Can you hide a layers using scripting?

I have a very complex graphic with many elements and I would like to find a way to hide layers based on a list. In the documentation that there is a way to tell if a layer is hidden, but didn't see anything about a way to actually to control the hide/unhide property. Is this possible?

The script came back with an error on this line:
var ilayer = doc.layers("AuthorLine")
Error message was:
"Layers() is not a function."
(If it matters, I am using Adobe Illustrator CS5.1. I'm not sure if the functions are substantially different.)

How can you hide a Continue button until all clickboxes are clicked?

I have seen similar questions to this one, but none seemed to be the exact situation as mine.
What I have: Several images on a screen. When a user clicks an image it is replaced with another image. I am using clickboxes for this task. I do not wish for them to toggle back and forth. Once they click the original image it should stay changed.
What I am trying to do: Once a learner clicks all the images (in no particular order) a Continue button appears that allows them to go to the next screen.
If anyone has some suggestions on this situation please let me know, thanks.

I cannot log in on the forum for the moment, so will try by answering by
mail. I was aware of that problem (have presented those solutions so
often), thought that since you left all images visible once the click box
was clicked it wouldn't be a problem.
Two possible solutions:
   1. Easiest one: add a statement in the Always decision that will Hide
   the click box just clicked. It has no sense to click it another time. That
   will mean that you still can do it with a shared action but that shared
   action will have two parameters now, the second one being the click box
   that has to adapted on each application of the shared action.
   2. If you don't want to make the click box hidden (which means at the
   same time disabled), you'll need a user variable for each click box,
   starting with a default value of 0, and toggle it in the Decision 'Always'
   to 1. The second decision will then need a condition that checks the value
   of all the user variables (with AND) and shows the Next button only when
   all variables have the value of 1.

Why do you want to use LDAP for Hard disk monitoring..???
U can do this by creating a MD5 checksum for all the files existing in some
perticular
directory and every hour or any configurable period u can recalculate the
checksum
to find out the change in the content.
I guess all u need is to get the code for "updatedb" utility of Linux and
instrument it for ur needs..

Hi Prakash,
I assume you are referring to a characteristic ('dimension').
This is possible: If the attribute is a navigational attribute you can include it in the query definition without the 'parent' char.
If the attribute is a Display attr then you can try by setting the Display property of the parent char to No Display (right click the char in the query > Properties)

I would like to hide some pictures in my aperture library. How can I do this?

The best you could do is to place the images you want to hide in a separate library.
If you want to hide this secret, separate library completely, give it a name that starts with a dot, like ".secret.aplibrary", Aperture will warn you that the name should not start with a dot. Just ignore the warning and proceed. However, since you will not be able to see this library in the Finder, you can only open it from the Terminal.
Lets assume, you have a secret Library located in your Pictures Folder.
Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal
type:
cd Pictures
open -a Aperture .secret.aplibrary
Then you can admire your secret pictures. To switch back to your regular library use the menu File > switch to library
and when you are back to your standard library click
File > clear menu
to all traces.
To see your hidden files listed in the terminal window, just type "ls -a".
To rename the secret library, use the "mv"-command:
mv .secret.aplibrary nolongersecret.aplibrary
Make sure you remember the exact name and path to your secret library - spotlight wan't show it,
perhaps you could create an innocent looking alias to your secret file, while the file is still visible and before you hide it.

I'm game to learn Bridge scripting if it can do what I want, but I have no idea how I even get started in learning what can and can't be done from Bridge scripting. So, here are a couple questions. If someone can give me some guidance on whether it can be done, I'll dive in and figure out how.
I'm interested in adding a new view to Bridge that would filter out original files when there is an edited copy in the same directory with a common root name. I'd like to only show the edited copy and not the root name. In other cases, I'd like to select only the latest version.
Is it possible to use the Bridge scripting to make a new menu item that would select only the latest copy of an image? I'd write my own logic in JavaScript to examine the filenames and decide which images should be selected.
Also, is it possible to create new views in Bridge so that I could view only the latest version of an image? Again, I'd write my own logic in JavaScript to device which images should be displayed.

I've wondered about Version Cue since it came out. It appears that you have to buy the whole suite in order to get it and that it's not available separately or just with Photoshop CS2. Is that correct?
I am a photo hobbiest and the suite is out of my price range (if I was going to spend that kind of money for my hobby, I'd spend it on a lens or towards another camera body), particularly when Adobe's policy for upgrades when you own the suite is that you have to upgrade the whole suite every time, not just a component.
If you know of a good, in-depth writeup that covers the version cue features, I haven't been able to find one.
Thanks for the info directing me at a custom browse scheme. I'll read about that and see how feasible it would be to present a "poor man's latest version display". I had in mind that the naming scheme would be pretty easy. I think the only rule that I'd have to follow in my edited versions is to preserve the original root name in the edited versions. If there were multiple edited versions, I'd pick the one with the later time/date.
I'm off to read some more about how to get started with this. I'm glad this forum exists.

You can't choose which to use to pay for your order. The default order of payment is free credits first, if you have some, then store credits then credit card. I'm not sure how to explain this but this is what I know. You can contact support if you want for more info.
