Can you keep doing software updates and updating iTunes on an older MacBook? Thanks!
I'm thinking of buying a used MacBook but I was told that I will not be able to download mountain lion (it has lion installed) or newer software? I was also told that this will mean that I will not be able to download the newest versions of iTunes. Can anyone tell me please if this is true and if so does anyone know roughly how soon it will be obsolete please? I need iTunes for updating my iPhone this is one of the main resins for purchase. My budget doesn't allow me to purchase a new mac, they are too expensive for me. Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated!
The latest version of Mac OS X you can run on a Mac depends on the model. If the Macbook you are considering will not run Mountain Lion, there is nothing you can do about that.
If you do need Mountain Lion, then look for a more recent Macbook. Here are the requirements for ML:
By the way, those codes like 5,1 are the Model Identifier. This info is part of the system profile on every Mac. You should ask the vendor for this information before you consider buying a computer.
I have seen MB's that can run ML, selling on eBay for around $500.00.

Is it possible to "uninstall" a software update from Apple? I am trying to test an idea that my wireless connection was stronger before I downloaded and installed the most reason Airport update. I am using one of the new iMacs. If need be, would erasing the hard drive work?Downgrading can be done using Archive and Install:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update. -

Yes. You can use iTunes 11.
As noted, you need 10.7.5 to use iCloud though. -

10.5.8 is the last release for OS X 10.5.
If you want to upgrade your operating system, you have to buy it, and it's not available via download. The next upgrade for you would be to OS X Snow Leopard 10.6. In the US, call the Apple online store at 800-MY-APPLE and order 10.6 from the legacy products list. They will send you a DVD, which you can install, then use Software Update to get to the last release of 10.6.8.
If you want to upgrade further, and your sytsem will support it, you can call the Apple online store again to buy Lion or you can connect to the App Store to buy and download Mountain Lion. If your system will support Lion or ML, you probably should have 4GB of memory for reasonable performance. -

i have iphone 4s from japan which is a carrier locked (kddi ) it has ios 5.1.1 and now i want to upgrade to ios 6.Can i do the software update or it will cause any harm???
If you have a Japanese iPhone and are using it with any carrier other than Softbank or AU, then it was hacked, since as the others have said neither of those carriers unlock iPhones. Therefore if you upgrade iOS or restore your iPhone, it will lock back to the original carrier and be unusuable with your current cell provider.
We cannot help you with jailbroken iPhones. You'll have to look elsewhere for further assistance.

I have a MBP form July 2011, upgraded to Lion 10.7.4. Last week I had to restore the OS.
I also bought some time ago Iphoto.
Today I wanted to install Imovie from App Store. Instead of the Buy bottom I found an Accept bottom and when I tryed to install I had the message:
These apps cannot be accepted on this computer.
Future updates of these apps can be found through Software Update.
I looked for a solution and found a lot of questions about this error but not real answers to fix it.
Can you please let me know hoe to fix?Your Mac should have had all three of the iLife apps pre-bundled with it; iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. If your Mac came with Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed, then the apps should be on the Install DVD that came with your Mac, perhaps in a folder on the disc labeled bundled apps. After installing them, these apps would not be updated through the Mac App Store, but with Software Update.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

The quickest fix is to download the latest release from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and see if the next update works through automatic updates -

Your phone was "hacked" to unlock it. So, if you update software or restore your phone, it will be re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to in the UK.
