?
You don't register iPods to an iTunes account.
You simply have an iTunes account at the iTunes store.
You can use this on any computer in the world with internet access. You can use this one iTunes account to purchase and play music on up to 5 computers at a time.
when my son is at college would he be able to log on to the itunes
He can use iTunes whenever he wants.
You don't need to log on to run iTunes.

  • Can you have more than one iphone on the same itunes account

My friends wife has just brought an iphone 5 and given his old one to her husband. They both use the same itunes account because they only have one computer. The husband has gone onto the new phone with his sim card started deleting stuff and it is deleting it from the iphone 5. They are on the same icloud account im guessing. Can they have the same itunes login in so they can have the music on both phones but a different icloud login to stop deleting stuff from each others phones?

iCloud, iTunes & Apps Stores can be assigned different AppleID's from the Settings app. I have my phone and my wife's set up this way for the very reasons you are describing. Works well.

  • Can i have more than one ipod touch on the same account, or must they both be set up with different id's.

Can I have more than one ipod touch on the same account, or must they each have their own ID.

If you use the same account see the following to separate Messages and FaceTime between the two iPod see:

Stop using the same Apple ID for iMessage on these devices.  Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive (Receive At in iOS 5), tap the ID shown, sign out, then sign back in using a unique ID for each device.  (Or, just sign out and stop using your Apple ID for iMessage.)

  • Can you have more than one ipod on the same computer?

me and my sister live together and we would like to be able to have two seperate libraries on the same computer. one library is already there and when the second ipod is plugged in, it comes up as a sub-library that is unacessable.

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and or user account or
    b) Creating multiple user accounts.
Note: When you are sharing an iTunes library, you don't have to set each iPod to update in the same manner, you can mix and match from the options below as each iPod has it's own update settings
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page: Loading songs onto iPod shuffle - Windows
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library:
    Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out. You can read about Windows user accounts here:

  • Can you have more than one iPod shuffle in one copy of iTune

    Hi,
I've bought an iPod shuffle each for my two daughters, since they live with their mum I won't be able to set them up for them, anyway, they will be using them on a W2K PC, I am wondering, can you have two iPods set up on the one copy as it were, of iTunes?
Someone at the Apple store said they'll have to set up two windows users (they all share one login) and login separately, in order for their two libraries to remain separate, with their two ipods? Or is it as simple as creating two libraries, and naming the two iPods separately?

    Hi Angela.
Welcome to discussions. If you want to ask a question which is totally different from the one which started the topic, then it is best to start a new topic. That way you stand more chance of getting an answer more quickly.
Plug your shuffle in. Open iTunes (it will probably open automatically). The shuffle will appear in the source list of iTunes. Click the name of your shuffle (in the list). There is a grey bar (at the bottom of iTunes). Make sure that "replace all songs when Autofilling" and "choose songs randomly" are not selected. Then just put the songs on the shuffle that you want and delete any that are already on there that you don't( drag and drop / delete). Then the next time you plug it in, it won't make any changes automatically.
Basically as long as you never push autofill, then your shuffle should not start doing things of its own accord. So just get the songs you want on there via the drag and drop method (the only method for manual selection). Then never push autofill again.

  • Can you use more than one ipod with just one itunes?

Just wondering if it's ok to use 2 ipods from the same itunes?
Me and the wife have been sharing an ipod, but we've got one each now, so can we both just use the same itunes?

You bet---just be sure that each iPod has a unique name. typically they have Your Name's iPod, but you can have any name you like, just type it in when you connect it.
If you want to have different music on each iPod, then make a playlist of your own music and then open the Music tab when you connect your iPod and select the "synchronize playlist" (or something like that) instead of synchronizing the entire library. You'll see what I mean when you open the tab, it's pretty self-explanatory.
I have four iPods of various generations that I keep synched on the same computer.

  • Can i have more than one phone number on my itunes account?

My son and I use the same apple ID. He has a separate phone number to me and wants to use imessage on his ipad.
How can I set up my account to use more than one mobile number?

He would have to use a separate ID for iMessage in order to do this.  You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the ID used for iMessage.  To do this, have him go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.

  • Can I have more than one device active on my iTunes account?

ON my iTunes account I currently have two iPhones and one iPod touch. Everything worked fine until a month ago when suddenly iMessage started sending incorrectly between the iPhones. We don't access iMessage on the iPod. It created a message thread on my phone with my own name, one for the email associated with the iTunes account as well as the normal thread for my husband's phone. All of the iMessages appear in both of our phones as 'sent' or blue messages. Help!

This happens when you are using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  To correct this, use different Apple IDs on each device.  (You can still share the same ID for purchasing in Settings>Store if you wish; the ID for iMessage doesn't need to be the same as the one used for purchasing.)  On the phone that will change, go to Settings>Messages>Receive At, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using the different ID.

  • Can i sync more than 1 ipod touch with one itunes account?

I have two ipod touches, one for each of my kids, and i would like to know if i can use one itunes account for both of their ipods.  Do I need 1 account per device?  Also, as they don't have an email account, do i need to create an email account for the itunes account to work?

mate, just use one account for both, and create a playlist each, so that they have the songs that they specifically want, or they could probably both just have all of the music, it doesnt take much space up. And yeah, just have one E-mail account for the one itunes account, you could probably just use yours, or if not, your going to have to create another one. My whole family uses the one acoount, and it doesnt bother us, it also doesnt send me any emails, so its fine to use my account

  • Can you have more than one iTunes account with home sharing, Can you have more than one iTunes account with home sharing

Can you have more than one itunes account at one time with apple tv

My understanding is that the home sharing is based off of being on the same Wifi.  So if someone brings their laptop to your house and connects to your Wifi and they have home sharing on they can connect so you can see his/her iTunes library on your iTunes.
I haven't tried this though.  We have two laptops at home, both using my iTunes account and I can see each other's iTunes library, which I'm guessing is what you're probably doing now.  I'd be interested to know if my thought above is true.

  • Can you have more than one movie per page?

Hi, I am creating a web site and have some movie content on some of the pages. Can you have more than one quicktime file on each page? Reason I ask is that on one page I have put 3 movie files but only one shows up when I run the site online. I am not using .mac. The website is on grapeape dot co dot uk and if you look at the examples page you should see what I mean. I get one video that works and 2 large "Q"'s where the other videos were. Odd because it works locally. Any ideas? Many thanks.
    Ben

Just noticed something. If you leave it until the first movie caches or preloads - the second one appears. Is there a way round this at all? Thanks. Ben

  • How do you have more than 1 ipod in your family and only 1 computer to be able to each have a separate account?

HOw do you have more than 1 ipod int he family and be able to have your own itunes on 1 computer?

Did you read the support document at the other end of the link? What additional information do you desire?
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer (n.b. same link as above!) suggests a number of ways for managing the media content. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iDevices using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their device. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed and need rebuilding. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.
