Can you keep screen on?

I've been trying to figure out how to keep the screen on with my Classic when it is docked, so you can see the artwork of the song being played. A friend of mine has a Zune and the screen stays on when the device is docked. Can you do the same with the iPod Classic?

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have been wondering the same thing as pthouron, but I don't want to be going in to the menu all the time.
When I'm out and about and listening to my iPod I want the backlight off because it is in my pocket and there's no need for the backlight. The default setting of 10 seconds is just fine.
Then I get home and dock my iPod in my Bose SoundDock and I play music but I want the backlight permanently lit, so I can see the Album art from across the room, in case I can't remember the album name or something.
I don't want to be playing around with the menus all the time to get this functionality. The Bose docking station does charge the iPod, so the device could have two settings, one for "when docked, always on" and one for "when un-docked, only on for 10 seconds".
I wonder if Apple will introduce this kind of behaviour?

InDesign's PDF export engine does not transcode your videos, they are embedded exactly as they were in the original file. The Flash Player runtime which displays video inside PDF files may not show a perfect match to Quicktime etc. because most video playback tools aren't designed for a color-calibrated workflow, but they should be close.
The playback quality (blocking and aliasing) will be affected if the clip is not playing at 100% (screen pixels != video pixels) and in PDFs with the standard video player widget, that will only ever happen when you use 'floating window' mode. PDF pages have physical dimensions, so viewing them at "100%" does not make them match screen pixels.
If you don't mind the video clip being smaller than the media annotation in which it's playing, then use my free upgrade to the Acrobat playback widget - VideoPlayerX - which maintains 1:1 pixel scale until the page is zoomed out too far for it to fit. You can install the widget into InDesign so it's used by default when exporting.

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • HT1390 How long can you keep a movie rental, once it's downloaded? Do u need wifi to watch it?

How long can you keep a movie rental, once it's downloaded? Do u need wifi to watch it?

As long as it's been fully downloaded then you shouldn't need to be online in order to watch it.
As to how long you have to watch it, from here :
You have 30 days from the time of rental to watch your movie, and 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (elsewhere) after you've started viewing to finish it. Once the rental period expires, the movie will disappear from your iTunes library.

How can you keep the caps lock on and not unlock after each letter?

I'm not aware of an online keyboard that is available and can do this. Most likely it would need to be a function of the app itself (which can and sometimes do add functionlaity to the keyboard).
Wireless keyboard might handle that, if that's an option for you.
I work in IT myself, and IMHO the iPad isn't the ideal device for coding or scripting work.

  • How can you keep the file name when using "Download Linked File As..."?

I'm a longtime PC user finally making the transition to Mac.  Some of the tasks that seemed so simple in Windows have really stumped me!  One of the tasks I do frequently is download files into specific folders.  After much looking, I finally found the "Download Linked File As..." option if I right-click on the download link.  The problem is, when I choose this option, I lose the file name.  I get a window in which I can choose the desired folder, but the filename is always "0".  If I want to keep the filename (and I usually do), I have to type it in manually.  Is there anyway around this?

Just checked on 10.7.4+, still the same, something is borked about your install, to see if we need to re-install...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

  • Can you use screen sharing outside of your local network?

I've been poking around with the "screen sharing" in osx Lion. I have a few questions about it.
Firstly, is the built-in screen sharing only accessible through the finder?
Also, is it only available on local networks? I've gotten it to work on two computers on the same network. But, can I use in the built-in screen sharing to look at my work iMac while I'm at home on my Macbook? Or would I need a full VPN client to do this? (Although isn't there built-in VPN compatibility in Lion?)
    Thanks!

  • How can you keep a BT email address/account active...

    Hi
I may potentially be heading into a situation shortly where I will be moving out of my rented accomodation and lodging somewhere while a house purchase goes through.
Obviously I will not be needing my BT account (phone & internet) while in "limbo" but don't want to lose the email address due to the amount of different places I have mail coming to it from, especially as I still intend to be with BT once the move is completed.
Is there a practical solution to this problem other than continuing to pay for a BB service I temporarily won't be able to access?!  Once I move (with partner) who is also BT can I join in to her account (or vice versa) and again keep the same email address.
    Any advice much appreciated!

    Hi at_the_sea,
You can keep the email address but there is a small charge for this per month. You will then be able to integrate this into your partners account whenever you want.
If you want more information on this, fill out the contact us form in the "about me" me section of my profile.
    Cheers,
    Chris.

  • Moving music files via external hard drive-- Can you keep ratings/playlists

I keep all my music on an external hard drive in order to prevent it getting lost. Anyways... what I'm wondering is if I go to move my music from one computer (comp. A) to another computer (comp. B), is it possible to keep all the ratings and my playlists? I've seen the stuff for transfering with your ipod, but the problem is my 30Gb doesn't hold all my music, and I would reeeeeaaally hate to go through and redo all the ratings. If anyone knows maybe a file involved with itunes that might contain the ratings or playlists that I could store with the files themselves to transfer that would be excellent. Thanks to anyone who can help out. If you need clarification on any of the details just lemme know.

It looks like it should, thanks. One other bit that I'm wondering about is how do I load that Library list once I've installed itunes on comp B? Is it just a matter of going file>import or file>add new file to library? Thanks again

  • Can you keep more than one site open on the desk top ?

When looking at a site via safari, if I want to keep this site "open" on the desk top, whilst researching another. I sthere a way to do this ? I have tried 'shrinking' the page but to open another I seem to lose the one that is shrunk !!! I feel that the answer is simple ( no, perhaps it is me !!!)
    Thanks, loons

    Hi Dr. Smoke
I'm sure our friend loons can try both tabbed and multi-window browsing
I also thought, soon after my last post, that I often use both methods at the same time. When I am working, translating texts, I normally have one window with many tabs of online dictionaries and other language resources (a number of which I subscribe to) plus research resources related to the text I am translating, while I also have a second window with many tabs pointing to news and journal websites and a couple of Mac related sites, like this one.
I use Exposé to switch between the two windows, and then switch between the Tabs in the window which is foremost at the time. Therefore, as you can see, I employ a combination of both approaches, and this is best for me when I'm trying to combine work and play (which is probably not the smartest thing in the world one can do).
Anyway, I reacted because I find there are many who are resistant to trying something that sounds a little alien, like "TABBED BROWSING". So, I would rather encourage people to try it before discussing the theoretical pros and cons.
