Can you load a new versions of adobe on top of an older version without losing functionality?

User has Adobe standard 10. She has just purchased Adobe 11 pro. can she keep 10 and install 11 on top?

Although we don't fully prevent such installation, the fact is that at Adobe we most strongly discourage this. Over the years we have seen way too many problems users get into by trying to have such parallel installations.
Because Acrobat interacts with system drivers (the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance) and applications (the PDFMakers for Office and other applications) unlike other Adobe applications such as Photoshop or Illustrator, you cannot maintain full functionality for both versions and unless the old version is totally removed, you may experience conflicts.
If you are trying to use two versions for some type of enterprise testing purpose, we would strongly recommend that you do this with VMs (virtual machines), one with Acrobat 10 Standard and the other with Acrobat 11 Pro.

• Is there a way to scroll between footnotes in the new pages version and to actually copy an old text with footnotes into the new version without losing them or having them in the text?

Since my update I am no longer able to scroll between the footnotes. I have to klick on each one to change something. That is unbearable since I have to write a lot of academic texts which usally have a ton of different footnotes. I also can not copy some of my old texts into the new version without losing the footnotes or having them in the middle of my text. Does anyone know a trick or if apple will change that for good? Thx for any support - it really drives me crazy

Isn't that you asking how to get it (undefined) back?
If you never had Pages '09, you can buy it from Amazon very cheaply:

• I have to use two different versions of Firefox for two different employers - How to install new version without losing old one?

One employer requires that I use Firefox 3. Another requires that I use the newest version. How do I install a new version Firefox to a different path without over-writing the old version?

The easiest way it to have one version be a Firefox Portable installation. The Portable installation is self-contained and won't affect your "regular" Firefox installation.
http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable
Otherwise you need to set up a Profile specifically for the 2nd version and make sure the correct Profile is launched with each version.
Overall you are probably better off replacing your current Firefox 3.6.25 version with the Portable Apps version - http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/localization#legacy36 - and install Firefox 9.0.1 as your "regular" installation.

• Hi...how can you install a news version...without...Gologle & Yahoo toolbars?

Hi...why have you done this to Firefox????? No...Google or Yahoo toolbars???? Are you nuts......you have to add them.
Thanks....Tom Weeden

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that. I didn't actually build a package from it, because I didn't know where the problem was. So I just compiled a bunch of things the old fashioned way and ran them without installing anything until I had narrowed down the problem. But I'm sure there's an mplayer-svn in AUR I could use - good idea.

• Can you build a new version of an exe without having to rebuild its installer afterwards?

I'm currently testing a LabVIEW-built exe on a PC without LabVIEW installed. Each time I go back to the development PC to fix a bug / change something, and then rebuild the executable, it seems I also have to rebuild its installer which takes a significant amount of time.
Is there a way to rebuild an executable without having to rebuild its installer? Or a way to tell the installer it doesn't need to be completely rebuilt, but rather just needs to look at the new executable?
After writing this out, I've realised there probably isn't a way to do it, but it's worth a shot.

I understand what Taki is saying, but I don't see the need to "update" the installer after making changes to an .exe; especially if it's going to a PC that already has the RTE installed. Later, if I have to do a build, it will incorporate the current changes to the .exe.
In my opinion, it's just easier to create installers.
Yes, in your circumstance it would be. For me, I only have to worry about internal customers, so I am the only one that does the install; therefore, I don't have to worry so much about the details of the installation.

• Can i get a newer version without buying a new computer?

Hello All and Anyone, I have an imac OS X version 10.6.8 and was wondering if it was possible to upgrade the version at all or if I have to buy a newer computer. I'd hate to think I'm "stuck" with this one, as there are plenty of apps I can't even download because this computer is 4 years old. There's still tons of space on it though & I don't otherwise have a need for a new computer. Thanks in advance.

Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
[Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301]
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install CleanUp"). In the list of programs that appear in CleanUp, select any *Apple Software Update* entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Unless I'm missing something that article doesn't really tell you how to do it in the detail you need to perform the action. It also omits essentials such as using your previous library so you can open the library.itl file which gets irreversibly updated once you open it with a newer version.

Sorry but we need details to help
What version of the OS do you have? What has changed since iPhtoo worked?
What exactly is the problem - you say "it was not responding" - You downloaded a new version (what version)" -you can't find yoru photos" none of which is helpful
look in your applications folder - is there an Iphoto application there? If so get info and report the version
Look in the picures folder - is there an iPhoto library there? If so exactly (including exact error messages) happens if you double click on it?
what else can you tell us that might help us assist you?

• Now I can't play frontierville since down loading the new version.

Down loaded the new version of foxfire and not able to get frontierville in facebook to open up. What do I need to do?

What happens when you try to open them?
The GarageBand Help does not say anything about the compatibility with earlier versions.
Try to drag the old project to the GarageBand icon in the Dock or or control-click the project and select "Open with GarageBand" from the pop-up menu. If GarageBAnd can open the project at all, it should convert the project and save a copy in the new format.
If that does not work, and you still have Gaa
rageBand '11 installed, try to open the project first in GarageBand '11 to upgrade it and then in GarageBand 10.0.

• When I try to open a spreadsheet on my Mac that I worked on with my iPhone, I get "You need a newer version of Numbers to open this spreadsheet." When I go to the App store, it says I already have it. I have v. 2.3 and can't seem to download newer version

If you are running Mavericks, and the Mac App store says you are up to date, then you have Numbers 3.2 as well as Numbers 2.3. You are getting the "Need a newer version message because your Mac is trying to open the document using Numbers 2.3.
Launch Numbers 3, then open the document from within that app, or right click/control-click the document and choose Open with Numbers 3.x.

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3. But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01. So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac. Weird...

Trying re-purchasing. won't let me. says to check for updates?
any suggestions

It sounds to me as though you are attempting to open a Pages 09 document with the Pages 08 application. If you do have Pages 09 on your computer, it may be that for some reason an existing Pages 08 application is invoked accidentally.

• Can you create a new folder and put several documents in it in Adobe?

Can you create a new folder and put several documents in it in Adobe?

Thank you for your help. Now I just want to expand on this a bit. To use the Applescript you have supplied me, how do I tell it to name the folder other than by date, and where to put it?
Let me say, preferably, is it possible to make an action like this right-clickable? Instead of having to pick a script. Anything that slows this process down means I might as well do it all by hand. What I'd really love to do is this:
Select a number of items. Right click to an action saying "create a new folder and put this items in it. Name the folder with the first item's name". Very simple and quick.
Could this be accomplished? Through Automator? or something that can appear in the contextual menu? Folder actions?
I'm just getting started with using these tools.
