Can you have two iPods on the same account

I have an Itouch and an old classic that I want to load different music on.  Can I have two ipods on the same account?  Thanks

I have a iMac, MB Pro, iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad Mini, iPod 4th all on the same iTunes account. Is that what you mean?

Sure.  Each iPod is identified in iTunes with its own name and you configure each one as you wish:

  • Can you use two iPods on the same account?

I just purchased a new iPod because my older one has been having trouble. When I logged onto iTunes it would recognize my new iPod because it said another user was logged on. My question is, can I add this second iPod to my account so that I can use all the music I've purchased with it? How do I do it if I can? This is very frustrating, please help!

Yes you can. My wife and I each have iPods and use the same iTunes store account. Only plug one iPod in at any given time. Also, turn off fast user switching if you choose to set up another user account.

I have an IPod and was going to buy one as a gift for my friend but we share one computer, so I was wondering if there was a way to have 2 Ipods on the same computer, possibly even using the same software because we share mine right now. Before I purchase I need to know.

My two kids each have an ipod on the same pc on the same itunes account. now they are beggining to recieve itunes cards as gifts and want to redeem them seperately.what is the easiest/best way to do this?

None. iTunes gift cards are redeemed to iTunes Store accounts, not individual devices.

  • Can you have 2 iPods on the same iTunes?

I currently own a 30GB iPod and we purchased an iPod nano for our son for his birthday. We are not sure if we can run both iPods through the same iTunes, or do they need to be on seperate computers?
Please help...I cannot find any info about this.
    Thank you.

There are actually a number of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
If you choose the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" you can create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod (For example if using a Mini or Nano that's around 3700MB for a 4G). You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or of course you could set one or both iPods to "manually manage songs and playlists" and drag whatever you like to them.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Can you have two services on the same IP within the CFE?

    Hi,
I am testing AccAD and have come across a situation where we have two HTTP SAP systems, one portal and one SRM, that have the same destination host, ie http://testapp. But a end user will access each system via the URL's http://testapp:9010 and http://testapp:9015.
I can get AccAD to connect to both different apps by changing the DNS but inside one of the apps it will call the other using http://testapp:9010. so unless I change the internal config one app can not call the other.
So what I would like AccAD to do is call app1 via http://testapp:9015 and the other via http://testapp:9010 where defined in AccAD the hostname testapp is the same IP address.
Any clues and sorry if the problem explaination is confusing?
    Regards
    Brian Lane

    Hi Brian,
I checked your question with the development team, and here's the response:
If you define 2 service types under the same server then you will have delivered services on the same IP address.
The only thing that you need to consider is that the 2 service types will have the different ports.
Define one service type with port 9010 and another one with 9015.
After this step, as usual, please add both service types to the server and define remote offices.
On the CFE you can then do: netstat -ntl
You will see the same IP address listening to 2 different ports.
    Hope this helps, best regards

you can use a virtually unlimited number of mobile devices with a single iTunes library. in fact, Apple wants you to buy as many of them as possible

  • How do you have two iPods on the same computer?

Hi everyone, I previously had an iPod mini installed on my computer. Then at Christmas my parents got me an iPod nano, and when I tried to install it on this computer, it made me delete all of the files from my iPod mini. I was then able to download my nano, and everything has been working out fine. However, my dad wants to get an iPod now, and I don't know what to do in order to keep both of our iPods on the computer. Can you please tell me how?

  • HT1766 can you have multiple iPhones in the same iTunes account without overwriting each phones content?

Can you have multiple iPhones in the same iTunes account without overwriting each phones content?

    Hi sandexpress,
As Ocean20 indicates, you want to make sure that you have automatic syncing turned off. In iTunes Preferences under Devices, make sure you have "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" checked. Then connect each iPhone, and make sure that "Manually Manage Music and Videos" is checked on the Info page for each of them. Then go into each page for each device, and select what you want to sync to that particular device. (you would do this one device at a time - complete the steps for one of the phones, then connect the next one and do the same thing).
With this kind of setup, you can modify what will sync at any given time for a particular device once you have connected it to iTunes, but before you click on the Sync button at the bottom of the screen. If you want to change some sync options on a particular device, you would just go into the page you wanted to change (Music, Photos, Apps, etc.), make your changes, and then Sync.
If you do not have any changes, you can just hook up the phone and click on Sync.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,

  • I have an iphone 4 connected to my imac/itunes using a designated email address.  However, I also have an 80gb ipod classic which is connected to my general email account. How can I transfer my ipod to the same account as the iphone

I have an iphone 4 connected to my imac/itunes account using its own designated email address. However, I also have an 80gb ipod classic which is connected to my general email address. How can I delete this and transfer the ipod to the same account as the iphone 4. Thankyou

iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID.  So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account.  Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

  • How do you sync two Ipods to the same MacBook?

Have a nano already synced to my MacBook. Want to also sync my 5th gen 30GB Ipod to the same MacBook. Have only had my MB for 3 months after 18 years of PC platform (yes I'm drinking the KoolAid baby.) This notebook is fantastic.
An issue I had with my old PC was that you couldn't sync two Ipods to the same PC unless you held down the shift key while accessing ITunes to select a library - or something like that.
Please tell me that if I plug my 5th gen into this MacBook it won't overwrite my nano songs/info that are already on this MacBook? Apple has to have done it easier than how I had to do it with the PC. Any help from you experts out there will save me a ton of grief..........Thanks! R.Ty

    Thanks!
    No problem.
My issue is however that in addition to all of the songs that I have purchased via ITunes, I have about 600 songs from my own CD's on the 5th Gen that if I restore will be gone. Time - yes....money - a little.... It would be great if I could de-authorize the PC it was synced to and now work off my mac....
In that case, check out these different media recovery options by Zevoneer for copying music from your iPod to your computer.

And check out this older post of mine on different ways to copy music to your computer from your iPod as well.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12000345#12000345
What you need to do is first copy all the music currently on your 5th generation iPod to your new Macbook. Once you have done that, you are free to *Erase and Sync* it upon plugging it in, or restoring it via iTunes as described above.
And if you are adding purchased music, you will need to authorize your computer if you haven't done so yet. To do this, choose Authorize from the Store drop down menu in iTunes.
